We are a group or three adults and four small children, booking together with two family rooms, intending to help care for the children together, so a room side by side was imperative. Upon arrival we paid for early check-in, went up to our two decently large rooms, but one of the rooms had an absolutely awful stench. It smelled of stale mould or some sort of rotting smell. House cleaning was only down the corridor so I went to ask for assistance, only to be told I had to go to reception. Leaving my two small children with the other parents, I went to reception and was offered to move ONLY one of the rooms, or to have a dehumidifier. That wouldn't remove the smell, and we needed to stay together. After some insistance that we needed rooms together, suddenly we would be able to have two rooms together and one of the rooms is ready now, but the other one isn't. I called the other members in my party to check this was okay and to tell them to pack up our belongings again, only to then be told that the rooms offered were actually not next to each other as said. Again, I said they need to be together. Reception then told me there are two rooms together, but neither are ready so all our things have to be brought back to reception to be held there. After what was a huge inconvenience to bring our things downstairs again, we then had to remind them to refund our early check-in fee, which was, at best, begrudgingly agreed to with a literal waving of her hand in our direction. We went about our day, and returned when the rooms are ready. We got to our rooms with thoroughly exhausted adults and children to find that we have been given significantly smaller rooms. Honestly it is hard to believe that we weren't given lower quality rooms due to the fact that I insisted on like for like situation with the rooms being next to each other. No room should have smelt like that first one in the first place, what were they thinking giving that to us as a 'ready' room, then for the whole exchange process to be such a fuss with no attempt to make up for the inconvenience. It's disgraceful and honestly this whole thing has ruined the...
Read moreThe service from the hotel staff at check-in / checkout was very good, they were extremely helpful (5 stars). The room was very comfortable and quiet, just what we needed (5 stars). Location was a new area for us in London, which we liked and close to the tube, so again 5 stars. The one thing that let this down was the restaurant. For breakfast, it was as we expected and quality good. There was a large queue so guests would need to wait to be seated, but all tables were being used. However the evening experience was different. We booked a table for 6pm as we had an appointment at 8:15 which we were allowing 30 mins to get to. This should have given us enough time. We were seated straight away with ample of empty tables. We decided to have a main course and pudding. After chasing our drinks (1 brought to the table, still waiting on 2) and other guests arriving after us and having food, we decided to order our dessert so we could leave on time. An hour and 15 mins had passed by this time. No sign of food. I then chased with the manager and our food suddenly arrived. My husbands steak looked fine (literally steak and chips.... A bit of side salad/mushroom/peas anything surely needs to accompany this as standard? My burger looked OK apart from the bun which was burnt, but my sons fish was absolutely covered in grease and grey! We sent this back straight away and because of the time, my son had my meal and I went without. The desserts followed very quickly, one OK and the other (sticky toffee pudding) still cold in the middle. The service wasnt the best. The manager was apologetic of corse, but the lady who was waiting tables etc seemed very bored and didn't care. All this being said, we would stay in the hotel again but just on a room only basis and skip the food. Premier Inn offer very appealing deals on the food but for us, at this hotel, it was a...
Read moreWe stayed here for a few nights recently, and the experience was okay! The following are just some of our thoughts regarding our recent stay:
Pros: Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable Check in was super easy, they also stored our suitcases when we arrived early in a locked room The hot breakfast was served next door at the restaurant and was a filling, tasty meal and had lots of options to choose from Location was great (near the tube, bus stops, and lots of restaurants - also nestled in a quiet street away from traffic). Also very walkable! Pillows were comfortable
Cons: Our double bed was two mattresses (two singles maybe) put together, which sometimes we’d sleep on the crevice… not ideal There wasn’t a phone, refrigerator, safe, or other “standard” amenities in our room (e.g., iron or steamer). That said, apparently they did have some of these amenities but you would have to go down to the front desk to ask for them (e.g., you could ask to have items locked in their safe at the front desk, or could ask for an iron). Just a bit inconvenient having to leave your room to go down to discuss this in person, rather than just being able to call them from the room You have to request at the front desk that your room be cleaned, otherwise it wouldn’t be - unfortunately, despite requesting this (before their cutoff time), on one of the days the message was seemingly not relayed and our room wasn’t cleaned Wifi was slow (required additional purchase for high-speed) One morning there wasn’t hot water throughout the building, but it was fixed by the evening when we returned
Overall, the stay was safe and comfortable, and worked for our visit. It just had a few “little things” that added up and are the reason we probably will look elsewhere for a hotel when visiting London...
