AVOID AT ALL COSTS – misleading, overcharged, and zero customer care I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I booked directly through their website for a single bedroom at £54. I even confirmed this with the receptionist over the phone, who assured me I could pay on arrival at the standard rate. However, when I checked in, I was made to pay before even seeing the room, and was charged £68.08 – over £14 more. When I questioned it, I was given conflicting excuses, including being told it was because I stayed in a double room (which is simply untrue – I stayed in a single, exactly as booked). Despite pointing this out, they refused to refund the overcharge and showed no apology or empathy whatsoever. To make matters worse, the receptionist Svetla was extremely rude on the phone. Instead of listening to my concerns, she dismissed me and even said, “She talk too much.” Completely unprofessional and insulting. This feels like nothing more than a money-making scheme. The lack of honesty, accountability, and basic customer service is shocking. There was no concern for customer satisfaction at all – just deflection, rudeness, and refusal to take responsibility for their own staff’s error. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. You’re better off with Premier Inn or Travelodge, where at least you get transparency, fair pricing, and respect as a customer!

Nice little hotel and great prices for the area, receptionists was lovely and helped us with bags while showing us to the room. UPDATE: Thanks for the reply, sorry I didn’t realise it said reduced headroom as I didn’t book it but taking that into account its our fault and I’ve changed it to 5 stars. Great hotel keep it up :)

DO NOT PRE-PAY BEFORE YOU SEE YOUR ROOM!

I wanted to write this review so people don’t have the same experience I did over the Holidays (if I could give this Hotel 0 stars I would)! While visiting my family over the summer, I stopped by the Gidea Park Hotel to see what the rooms were like in anticipation of staying there during Christmas and New Year’s for two weeks. I was shown two rooms which seemed quite small but was told if I booked one of their triple sized rooms it would be much larger. I looked at the pictures and other representations made online (for example that every room had a small refrigerator) which seemed ok and then made my reservation 2 months in advance of my stay, plenty of time for them to ensure a suitable room was available. When I arrived for check-in the Desk Clerk required payment for the entire two weeks of my stay upfront. The first room I was given was incredibly small (there were two of us) and didn’t even have a proper shower (just a tub with a wand and no curtain), or many of the other amenities promised. I explained why this would not work given the length of our stay and was shown a second room which, while it had a slightly better bathroom with a shower, was so tiny there was hardly anywhere for us to put our suitcases. In addition, the ceiling was incredibly low (couldn’t have been more than 7 feet), there wasn’t a phone in the room, and when we tried to turn on the heat it didn’t work (the Desk Clerk told us that heating generally wasn’t available before 5 p.m. every day)! Needless to say, we had no intention of staying in this Hotel for two full weeks in the middle of winter. We also agreed none of the rooms we were shown felt clean. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and said we would be leaving, only a few hours after check-in, the Manager/Owner (who we spoke to on the phone) was incredibly rude and refused to fully reimburse our payment pursuant to their check-out “Policy.” In addition, only after telling them we were leaving, a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom “miraculously” became available. However, it was upsetting this option wasn’t offered to us at the outset and the whole situation did not seem legitimate so I had no intention of staying. In fact, upon leaving the Desk Clerk shared with us this purportedly “larger” room wasn’t even on the premises and wouldn’t tell us where it was! I regret ever having made these reservations and would never recommend this Hotel to anyone, but if you are inclined to stay at the Gidea Park Hotel do yourself a favour and look at the accommodations before you pay!

IN RESPONSE TO HOTEL REPLY: I don’t appreciate your misrepresentation of the facts and my name is “Lisa” NOT “Linda!” After having my reservation for weeks, the rooms offered were not “triple” size rooms. I NEVER indicated we wanted to leave because “friends/family” offered us a room. Your rooms were so sub-par that we were forced to make provisions at another nearby hotel. Upon expressing our dissatisfaction with the numerous misrepresentations concerning your rooms, rather than do the right thing, you chose to hijack two nights of payment for a two hour “stay.” We refused your “alternative” room because it seemed suspect at best. Why, when I requested the largest room available in my online reservation, didn’t you offer that room from the outset? Moreover, why wouldn’t anyone disclose where that room was located? All your staff said was the room was not on the premises and was “nearby.” Finally you don’t deny that heating is not available at all times in the heart of winter; that your rooms don’t have telephones (what a ridiculous alternative to email the hotel as a means of communication); your website clearly indicates rooms have fridges which they don’t (see screenshots); and how strange every time you leave the premises you must give the front desk your room key! You need to do a better job of accurately representing your...

Night from hell!! Terrible service, I booked a room with my friends at about 2am after being on a night out, I called before we got there and spoke to a man named Tobi he said but the receipt has the name of Stefano I mentioned I would be coming with friends but they weren’t sleeping there and he said that was fine. We’ve got there and ended up booking a double room as only two people were staying and he was fine with it. The heating didn’t work and we were freezing, the man at reception then started to call me and tell me that we need to leave or he was calling the police. After trying to speak to him or the manager he kept telling us no he can’t call his manager and they don’t want to speak to us, he also started raising his voice at us. He then verbally agreed and gave me a written and signed confirmation that we would be refunded for the room as we were told to leave after 4 hours. To now find out we’ve been banned as we brought people and were noisy and there will be no refund of any sort not even damage deposit when nothing was damaged. If it wasn’t fine to take people there we never would have but we wasn’t told, we also wasn’t told about any noise complaints while we were there.I’m not worried about being banned it was horrid there. Avoid...
