The 'Come Alive!' show at the Empress Museum was truly the highlight of my London visit. From the moment I arrived, the immersive pre show experience set the tone for an unforgettable evening.
The venue itself is transformed into a vibrant carnival, complete with gypsy caravans, mini show tents, and performers mingling with guests. Arriving early is a must to fully appreciate the interactive elements, such as fortune tellers and acrobats, which add an extra layer of excitement before the main event.
The staff's warmth and enthusiasm were evident from the start. Their friendly interactions made the experience even more special, making guests feel like part of the show. The attention to detail in the decor, including dressing rooms with costumes and themed bars, created an authentic circus atmosphere that was both captivating and Instagram worthy.
Once inside the intimate 700 seat Big Top, the performance exceeded all expectations. The talented cast delivered breathtaking acts, from aerial acrobatics to fire eating, each seamlessly choreographed to the iconic songs from 'The Greatest Showman.' The live singing was powerful and emotive, particularly during numbers like 'This Is Me' and 'Never Enough,' which gave me goosebumps.
The show's ability to blend circus artistry with musical theatre created a unique spectacle that was both exhilarating and heartwarming. The performers' dedication and skill were evident in every act, making it clear that this production is a labour of love. The intimate setting allowed for a closer connection with the performers, enhancing the...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. The show was very good Although we have seen it before, our instinct is they have cut some of the show and circus performers out. Obviously cannot substantiate, but it seemed loads less activity in the arena. The worst bit was DO NOT PAY FOR VIP IT IS A RIP-OFF. The offering was unlimited food and drink. While the drink was available the so called canapés, chicken nuggets, felafel deep fried halloumi....quality could all have been purchsed from Iceland. The quality apart, no one, not just our party in the while VIP area had more than 4 pieces each in the hour before the show. There was a mini burger and chips at the interval which everyone had cold. Most of the people that had paid £180 for this experience paid further for food from the take away stall at extra cost! Had we sat one seat to our right, 3 foot away, we would have paid £45. The staff when everyone complained were dismissive and very very rude. We spoke to 2 so called managers, both were aggressive to everyone who complained, not just our party. I seems so obscure that we paid £720 for the same view had we paid £180 and for the privilege we were starved and treated so very badly. It's such a shame. The show is brilliant but the rest of the experience is just dreadful. Save your money and buy standard tickets. There is quite a nice pub called the Prince near the entrance that wont cost you £135 If mum...
Read moreWent to see Come Alive at Empress Museum and was not disappointed. The show was top class and I would highly recommend it. The museum is just across the road from West Brompton Station which is served by the District Line and London Overground, so is easy to find. We couldn't find anywhere adjacent to the station or the museum to buy food and drinks but if you go left out of the station exit you will find shops and restaurants about 5-10 minutes walk away. Alternatively there are concessions available in the museum but as it only opens one hour before the show starts (unless you have VIP tickets which opens earlier) you could miss some of the pre-show exhibitions and entertainment as the queues looked quite long. So we were glad we took that short walk when we arrived!! If you get there early there are seats and benches outside the museum along with free toilets. We were fortunate enough to have booked on a day that the sun was shining, so it was a pleasant wait for the doors to open but would not be so good on a rainy day as nothing is under cover. Overall we had a wonderful day which was worth every penny - all the seats have a great view so no need to worry about whether you are too far away...
