First time here. We were very lucky to get the room on the Easter weekend. Wasn't sure what we were going to do until the last minute. Reserved the room on the Saturday afternoon to arrive Sunday early evening as we were out and about visiting friends in Brighton and then visiting friends in Bromley after check out so it made sense to stay the night there. Due to lots of partying during the day we didnt arrive until 11.30pm! I was happy to see that we had a nice clean modern room (room 218) waiting for us after a long day. All amenities were good though would have liked the shower to be a bit hotter. There is an iron with ironing board and hair dryer in the wardrobe. The iron just about takes the creases out. Used it and it's ok like a travel iron. If you want perfection they offer a laundry service for a small charge.Slept well beds were fairly comfy. Breakfast was nice set in a grand room. One reason I enjoyed it was because of the chill out music they had playing in the background. To be honest I did not expect to hear that type of music there at breakfast.Pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't packed out so could have breakfast with some peace and quiet. Food was good.Paid £10 to check out at 1pm . Check out is at 11am but they allow an extra hour upto 12pm free of charge. Useful if you need that extra hour of rest. Just one or two little niggles one may notice. The air con while affective is a bit noisy so during night time that may be a nuisance. For a room so modern the air con is in stark contrast, it is something from the 80s. Apart from two fairly large cobwebs a small hole in the bathroom wall cleanliness was very good. Its unfortunate that a few stains could not be removed from the carpet. Its obvious that they have tried to get whatever spilled onto the carpet out. Having said that about the carpet stains I wouldn't say that they are glaring but it is noticeable especially as one of them is right by the entrance to the room. The bathroom is quite boxy. If you attempt to wash your face you need to be mindful of the limited space or you may hit your face on the tap but I don't there is much they can do about it. Plus side for this place are the gardens. I think most of the rooms look onto this lovely floral area. Pretty flowers trees etc everywhere and a decent sized grass area for the kids to run around too. A few benches seated around as well as the many table and chairs means you are likely to find a nice place to enjoy refreshments under the sun. (We did for almost two hours. It was so blissful) I was really surprised to see that there are a few bike spaces to lock your bike up at the front of the hotel in the carpark. This I was really happy to see. As a keen cyclist it is somehing to remember when I return! There is at least one bar very close to reception. Again in the reception area there is plenty of seating while still maintaining a decent amount of space. I do not drive so I cannot comment on parking but there is a car park at the front. The staff were very warm and friendly. In conclusion £99 for a decent twin room for the night including breakfast for two people is excellent value. To be honest I was not sure what to expect as it was so cheap. It's worth mentioning that I called the hotel direct just trying my luck as this deal did not show up on the apps ie Booking. So glad I did. Will...
Read moreWe on first arrival were very pleased with the room. It was a good size and layout. However the bathroom was looking tired. It had had new silicone but certain areas of the tiling were not great and we even noticed a slight leak onto the tiled floor from the corner of the shower. The toilet roll holder was far too close to the toilet so you continually knocked the toilet roll off. The shower was awful. It was very difficult to actually get it to the required temperature and then when I had finally done this the power of the shower was very weak. Not good at all. We had our two dogs with us and initially were pleased with their welcome as there were two dog beds, two bowls with mats and two welcome bags with chewsticks, dog biscuits, poop bags and a tennis ball in each. However it was only once we arrived home and I was unpacking I noticed there was a use by date for the biscuits in the dog welcome pack of January 2025! Our biggest upset however sadly came at the end of our stay when going to breakfast. We had booked to have this at the time of booking the room when I had also specified we would be bringing two small dogs both under 10kgs. On arrival at the hotel and checking in we were asked what time we would like breakfast which would be in the restaurant on the 1st floor. I luckily checked then that the dogs would also be allowed into this area. The receptionist was not sure if they would be allowed and had to check which seems strange for a hotel that advertises dog friendly rooms and allows you to book these rooms stating you are bringing dogs and allows you to book breakfast then also. The answer was that they were not allowed in the restaurant however they advised that we could instead dine in the Garden Room which was right next to the restaurant. This sounded acceptable so we accepted this. However on arrival for breakfast the following morning we were made to feel completely like second class citizens compared to the rest of the diners. We were put in the Garden Room which was not properly laid out and was basically used as a spare space. It was not brightly lit like the restaurant and no tablecloth on the table like the restaurant. There was one table for us tucked around the corner and we shared the space with two ladies doing some sort of preparation for a wedding display. They were in very close proximity. The breakfast is buffet style mostly and not to a good standard at all. The food was just about warm. The tomatoes were burnt on top and only one hash brown left at the time though they were topping up the fried eggs which had not yet run out. The coffee machine was mediocre. We ate some breakfast and left as quickly as we could as we felt so unwelcome. It was like we were being accomodated rather than welcomed due to the dogs. We had paid £35 for the dogs for our one night stay. On checking out the receptionist asked if 'we had managed breakfast' which I think sums it up. We felt very upset and unwelcome...
Read moreFaded glory. Staff friendly and helpful. Room, big disappointment, we upgraded to a superior room. I'd have hated to see a standard room. Tiny bathroom, tatty chair with threads hanging out through wear. Dinner expensive and extremely average. £8 for a soup without any bread. Bread £4.25. Breakfast. Day one, had to ask for coffee twice, when it eventually arrived, they didn't bring any milk. Day two, appalling. Waited 20 minutes to be seated, eventually after being ignored for 15 minutes I grabbed a passing waiter and asked to be seated. There were plenty of tables available!! When we we went to the cereal area there was no muesli. When I asked for some, I was told, it's coming in on Monday! Can a hotel really run out of a basic like cereal? I decided I would have Branflakes, but then I noticed there were no bowls! Yet another request to a member of staff who went off to find some. My wife, in the meantime decided she had better collect two cooked breakfasts in case they closed the breakfast area. When I went to get a couple of pieces of brown toast they had closed the breakfast area. By now, well miffed, I drew back the curtains to find the staff having breakfast, there was no brown bread left, so yet another request to on of the staff for brown bread. When I returned to my table, I discovered we didn't have any jam's or preserves, they had been overlooked. I didn't bother asking for some, I simply nicked some off another table.. We we not late for breakfast, it was served until 10:00am on a Sunday. We had arrived around 9:25-30 had we not been kept waiting for 20 minutes before being shown to a table, it would have been plenty of time. The hotel feels like an old house which is in dire need of a facelift. The hotel room was tired and dated. We sat outside on the patio on our first evening and the paint was peeling off the walls of the building, it just feels unloved and needing some attention. Inside, I'm sure it was grand in the 30s, but the curtains look drab and the decor old. In our second night, we had been to a family wedding and on our return, around 10:00pm, the car park was full, and the road outside was full too. There was obviously a private do on and the disco kept us awake until it ended. Sadly, people leaving the hotel rather noisily, awoke us after we had at last dropped off ...
Staff were helpful and friendly, but processes were dreadful. When you are 'checked-in' for breakfast why don't they simply ask if you'd like coffee or tea and take your order and pass it on. The haphazard way they approach this means we had to grab a waiter both mornings to order our drinks.
Sorry, but I would not chose to stay there again and would not recommend the Bromley Court Hotel to...
