So I was in Town Picking up my Mrs from Piccadilly station after a business meeting in Oxford and I got there a little bit early so as I was walking up the station approach I stumbled across the Piccadilly tap so I decided to wet my whistle. I walked in and headed straight to the bar and I ordered a pint of IPA(I can't remember the name) but service was friendly enough, Great pint i paid £5.50(You can pay cash or card), Chilled out relaxed atmosphere mixture of working class to office types, There is outside seating aswell internal seating. Pint was very nice and very hoppy and was well served and the bar was clean and tidy, Polite and friendly staff. Great experience, Great pint and a stone throw from Piccadilly station. Me and my Wife post alot of reviews on Google and we always give out honest opinion and feedback on everything from service, value for money, cleanliness, customer service, ambience etc. We have reviewed everything from being at a pub/restaurants near our home in Manchester to football stadiums, Beauty treatments, Beach clubs, Hotels, Airbnbs, Flights etc. From Manchester to Split(Croatia), Supetar(Brac, Croatia), Hvar(Croatia), Rome(Italy), Vatican City(Rome), Bezier Cap de' agde(South Of France), Podgorica(Montenegro), Budva(Montenegro), Tirana(Albania), Sarande(Albania), Ksamil(Albania), Krakow(Poland), Zakopane(Poland) and in a few weeks we are off to Cape Verde. We currently have nearly 32,000,000+ views on Google alone. 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆

I am a big fan of the Picc Tap. Whilst they have a diverse range of beers, I invariably end up drinking Big Trip. ‘Coz it’s bloody good and always on. The decor is ‘retrutilitarian’ and funnily enough takes me back to ‘80s Dublin. Bus Áras. No idea why. But it works for me. The thing I love most is the music. It’s always fantastic, eclectic; my knee taps, my head nods, and it makes me stay for another pint, and more. Staff are always great and it’s good value. The Tap does however, need to update the hours on Google, so I know whether it’s worth coming in or not. I’m sat here on a Thursday night; Google says midnight closing and at 1030 they are turning away a LOT of people, in January! Anyway, that is but a minor gripe. Still love it. It’s a great place to watch people hustling to, and dragging themselves from Piccadilly Station.

13/09/25: not done a photo update for a while. Currently enjoying the Black Edge: Ginger spiced ale ginger bitter 4.5% 14/04/22: not my first visit here and quite often overlooked on a Ale trail through town. Fantastic list of craft ales, keg & cask, not to mention ciders. Outside, downstairs and upstairs seating, spacious and clean. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good location for the train station users, getting good foot traffic from railway users, but somewhat out of the way from the centre of Manchester. Easy to find though and situated on the left of Station Approach on the uphill ramp. Dog friendly!

I called in at the Piccadilly Tap on my way to Manchester Picc station to get the train to Sheffield. I'd past a number of hostelries that didn't look much to my liking but the Picc Tap appeared somewhat more promising. Wow....what a place !! A nice cosy atmosphere, an excellent choice of beers and welcoming staff. I chose the Abbeydale Heathen at 4.1% and it turned out to be one of the best draught beers I'd had in a looong time. As I suspected, it was actually brewed in Sheffield at the Abbeydale Brewery. Absolutely packed with flavour and not overly hoppy. I have to single out one of the bar staff although I didn't catch his name but we chatted about music and bands as I'd just come from the Gorilla having seen Nada Surf. I think one of the best gigs I'd ever been to. So I recommended one or two artists and the guy behind the bar did also. Unfortunately, he had clientele to serve and I had a train to catch, and so I had to dash off but I just felt obliged to give the guy a mention. Thankfully, I managed to catch the last train to Sheffield, unlike earlier in the year when I had to spend an uncomfortable five hours in the station having missed the last train. All in all, a top place prompting me to leave a review and a very worthy...

Well, an experience I had here back in February was when they were clearly cleaning up before closing early on a Monday — and two bar mats had been unevenly placed on top of one another by staff at the front of the bar, and whilst trying to talk to them (in retrospect I shouldn’t have) I put my drink down without looking (as pretty much I always do), and it went flying on its side, and went all over the floor, after only a couple of sips. I offered to clean up on my side, and did do when given a roll of tissues or whatever… then asked if maybe they could top it up or if it was my own responsibility — one of the ladies said “your own responsibility, unfortunately” — so I basically paid £5 to have a pint of beer be spilt on the floor due to the mistakes of the staff just leaving things around that they shouldn’t have (if still serving), and this has never, ever happened anywhere else in all of my years of drinking, and I knew that it was due to the uneven mats due to testing them with my quarter of a pint left....
