We recently stayed at ibis London Blackfriars and had a very good experience overall. This is a well-located budget hotel that delivers exactly what you’d expect: clean, functional rooms, efficient service, and great transport links.||Check-in & Service||Check-in was quick and hassle-free. We arrived early, and the staff kindly stored our luggage while we explored the city. Throughout our stay, the team was friendly and helpful. One thing we really appreciated was that the hotel allows you to store your luggage on the last day, making it easy to explore without carrying bags around.||Rooms & Comfort||The rooms are basic but well-equipped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (seems to be memory foam), and we had plenty of towels. The bathroom is a pod-style unit, all plastic but practical and clean. Our room was located right by the elevator (Room 1124), but noise was never an issue. The only downside is that the window is quite small, but since we spent most of our time exploring, it didn’t bother us.||Dining & Bar Options||We had breakfast in the hotel one morning, which was a simple but good buffet. You pay just before eating, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The hotel’s bar and restaurant are combined in the lobby, which is a casual and comfortable space. If you’re looking for something a little more upscale, the Novotel next door has a lovely bar—we went there twice for drinks and found the service excellent.||Transport & Location||This hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring London. It’s well connected by public transport:| • Southwark Tube Station (Jubilee Line) is just 100 meters away.| • Blackfriars Tube Station (Circle & District Lines) is a few blocks away at the bridge.||There’s also a taxi rank outside, though taking a cab can be pricey—we paid around £16 into the city. That said, London is a great city for walking, and we often opted to explore on foot. On our last day, we realized how convenient the location was: after visiting the Houses of Parliament, we crossed the river to check out the Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel, only to find ourselves back at Waterloo Station, just five minutes from the hotel. If the weather is nice, I’d highly recommend walking into central London—it takes around 20 to 25 minutes and is a great way to soak in the city.||Neighborhood & Safety||The area around the hotel is quiet and pleasant, a nice break from the crowds of Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. However, a quick safety tip: be aware of phone snatchers on electric mopeds. This nearly happened to us on our way to dinner—a group attempted to grab a phone, but luckily, it hit the ground instead. It was more of an opportunistic crime than anything violent, but it’s worth staying alert when using your phone in public.||Final Thoughts||Overall, ibis London Blackfriars is a solid choice for a budget-friendly stay in a well-connected part of London. The staff are great, the rooms are comfortable, and the transport options are excellent. If you’re looking for an affordable hotel with no frills but everything you need, this is a great option. We’d definitely...
Read moreI'm disappointed by the appalling service at this Ibis location. As a frequent Ibis guest, I've never experienced such poor treatment. The staff's rudeness and lack of empathy were staggering.
Unfortunately, the rating system doesn't allow for zero stars, but I'd gladly give it if I could. I strongly advise against staying at this Ibis. Look elsewhere for a decent and respectful hotel experience.
Disappointing Experience, Rude Staff. Their standard answer were sorry we can't help!!! The staff, particularly the receptionist, were incredibly rude and unaccommodating. The staff's attitude and lack of empathy made my stay truly unpleasant. I would recommend exploring alternative options, such as Airbnb or budget-friendly hotels, for a more enjoyable and respectful experience.
During my stay, I encountered several issues:
Requested a fan, but was denied. Experienced payment issues at check-in,The next day, my room key was deactivated without warning or communication. Upon returning to my room at night after bn out for all day, exhausted and laden with shopping bags, our key was deactivated . When I went down to the reception.I was refused access due to the payment not done. The receptionist refused to provide a temporary key, insisting to pay first. I requested her to please provide the key as I was not carrying my bags at that time, told her my husband is upstairs with all the bags We will come down to pay after dumping our stuff. She refused and no pay first. I had call my husband down from the room outside where he was waiting with all bags to make payment....This was embarassing!!! Requested to store my pack of milk in a fridge, but was denied as there was no fridge in the room. The body wash dispenser in our room was empty throughout our stay, and despite daily room cleaning, it was never refilled. Used cups and bowls were not removed from our room, despite the room being cleaned every day. The TV in our room did not work for the entire duration of our stay. When we reported the issue to the receptionist, we were told that it wasn't working in any of the...
Read moreGenerally ok, but the rooms and the hotel location are really inconvenient. No reason to come back, considering the competition.
Firstly, there is a subway and bus station nearby, but you will use the Waterloo station 99% of the time, because the places you want to go to in London are only easily accessible from there. So you pretty much have to walk every single time to the Waterloo station, and back when you return. That's 10-15min walk every single time in one direction.
The second issue are the super inconvenient rooms, especially for men of size L and above, I would guess.
Simple example, when I sit strait up in my bed and lean against the back of the bed, the bed slowly slides away from the wall because the bed can be freely moved around without resistance. So you can't lean against the back.
Another issues is the garbage bin, it is literally the size of a small bowl, looks like a toy, absolutely ridiculous.
Next issue are the bathrooms, which is not a room but a small cabin within the hotel room itself and especially the toilet is TINY, so tiny that I regularly rather use the toilet in the lobby than the one in my room. Since the bathroom is also no "room" but a thinly walled cabin within the room, you hear every single thing that is happening inside of it, with 10x amplification...
The room has also no fridge and there is no ice machine somewhere easily accessible. Has zero extras. Only a toy-sized 1£ water cooker.
Also, when we arrived, the sink was clogged and the sink plug stuck inside the sink. So that had to be fixed and the water wasn't still really easily going down well.
We won't come back again, at this location at least. It's just too many inconveniences. Also for my taste, the staff is chilling too much in the lobby. A little more formality and not randomly standing around or watching soccer on the big screen would certainly improve the impression that customers get.
Nobody seems really in charge of the user experience at Ibis, so you get what...
