This is such an amazing place to stay. Set on the outskirts of old Shanklin village in a wooded and field environment, Martlets is a uniquely designed house that has two rooms which can be booked through airbandb or the website. Jill and Ian are super hosts and the rooms are beautifully presented. This B and B offers breakfast which can include a delicious cooked breakie. There is a lovely sitting area on the landing where the guest can relax over coffee and enjoy the unique wildlife. The house is only a short walk from Old Shanklin village.

Just got back from a 3 night stay here and can’t recommend it enough. Lovely en-suite room with views over fields including the neighbours 2 donkeys. Llama’s/alpacas & chickens. A very lovely, quiet spot. Although Jill, the owner was away, her friend Kim more than adequately looked after us. Lovely, tasty breakfasts each morning, cooked to order with engaging conversation. My only disappointment was not being able to sneak away with her adorable little pup Jess. Will just have to go back sometime and try again!! 🤗

Stayed here for quite a few years now and absolutely love the place! Nothing is too much trouble, Jill goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Very knowledgable and very helpful, if you’re unsure where to visit or what to do with your time etc. Breakfast scrummy and lots of choice to suit all.

What a fantastic place to stay in the Isle of Wight! All the communication with Martlets was extremely quick, clear and helpful, with loads of information about ferries, attractions and eateries. Our room in Martlets was beautiful, clean and large enough for all our detritus! It also had a large ensuite with a bath and a separate shower. The breakfast was excellent – plenty of freshly cooked choices, as well as cereals, fruit and yoghurt.|Martlets is a lovely house in a perfect, and quiet, location and only a 5 minute walk from pubs and restaurants. You can walk easily down to the Shanklin seafront in 10 minutes or so, and venture further to Sandown if you fancy a longer walk. The railway station is easy to get to…so you can then access the train up to Ryde – or switch to the steam railway line if the mood takes you. We didn’t use the buses on our trip, but they seem to be quite regular and they visit the main areas of the island that you would want to access.|When we visit the Isle of Wight again in the future, we won’t hesitate to get back in touch with Martlets to book a room. It was an absolute delight to stay there. Thank you for looking...

My wife & I stayed at Martlets, Shanklin for 5 nights - this was our second visit (we were there for a week in 2022..) and was every bit as good as the first. Martlets is sited just outside Shanklin Old Village (about a 5-10 minute walk down a slight slope), and is in a perfect position for visiting the Island’s many attractions. There’s ample parking, the rooms are immaculate and it’s very quiet so you get a great nights sleep. The owner, Jill, and her two dogs Jess & Jonty are very welcoming, and the breakfasts are delicious and really set you up for a days exploring. On Saturday morning we were lucky enough to meet Jill’s assistant, Sofiia, who did an excellent job of bringing us our toast and clearing our used dishes (she’s only 5, and was worth every penny of the £2 tip we gave her…!). All in all we had another wonderful stay, and we definitely recommend Martlets if you are intending to visit the...
