It is an Express hotel, so there is no lavish lounges, bars or restaurants but its welcome lounge area which also acts as its breakfast dining area is functional, comfortable and multi-purpose. Room dividers and pops of colour break up various seating areas, perfect for large groups waiting pre check-in or check-out, a meeting area, dining area, drinks and breakfast. A loved my room. I was on the fourth floor with floor to ceiling curved windows providing a bustling city backdrop day and night. Although large windows, the room was extremely sound proofed and quiet. Bliss! The room was well appointed, with a small open cupboard area for hanging your clothes, a built in suitcase table, large TV on a TV arm so that you can comfortably move this to watch TV in bed or from the comfort of the large chair. The room comes with a very modern table and chair, with plenty plug and USB points so its easy to work in your room. I loved that the desk/table was not fixed faced onto the wall and was free standing and moveable meaning that I could either face the window or face into the room whilst working. Having the choice is a nice touch. The bed was comfortable with gorgeous fresh white linen although I could have done with softer pillows! The bathroom was ideal with a large shower, great pressure and toiletries. Nice big fluffy white towels, large mirrors that are well lit and ample space to dry off. All in all the room was a good size and a great choice for a 2 night stay. Unfortunately over my 2 night stay the elevator that serviced the front end of the hotel was out of service which meant that everyone needed to use the elevator located at the rear of the hotel. This is usually no major hassle for me but I had twisted my knee a few days before and having to navigate several sets of stairs although you had taken the elevator to the 4th floor, wasn’t ideal. The walk to the room was a little higgledy piggledy, as you made your way from the back of the hotel to the front. This did not impact my stay, however it’s just worth noting that if you have mobility issues, do check on your room location in relation to the elevators. A breakfast buffet is provided on the ground floor and here you will find a selection of hot and cold food. You can easily pile up high a Full English breakfast (bacon, sausage, beans, eggs, toast, mushrooms and tomatoes), grab yourself a coffee and an orange juice and finish it off with some pastries and a pot of yoghurt. No doubt you’d have to be EXTREMELY hungry to eat all this! Whether you’re a tourist or visiting London on business, Holiday Inn Express Southwark certainly has you covered. Check-in and check-out are seamless, the staff are very helpful and friendly, the rooms spotless, warm and quiet and just ideal for putting your feet up and resting your weary head after a busy day out sightseeing or working!

Stayed here for one night and having stayed in a few IHG hotels I can say that the check in experience was great, the ladies on reception were very welcoming and there was a real Christmas vibe to the hotel. Got checked in and went to the room, this is where there were some issues. The keys cards issued did not work so had to go back to reception to get them replaced. Again, the ladies were really helpful with this. Finally got access to the room and decided to go for a walk later that evening. After the walk, got back to the room and couldn’t get in again. Went to reception and they acknowledged that there were sometimes issues with the locks on the room doors, the lady on reception came up with me and showed me how to access the room if the issue occurred again, this was done by lifting the door handle up, inserting the key then dropping the handle down, removing the key, re-inserting the key then getting access!! Sounds like a challenge? It was!!! If this is a known issue then just get it fixed. That said, reception were very apologetic. Next morning went for a shower and noticed 2 long black hairs hanging off the ceiling above the shower (see photo), I’m still trying to figure out how someone managed to get their hair attached to a ceiling!! Whilst the room was clean there were a few issues such as loose electrical sockets and panelling that was not securely fixed to the wall. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. Overall not a bad stay but there are a few issues

Love love love this hotel! Value for money. The front desk staff was so kind. I’m so sorry I could not recall your name. Starts with the letter T. She was so kind. We requested for an early check in as we just touched down London and reached the hotel. She was able to accommodate and told us the earliest time we could get our room. We left for a stroll and brunch, came back to the hotel and was told the room is ready and was told we were given a big room with beautiful views. We were not lied to!! Our room was quite spacious, and bright. There’s air conditioning and a good sized toilet. Toilet amenities were given on request though. We were very comfortable here. Borough Market, Big Ben, Tower/London Bridge were within walking distance. There were also a few train stations within the vicinity which made traveling in and out so easy. Definitely a place I would recommend and even return to! One thing that could be further improved would be the breakfast selection. We were there for a total of 6D5N, and everyday we were presented with the same spread 😓

