As a Marriott Gold member, I am sharing my experiences from recent stays at the hotel group in May 2024.
Moxy Slough (1 star) - Beware of Poor Service and Hygiene, Especially for Extended Stays
The location of this hotel, close to Slough train station, provides easy access to London and Windsor. However, the hygiene standards and service quality fell far short of my expectations, as well as the standards typically associated with the Marriott brand. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in early May 2024 and encountered several major issues: On Day 2, I requested room cleaning and housekeeping services, but was informed it was too late to accommodate my request, despite it being well before normal checkout time. I was promised the services would be arranged for the following day (Day 3). Unfortunately, despite witnessing housekeeping activities in the hallway on the morning of Day 3, my room remained untouched upon my return that evening. The lack of housekeeping continued on Day 4, and my room was left in an unacceptable condition, with the toilet and trash bin not being cleaned.
Throughout my 5-night stay, my room was never properly serviced by housekeeping. In addition to the lack of cleaning, I also noticed issues with the bed sheets, towels, and toilet setup, which posed potential safety concerns. The TV remote in my room was also not functioning properly. After checking out, I sent a complaint to both the hotel and Marriott customer service, but my emails were ignored, and I received no response regarding my very poor experience.
In summary, the key issues I faced were: Consistent lack of housekeeping and room cleaning, even after my requests Unacceptable hygiene standards, including dirty bed sheets, towels, and an improperly set up toilet Malfunctioning TV remote Lack of response from both the hotel and Marriott customer service regarding my complaint

Read moreToday I visited Moxy Slough with one of my friends and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory, primarily due to the disrespectful treatment I received from one of the receptionists named Paula (MALE). As someone who works as a receptionist in The JMK Group Organisation, this is not how staff members are trained.
From the moment I stepped into the establishment, it was evident that Paula's attitude was less than welcoming. His tone was condescending, and his demeanor made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. Despite my efforts to engage in a polite conversation, Paula continued to be dismissive and unhelpful.
Moreover, when I sought assistance from the captain/shift leader on duty, I was met with a similar lack of cooperation when I called her after we was commanded to leave the premises by Paula with the threat to call the police after we had agreed we will leave. Instead of addressing my concerns, the captain appeared indifferent and offered no resolution to the situation, she (the captain/shift leader) was told that by myself that we have no problem waiting on hold for her to speak to her staff in the next room about this matter, she refused.
What further added to my disappointment was the discrepancy in information provided by Paula and other staff members. While Paula insisted on certain rules regarding seating, other staff members informed me that patrons are welcome to occupy seating as long as they make a small purchase—a policy that was communicated to me initially and in the past no other staff member had an issue with us sitting in the lounge area.
I hope that management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the behavior of their staff to ensure that all patrons are treated with the respect and courtesy they deserve. This is absolutely unacceptable and outrageous behaviour from the management, please retrain your incompetent employees to handle...
Read moreNice hotel, average-poor service. We stayed at this hotel through a deal with Thorpe Park at a good price so not too bothered but wouldn’t be happy paying the prices I’ve seen online for this place! They take a £50 charge on check-in on a credit card which I found quite strange, and it took a week or so to refund which can be inconvenient to some. Our stay was off to a bad start when we arrived late at night from a flight, checked in and found a person on the bed in our room! In fairness, the manager was very apologetic and brought a bottle of wine to our new room. Rooms are nicely decorated but very basic for what claims to be a 4* hotel - no desk, no wardrobe, no cupboard, no-where to hand more than 1 item of clothing, no fridge or water facilities. The tap in the bathroom is mounted right on the edge of the sink so it splashes water everywhere whenever it’s used. We came back from our day out and found the room hadn’t been cleaned; we had a takeaway the night before as we arrived late and weren’t best pleased to find the dirty dishes and the full bin still there; queried with reception and were told cleaning is by request and has to be made before 9am! Also asked for some fresh towels on the 2nd day and told there weren’t any..! Never seen this in a hotel before, I mean even a Travelodge will clean the room daily for you!
On the other hand, the building itself is quite nice, it’s modern and clean with a cool bar area and has the potential to be a nice 4/5* hotel but just appears to be poorly managed at present, very disappointing from a Marriott owned establishment.
In short, this is by absolutely no means a 4-star hotel so don’t be expecting it when booking - if all you’re looking for is somewhere to put your head down to sleep; save your money and book a cheap pub hotel or Travelodge instead, at least then you know what...
