Our stay with Sharon and Nigel was exactly the stress free week that we needed! They are natural hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. They have excellent local knowledge and were a pleasure to chat with. All the little extras including the beautiful freshly baked biscuits in our room on arrival, the buckets and spades available to borrow for the beach and the daily weather reports at breakfast to help us to plan our day we honestly felt we were staying in a home from home!
The breakfasts were perfect; such a large choice - we loved the full English, massive homemade waffles, pancakes and huge bowls of fresh berries. They kept us and the children filled up all day which meant we could enjoy our activities without anyone being hungry or grumpy!!
They had clearly thought through the current Covid guidelines and implemented a one way system through the house, two separate sittings for breakfast and we were impressed with the system to reorder any towels etc without the need for anyone else to enter our room. We stayed in one of the Family Rooms and found it had everything we needed. The fridge was a bonus so we could have cold drinks at the end of the day.
Our daughter turned 5 the first morning we were there and Sharon and Nigel went above and beyond to make it a special birthday for her by decorating our breakfast table with a big helium balloon, a card and a gift! So thoughtful and really appreciated! Along with her dream of sleeping in a bunk bed and the amazing play room and the beach only 5 mins drive away she keeps asking when we can go back!
The Royson is in such a great location - you can walk to the beach along the coastal path but it is a bit steep with a buggy so we opted to take the 5 min drive which we were more than happy with. We had a full adventure packed week but there are so many other days out that we would love to do so we will definitely be booking back into the Royson...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at the Royson! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Royson for 5 nights in August. We were welcomed by Nigel, a friendly face as we came in from the rain, who talked us through timings and gave us some important info about where we were, where we could eat and how to get around the island, since we were using public transport.|Our room was small but cosy and well furnished/decorated. We were welcomed with home-made shortbread by Nigel's daughter, which was gorgeous and delicious! We were plesantly surprised by the the small things like the hot chocolate, bath bomb and toiletries; our welcome was thoughtful, which gave us a positive start to the holiday!|Breakfast was speedy and tasty! Nigel always greeted us with a big smile and a little joke, and the options on offer for breakfast are broad. The personalisation of breakfasts too was nice, as well as the daily reminders of tide timings and sea temperatures, in case you were planning a dip!|Coming back after a full day, the bathroom facilities were great (the option of a bath was chosen a couple of times!) and the bed was very comfortable. We felt well rested staying here.|In addition to the breakfast and room comforts, there was equipment guests could use for some time at the beach. My boyfriend and I had a great day, chilling on the beach, and throwing a ball around that we borrowed from the Royson. The games room too is an added touch for anyone looking for a quick game of pool, chess, or for children to have their own space!|We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Royson for a short trip or week long, as we did! Thank you Nigel, Sharon...
Read moreWhat a beautiful B&B and owners. I made a mistake with dates and we managed to turn up a day early! Sharon and Nigel went out of their way to accommodate us and we did manage to laugh about the whole situation! The room was immaculate and provided everything we would need for our stay. Breakfast needs to be preordered the night before as everything is bought in fresh and reduces wastage, which wasn't an issue for us. Perfectly cooked full English every day but there was so much other choice also. Beach towels are provided if you wish to borrow them. Also you can borrow body boards to take down to the sea. They are very knowledgeable about the Island and happy to pass on info. Location wise. The Royson is a great base for sightseeing but if you struggle with hills then a car would be an advantage as the coastal walks along the cliff top are quite steep and getting down to the sea front is fine but getting back can be strenuous. The place has off street parking, which is a bonus. We were staying there before and after "freedom day" and felt very covid safe. I would highly recommend this establishment and couldn't have asked for better hosts. Our holiday could have turned out very differently with my faux pas! Thank you Sharon and Nigel. We will see...
