My local park I normally visit is Valentine's Park, however me and my wife decided for a change of scenery on a surprisingly warm March afternoon. It was a pleasant drive from my house (20 mins away) and we found parking very easily right outside the entrances to where the Tennis courts lie. We walked down the path towards the ducks and were greeted by some lovely ducks accompanied with their baby ducklings which my 2 year old daughter was very excited to experience. The park wasn't too busy so it was great taking some family pictures whilst carrying on our walk down the lake bed. As we walked we came across more ducks and lovely white pigeons with a few swans also swimming on the lake. It was a great view with the sun beaming down on us. I would advise to always keep your kids close and hold their hand walking alongside the lake as their is no netting (or similar) to prevent any accidents of falling into the water, however there is enough pavement to ensure you are safe. As you walk down the path you will come across a lovely giant fountain shooting upwards in the middle of the lake. As you draw closer the water spray of the fountain will lightly fall onto you which is an oddly satisfying feeling. Once we reached the end we looped back round down the adjacent path and made our way back to our car, which for us was a perfect amount of walking (around 30-40 mins). My wife particularly enjoyed the walk and we definitely intend to revisit Raphael Park in the near future.

I often walk through here when taking exercise and have also taken an elderly friend in his wheelchair. The main carpark is across the road from the main entrance in lodge farm park, but street parking is also available along one edge. At one end you have the lake and fountain and Raphael's restaurant which has inside seating has its own website and offers proper meals and snacks. This end of the park is laid it with paths and lawns on a slope offering pleasant views. The middle of the park has an open air theatre and a woodland trail with a bug hotel and seating area where people feed squirrels which have become quite tame. At the far end there are football pitches, tennis courts and a children's play area with a little cafe that serves snacks. This cafe has outside seating only but is popular in nice weather. You'll also find a couple of inflatables here on most days ( bouncy castle ). The paths are well maintained and I've pushed wheelchairs along them without trouble.

Lived here all my life. Gorgeous park, lovely people, friendly dogs, and wonderful upkeep by the park rangers and bin men who maintain the park like a private garden. If you have a puppy or are looking to socialise your dog I would highly recommend Raphael's as there is a brilliant mix of small, large, young, and old dogs, to expose your dog to. The two stars I have to remove is during the summer months when inconsiderate people chuck litter all over the park. On the field, the forest, and in the river. As a dog owner I am disgusted by people who don't pick up after their dog, but there are signs and fines to dissuade people from doing so. There are NO signs or fines to dissuade the lazy picnickers who leave their food/bags/and children's NAPPIES over the park. There needs to be more penalties for doing so, and I would even go as far as to suggest cameras over the field where the worst offenders are. Not only are they ruining the image of the park, they harm the wildlife, dogs, and create more work for the keepers. I am unsure how someone can be so completely inconsiderate of others, but it seems like there is a epidemic of such people during the summer months in Raphael's. EDIT 9.8.22- added a few more photos from 2 more visits this week

Like all parks, this one probably looks a whole lot better during the sunny seasons. I visited on a cool winter's day. What I liked: the lake is quite large, plenty of space for the waterfowl to swim around, and even has its own fountain. There is a machine where you can but duck food for 20p. There are woods that you can explore through, as long as it's not too muddy. Also the park has a cafe on the far side, with benches outside. I recall that they sell German sausage (Bratwurst). Also there are placards with information about the history of the park. However, the lake is only accessible on one side of it. The other side belongs to the residents who live adjacent to it, so they have a fences/gate separating it from their gardens.

It's very nice park, some places are not clean ,make sure bring your water bottle and hand sanitizer too, if coming with small kids make sure bring some thing to rescue yourself and kids from dog, as mental people bring their dogs off leash can scared your kids anytime. Alert of this type of dog and his owner he left his dog on my kids and he was enjoying while dog was jumping on my kids and scaring them, as soon I shouting for help he left the park by swearing me and kids . Please these two parks really dangerous for kids as nearby people don't care they left their dog alone.

Luckily we got good weather when we got there, but a bit cloudy. First sight I got the fountain as the rainbow appeared on the steam. Such a breathtaking view. Then we got along the lake, lots of swans, ducks and other birds. Going deep into the park there is a playground amongst the trees, spending time watching the squirrels playing around. We collected chestnuts, you can find acorns and hip bushes, too. I have seen lovely flowers around the open theather. So many tiny details to observe and catch beautiful memories. Really a relief from the busy days being in there.
