Lovely stay at this hotel. I was visiting family with my partner and 3 year old daughter. The area is nice, short walk to some bars/pubs as well as a Waitrose and some food places. We hired a car while we was there to get back and forth as my family lived in Gateshead which was only a 10 minute drive. We visited the beach a couple of times as well as angle of the north which wheee 20-30 minutes to get to. Check in was simple took about 5 minutes and we was greeted by the receptionist (sorry I can’t remember to it name) who explained everything to us. We was on the 1st floor and had access to a lift for easy access to room. We had a family room which had a double bed and a single bed. Rooms are nice, but could do with a little update as they are quite dated but this didn’t bother us at all. The beds where super comfy and we all had fantastic nights sleep while here. We only had breakfast once while there due to our daughter waking up at 10:00am most days. There was a choice of 3 different cereal, fresh fruit, toast (brown or white), tea, coffee, croissants, apple and orange juice. The lady serving breakfast in the morning was super helpful and warming towards my daughter and made her a yummy hot chocolate. All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely be back again when we next visit...
Read moreOur Spanish, non-English speaking friend booked for 3 nights at this hotel to be able to attend our wedding. After the first night, she was told she was being moved to another hotel and a taxi had been booked. She had to leave our wedding party to go back to hotel at which point she found out the staff had entered her room packed up her belongings and removed them from her room without her permission. Staff then put her in a taxi and sent her off on her own to another hotel, in a city she was not familiar with. Look at OYO's twitter page, you will see lots of comments about OYO taking bookings for hotels and then failing to honour them. Receptionist was rude and looked terrible with shirt untucked and even threatened to call police accusing us of harassment when we visited the next day to find out what was going on. Staff made no effort to communicate in Spanish, and showed no sympathy. This whole episode caused our friend significant distress and ruined her visit. I feel ashamed that this happened in my home town. Avoid this place...
Read moreAwful experience before and during our stay. We were staying here for a wedding. My family had 3 rooms booked. One of these bookings was cancelled the day before we were all due to stay (leaving us with no notice to book an extra room elsewhere). When contacting OYO we got no solution and were simply told that the rooms had been overbooked. We were also told that another one of our bookings would probably also be cancelled. Couldn’t get a straight answer as to whether this was actually cancelled or not. When calling the hotel itself we spoke to the receptionist who was extremely rude and unhelpful. My partner and I did end up staying at the hotel (they decided not to cancel our booking) and were met by the receptionist who was again extremely rude. We called to be let in as the front door was locked and were huffed and puffed at and then hung up on. The rooms themselves were dirty and dusty. Will not be staying with any OYO hotels in future due to the absolute disorganisation and lack of...
