I recently visited Chakh Dhoom in Newcastle, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. This restaurant has truly mastered the art of North Indian street food, offering a vibrant and flavorful journey with every dish.
For starters, I began with the fried momos, which were a delightful treat. The crispy exterior perfectly complemented the savory and well-seasoned filling. Next, I tried the veg Manchurian, which featured crispy vegetable balls in a rich, tangy gravy that was bursting with flavor. The highlight of the starters was the kasoori chicken tikka. The chicken was tender and juicy, marinated with aromatic spices and herbs that left a lasting impression.
Moving on to the main course, I indulged in the Darya Ganj butter chicken paired with saffron rice. The butter chicken was a creamy, luscious delight with a perfect balance of spices and sweetness. The saffron rice was fragrant and fluffy, providing the ideal accompaniment to the rich and flavorful butter chicken.
To round off the meal, I enjoyed two exquisite mocktails: Queen of Dreams and Mango Pluckers. The Queen of Dreams was a refreshing and elegantly crafted drink that complemented the meal perfectly. The Mango Pluckers, with its vibrant mango flavor, was both refreshing and satisfying, adding a tropical twist to the dining experience.
Overall, my visit to Chakh Dhoom was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and warm ambiance made it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Chakh Dhoom to anyone looking to savor authentic North Indian street food...

I had the pleasure of dining at Chak Dhoom a month ago, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We had wisely booked our table in advance, ensuring we didn't have to wait to start our culinary journey.
Upon arrival, we were initially seated at a table that didn't quite suit our preferences. However, our waiter, Chris, was incredibly accommodating and warm. Noticing our hesitation, he graciously moved us to a cozy sofa table, which significantly enhanced our comfort. Chris's cheerful demeanor and positive energy were contagious, and his constant smile truly added to our dining experience.
The food was nothing short of amazing. Each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented, offering an authentic taste of Indian cuisine. From the fragrant biryani to the creamy butter chicken, every bite was a delight to the senses. We couldn't have asked for a better meal. However, we did notice that the quantities could be improved, and the saffron pilavanu lacked the prominent saffron flavor we were expecting.
Moreover, the restaurant is conveniently located next to a hotel, making it an ideal spot for travelers or those looking to enjoy a meal before retreating for the night.
Overall, our experience at Chak Dhoom was wonderful, thanks to the delicious food and exceptional service. Chris’s friendly vibe and willingness to go the extra mile made our visit memorable. We look forward to visiting again soon. Only improvement is bit of extra quantity would...
Read moreFour of us visited on the 30th December 2023 for my brothers birthday. We knew this place was new, but had heard good word of mouth. We were welcomed warmly on arrival and the staff were really friendly and attentive and talked us through the menu.
We started with some cocktails, which we all really lovely, I had the Curry Leaf Cooler which was a great Indian twist on a G&T. Everyone commented on how good their cocktails were.
We then had some popadoms and the Gol Gappa - which were delicious. We ordered a main curry each, plus some chaats so we could all share, and the food was absolutely incredible, so tasty and flavoursome. Amazingly prepared and looked beautiful on the plate.
I didn’t catch the name of the guy serving us but he was really friendly and had recommended a couple of dishes that we ordered that we loved - so were really great recommendations. He was really warm and friendly. So the service here, as well as the food was top-notch.
Genuinely I think this is the best Indian food I’ve had in the UK, and certainly the best Indian food I’ve had in Newcastle. All the starters, chaats, curries and breads we had were absolutely delicious. Also I think it’s really, really reasonably priced. Everyone in our group was hugely impressed.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. On the drive back I asked my partner what she’d rate Chakh Dhoom out of 10, and she said 10, without hesitation. I can’t disagree with that. You must check this place out, you won’t be...
