There’s something magical about Sundays – a day to slow down, savour good food, and spend quality time with loved ones. So when we were invited to experience the Bottomless Sunday Brunch Roast at OXBO Bankside, located in the stylish Hilton London Bankside, we couldn’t say no. A generous four-course offering, bottomless desserts, and an option for halal diners? Count us in!
From 12.30pm to 3.30pm every Sunday, diners are treated to a feast that’s both comforting and indulgent. For £42, you get four courses. If you fancy free-flowing bubbles, wine, or soft drinks for two hours, it’s just £58. We opted for the four-course halal-friendly experience and here’s how it went...
Let’s Start at the Market Table The market table was an inviting spread filled with fresh salads, vibrant roasted vegetables, cheeses, and charcuterie (non-halal options available). A perfect warm-up to what was ahead. I loved the roasted beetroot and couscous salad, while my wife enjoyed the creamy cheeses paired with artisan bread. My son? Straight to the olives and hummus, of course!
Open Kitchen Highlights – Eggs, Waffles & Pancakes From the open kitchen, we ordered a few brunch classics and they did not disappoint:
Eggs Royale Perfectly poached eggs rested atop a toasted English muffin, layered with smoked salmon and generously topped with a velvety Béarnaise sauce. Rich, tangy, and utterly satisfying – this was brunch bliss in every bite.
Malted Pancakes Fluffy, golden, and slightly sweet – these pancakes were served with a luscious berry compote, maple syrup, and whipped cream. The pancakes had a delightful bite to them, not too soft, not too dense.
Waffles Crisp on the outside, tender within, and beautifully complemented by the same berry compote and syrup. We couldn’t decide which was better – the pancakes or the waffles – so we had both. No regrets.
The Main Event – Sunday Roast
Roast Chicken My wife opted for the roast chicken, served with crispy roast potatoes and a classic Yorkshire pudding. The chicken was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned, while the potatoes were gloriously golden and crunchy on the outside. She was more than pleased with her choice.
Roast Beef My son and I both went for the roast beef. Mine arrived well-cooked and flavourful, accompanied by the same delicious roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. However, my son's beef was unfortunately quite tough, and his Yorkshire pudding arrived cold and hard.
We mentioned this to the staff, and I must give full credit to Urvesh, Ana, and the manager (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) – they were incredibly apologetic, quick to respond, and replaced the beef and pudding with kindness and efficiency. The new servings were a mixed bag – three of the puddings were still cold, but the other three were warm and fluffy. A little inconsistency, but the service more than made up for it.
Sweet Endings – Unlimited Desserts Now for my favourite part – the dessert table. This was a sugary playground filled with colourful mini cakes, mousses, fruit tarts, brownies, cheesecakes, and more. You could go up as many times as you wanted, and we definitely made the most of it!
Final Thoughts Was it perfect? Not quite. But would I return? Absolutely. Despite the hiccup with my son’s roast, the sheer variety of food, warm hospitality, and relaxed yet upscale atmosphere made for a fantastic family afternoon. The staff truly cared, and that goes a long way.

Read moreWe (four friends) got the bottomless Sunday roast brunch at Oxbo. We got there early (12:30) which was obviously the beginning of service so it was quiet expect for us. Soon enough the restaurant filled up and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a live singer/guitarist which was a fantastic accompaniment to lunch! He was really talented and sung lots of songs everyone will know and love. The starter table had a massive assortment of food and we barely scratched the surface, there was so much to try! It all tasted to fresh and delicious! The brunch was made to order at the kitchen window and again, was amazing. My friend and I had the eggs royale which was incredible. From the very beginning of the brunch we were given prosecco which was lovely. Our servers were so attentive and constantly topping us up to the point where we didn't actually know how much we'd had to drunk! The good thing was they provided enough food to make sure we weren't trolleyed 😁 and the prosecco station near the bottomless food was incredible! Elderflower syrup, raspberry puree and pineapple puree with a little bowl of strawberries and blackberries to top of the drinks. And not to worry if you accidentally add too much syrup because you'll get topped off soon enough and it'll taste great 😃 The roast was amazing! Two of us had the chicken, one the beef and one the gnocchi. The chicken was stunning, perfectly cooked with an amazing red wine jou. The beef was also perfectly cooked. The gnocchi was a bit lackluster so if your veggie/vegan you may find yourself disappointed. The sides with the roast were also amazing. There weren't many vegetables offered between us, but we didn't actually need them, given how much we'd had before the main! The desert table was similar to the starter table. So much choice it was crazy! And most of the options were bite sized so we got to try loads!
Overall, we got the January sale which was £49 per head which ended up being £55.50 ish with VAT and service charge added in.
We all said we would GLADLY return and hopefully soon!! I would recommend ANYONE who enjoys roasts, prosecco and having fun...
Read moreOxbo...Oxno, terrible service ruined our Christmas lunch celebration.
I don’t understand why Oxbo Bankside offer a bottle of wine, beers and coffee each as part of their Christmas lunch package and then upon arrival renege on this deal? The lunch itself was really delicious but we knew something was wrong when we noticed a particularly rowdy table all with their bottles of wine each and ours being gingerly poured by the waitress (the smallest measures too).
We suddenly thought hang on a minute we should each have our own bottle of wine so requested this. The waitress then told us that we hadn’t paid for this package which we then argued yes we have £42 each which included a bottle of wine, beers and coffee each. She disappeared for a couple of minutes then started to slam bottles of wine down on the table (disgraceful manners).
At the end of the meal we had the audacity to ask for our coffees to which we were told sorry you’ve run out of time, well no one told us at the beginning that we had an allocated time slot so again another argument ensued until they gave us our coffees. As we paid the bill I told the manager we would be removing the service charge as we didn’t get the beers that were also part of the deal - he said after much wrangling that we could pick some up at the end with much anger to which I replied what’s wrong with you we are only asking for what we paid for.
Truly shocking service from start to finish, I only gave a one star because of the food. OXBO Bankside clearly only offer this drinks package to get customers through the door then spend the entire service trying to wrangle out of giving you what you’ve paid for. If they had a good restaurant manager they could have made more money by asking those who weren’t drinking wine if they wanted to see a drinks menu. I will never ever book to go here again for a Christmas meal and will ensure they get no custom from friends or family. Please don’t advertise this kind of deal if your are not willing to...
