We just had 2 nights here and we are unfortunately home now and we are so gutted we had to leave! The staff are so friendly and understanding towards my children... My partner works for a different wetherspoons and this is our first wetherspoons hotel stay... It was very welcoming, we got there a bit early and our room was ready, we requested a travel cot for our youngest and the beds and travel cot bedding was all made up, the room was amazing! Was perfectly clean and tidy and we'll presented, my 2 year old still relies on cow's milk and they put her milk in the fridge for us to store during our stay and whether she needed it day or night they got it for us to quickly fill her bottle, the food was amazing! Not one issue with any of our food, tasted amazing and we had 2 breakfasts there 2 dinners and 1 lunch, as well as drinks there.
If I was being very picky the only small issues I had was the stairs doing 2 flights of stairs with 2 kids and a baby and luggage but I'm pretty sure it did me some good as much as it was stressful 😂 they had a rail in the extra part of our room and there was not enough coat hangers so a few extra would of done us and some extra storage for our towels as one small rack in the bathroom for the 5 of us having towels was trying to find places other than the floor, we did just hang them over the rail in the extra part of our room, then because my daughter had cow's milk not having anywhere to store this in our room we felt like a nuisance keep asking especially as she still has one in the night, so having a mini fridge in there just for that would of been ideal (maybe if having this is ever considered maybe have it as an optional Extra charged during someone's stay could be an idea). And maybe some extra storage space for clothes that are folded as we had one chest of drawers and a couple of days stay for a family of 5 it was very tight to store our clothes if we was staying any longer we would have had no where else to put it.
Other than that my points of me just nitpicking at little things our overall stay was brilliant, very clean and tidy! And I can't wait to...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Minehead. We'd decided to meet up with family, and The Duke of Wellington was the only place that could accommodate. It looked like a lovely area, not far from the sea.
There were 9 of us altogether (6 adults and 3 children). We fit around 2 tables put together as the tables are quite large. Ad we arrived on a bank holiday tea time, we expected the place to be packed. It is a large place and, while some areas were busier than others, we found plenty of space. The tables were all clean, and there was plenty of room to move around.
The drinks were cheap (my husband said it was less than £10 for 2 cokes and 2 pints of cider).
I ordered everything else on the app. I'd never used it before but found it really good. There were a couple of things we couldn't do on there such as ask for lettuce on a kid's burger or order milk on its own (you can get it with a kid's meal). However, we asked the server to bring some lettuce, which she did. The children chose a different drink, but I'm sure we could have asked about milk if they'd insisted.
The service was excellent. It didn't take too long for the food to arrive once it had been ordered. The children's meals were brought out first. Everything was absolutely perfect with the order.
The meals were a decent size, and everyone enjoyed them. I had the cauliflower and spinach curry, which was lovely. It came with rice, poppadoms, and naan bread. It was delicious.
Some of us had dessert. I had chocolate cookie dough with ice-cream and toffee sauce. My step-daughter had the same. We both found it quite sickly but in the most very delicious way!
We paid around £120 for 9 meals, 7 desserts, and a couple of drinks each.
Service was brilliant.
Accessibility - there are some steps to the door we used to come in, but there are other doors that may be more accessible. There are steps and ramps inside.
The ladies' toilets are quite small. There is an accessible toilet. A radar key can be requested from the...
Read moreAnother visit to this hotel with my 88 year old mum. I emailed week before to ask for a first floor room as stayed before and they have a stanner stair lift but not to 2nd floor. Had a lovely reply and said would carry cases up. |On arrival to their word we were in room 104. Used stair lift very basic, very slow but did the job. Sarah showed us how to work in and all was fine plus a young man very helpful too. |The room was tired but adequate for our stay, was bit dusty but the shower was very powerful for one that runs from the taps no issue with it at all. The toilet was on a block so bit too high for me 5ft and mum shorter. The bedding was crisp white sheets very clean and extra pillows if you needed them. Our view was of the fire escape but we only wanted as a base so someone had to have it. There was a fan, iron, ironing board and tea/coffee/water/biscuits too which was topped up the next morning. Obviously someone liked the weed as could smell first night in corridor but each to their own.|We had breakfast both mornings and very nice the locals gather and envying them having their first pint while I sipped on my cranberry juice and ate our hot and tasty|fry up. |My daughter lives just down the road so ideal location her husband does unsocial hours so not practical to stay there.|So to finish my review thank you to sarah and staff you were friendly and helpful. We will be back again from sarah another...
