The Pheonix burger isn't great and is covered in that orange sauce you get from the van in B&Q's car park and stuck in a cheap bun that disintegrated in the sloppy mess. The chips were OK. The halloumi wrap was OK but without any great presentation but should have been on the 'Light Bite' menu and priced at around £5 rather than £11.50. The bar manager made a little effort at an apology when he mistakenly asked how our meal was but you could tell he was more embarrassed he'd asked rather than for the food. With a single pint of beer and a cup of coffee the bill came to over thirty quid. Having recently been in London and spending nearly a hundred pounds for lunch on a couple of occasions you'll understand it was the quality and value for money that disappointed rather than the actual cost (and this is Newcastle, not London).