This is a good hotel if you're looking for a more economical stay with a good breakfast. We had a great check in experience where we had arrived early and had a short wait for an early check in. The staff were very good here helping us find a table each morning for breakfast, made an ice pack for my wife's sore foot and they have a fridge to store food items behind the front desk.||The location was pretty good and it was a short walk to popular attractions like Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and Burough Market. There were a few restaurants nearby and we enjoyed grabbing quick bites at many of the nearby shops including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Amazon Fresh. There are lots of hotels in the area as well. The hotel is located about a 7 minute walk from Blackfriars station which offers Thameslink Service to Gatwick Airport and connects easily to the Elizabeth Line to go to Heathrow. It is within a 15 minute walk to Waterloo and Southwark stations and there are busses that go through the area too so it makes the city very accessible. It is worth checking out the train schedule because some trains go every 20-30 minutes instead of the frequency north of the Thames.||The room was nicely appointed with a comfy bed, four pillows, a small work space, a small wardrobe, tea station, large television, and some shelving to store our things. We were transiting through London and had brought three large suitcases with us and there was plenty of space for those. The hotel is located in a quieter area and the air conditioning is very strong so we enjoyed each night's sleep. There were signs posted that they were undergoing some maintenance work during our stay in August 2025 so it was very noisy after 9:30 am in the hotel. This is a temporary issue. We felt that the housekeeping could improve because we were provided with dirty hand towels a couple of times and they did not vacuum the floor at the entrance of the room. The wifi was good and if you've set up an IHG account before you can quickly and easily log in but we found that we had to reconnect each night.||The bathroom was pretty good with a nice new and clean shower. The shower was very good each night with an adjustable head, eco setting, good temperature control and tight seals to keep the water in. They have unique shampoo and body wash that are kale and parsley scented. There isn't much room to hang wet towels in the bathroom but they do have hooks in the bedroom that we used. ||The breakfast was good and we were happy it was included in our stay. They had all the fixings for an English breakfast with particularly good sausages and rashes of bacon. They also had yoghurt, fruit, cheese and some cereal for a lighter breakfast. The coffee machine was good for made to order options and there was a good selection of tea. You can make yourself a go bag as well and they will let you take food too. If you have dietary restrictions you can let the front desk know when you check in and they will accommodate.||We had a good stay here and it fit our itinerary. Picking a hotel in London can be tricky but the price, location, and room were...

I love every visit to a Holiday Inn Express and this was no exception, the team are warm and welcoming with a very special mention to Fillipo and Delilah they are friendly and yet have an air of style and effecient grace. They are both wonderful ambassadors for this lovely hotel. When you stay at this Hotel you get a real sense that all the staff are happy to be there, to assist and help you and really enjoy their jobs.

There is a current rejuvenation of the building going on but it's not in your face, but it's obvious but the end result being soon will be spectacular. I had the pleasure of being upgraded to a refurbished room and it's lovely. The rooms are good and functional, Possibly not every room is marvelous but if you really dont like a room go down and discuss it it with one of the Polite guys on the front desk and ask to change. The rooms have block out curtains, triple glazing and one of my favorite things which I have only found at Holiday Inn Express a blue night light in the bathroom. So a good nights sleep is almost gauranteed, though if you are sensitive to mild noise and vibration then ensure you ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, best you join IHG rewards program for free, to book the cheapest rate and put your room preference in your profile. The airco is great and keeps the room an ambient temp. The complimentary Breakfast is served in the restaurant downstairs has a very good buffet selection with bacon, sausage, eggs and usual assortment of breads, cereals and juices.

Within easy walking distance to the hotel is a a tube station and bus stops also lovely walk across Blackfriars bridge into the city and three different Express supermarkets close by. A very good vegetarian restaurant directly across the road, and Marcos some fancy chefs restaurant a few hundred meters down the road, had very good meals at both. The Tate modern and National theatre are both very close. The Thames river just a few minutes walk. The guys at the desk can help and assist with all your bookings, maps and advice on things to do.

All in All I love the staff here and there infectious behaviour makes me love their Hotel.

I highly...
