Stepping into the cafe, I was immediately captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The soft glow of fairy lights, cozy seating, and soothing background music created the perfect ambiance for a relaxing afternoon.
The staff was simply exceptional, radiating genuine warmth and attentiveness. They were more than willing to cater to any requests, making sure every guest felt right at home. Their care and dedication added a personal touch to the entire experience, making it even more memorable.
As I eagerly anticipated the food, the presentation did not disappoint. Each dish was elegantly arranged, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. However, upon taking the first bite, I couldn't help but feel a slight pang of disappointment. The sourdough bread, though beautifully toasted, lacked the satisfying crunch I had hoped for.
The pancakes, while delicious in taste, could have benefited from a lighter hand on the oil. Nonetheless, the flavors managed to shine through, and I found myself savoring every bite. Perhaps the chef could fine-tune the preparation to elevate them further.
The coffee, unfortunately, fell short of my expectations. It appeared to be brewed from a regular coffee machine, resulting in a somewhat generic flavor profile. I yearned for a more distinctive and robust taste to complement the delightful spread.
For those seeking indulgent sweetness, the cafe offers some delightful options. From delectable pastries to mouthwatering desserts, the sugar lovers among us will find much to delight in. However, if you crave savory delights, I'd recommend exploring other venues with more varied options.
In conclusion, the cafe does have its charm with its warm ambiance and caring staff. While the food's appearance and some flavors impressed, there's room for improvement to fully satisfy the taste buds. Whether you're after a sweet treat or a savory delight, the cafe can cater to your cravings, but for a truly unforgettable culinary experience, a bit of fine-tuning may...
Read moreDid not live up to the high reviews I initially saw. Food portions decent, generally nice tasting though I think precooked and warmed up, for the price expected far better and fresher of the drinks and food. Coffee slightly disappointing tasting. Central London price but for average brunch. Staff were quite timid and cold, they need to be more warm, welcoming and confident... talk to your customers a little, ask how their day was, when your customers say thank you smile and say you're welcome, come on now basics!! That was shocking when we were served our drinks and food not told you're welcome after a thank you both times, really need training there. No how was your food or conversation when paying the bill, just didn't talk to us at all whilst taking payment, very bad service imo. Good service really makes a restaurant and customers notice the difference. We went when there was hardly anyone there so it's not like they didn't have the time or were busy to talk to the customers or provide friendly service. The 4pm close can make you feel rushed. Maybe I'll try Battersea instead for better service and less rushed opening times, if I do decide to try this place again. But Southwark not a place for a calming brunch, more if you want somewhere near work in Southwark/London Bridge that's super fast for lunch in and out and overpriced but lacking freshness and good service in return. Waiters also generally just not very attentive or switched on, took a while to get anyones attention to order too. I feel like tourists may like this more than Londoners, as there are better places. Other reviews also mention not very professional overall wait staff and food being average for a too premium price, and the coffee being...
Read moreCame here for a Saturday brunch with a friend and we were glad to have made a reservation beforehand as there was a queue (albeit short) when we arrived!
It was very busy in the restaurant so we didn't get served until we signalled to one of the staff that we wanted to order food and drinks. When a waitress eventually came, I started ordering food first but she immediately interrupted and said we had to go with drinks first then food which was frankly speaking quite rude and weird to have to do it that way - so service is a 2-star.
Food came fairly quickly given how busy the place was, and we went with the Strawberry Dream with pancakes and the Brunch Club with waffles. Honestly, the pancakes weren't impressive at all - they were chewy and hard and not fluffy and airy at all. The toppings were okay but overall the pancakes were really dry had there not been maple syrup to soften the pancakes. On the contrary, my friend enjoyed her waffles with the savoury toppings but didn't think they were so good that she wanted to come back again. I also ordered a large flat white on the side which was okay.
Vibes were good, friendly colours and wooden chairs and tables gave off a homely atmosphere. But because of the lower quality in service and food this wouldn't be a place to be...
