Herschel Park is a lovely and peaceful green space in the heart of Slough. It's well-maintained, with beautiful landscaping, a large pond, and a variety of trees and flowers that make it perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic. The park has plenty of benches, open grassy areas for kids to play, and wide paths that are great for walking, jogging, or pushing a stroller.

It’s a great place for families, especially with young children, as it feels safe and welcoming. The wildlife around the pond, like ducks and birds, adds to the charm. It’s also a nice spot for photography or just enjoying a bit of quiet away from the busy town center.

However, parking nearby can be a bit tricky at times, and more public toilets would be helpful. Overall, it’s a hidden gem in Slough and definitely worth a visit if you’re...

One of Slough's secret locations. Historic gardens with ornamental trees and landscaped lake, hidden down an alleyway only a short walk from the town centre. Popular as a location for children to feed the ducks. Car park is relatively small and often closed at odd times, but depending on when you visit, street parking is possible relatively nearby, although not directly adjacent to the park which is mostly surrounded by private roads. The nature reserve area of the park is more wild and has two paths leading through to some seating areas. Sometimes in summer there are events there in the day with things such as a petting zoo and the local fire brigade in attendance. My son's favourite place to visit (except for when he is in the mood for swings and slides, rather than just...

There are two distinctly different sections to this park. The North Side is the original park dating back to Victorian times and is beautifully designed and looked after with attactive flower borders/beds together with winding paths, a small lake and some important trees. This part of the park covers 7.8 acres. The South Side of the park, added in 1982 is a complete contrast. A further 11.3 acres it has been left as a wild natural nature reserve. The area extends right the way down to the motorway. There is a small car park just off the Datchet Road which can take about 8 to 10 cars. Note that this car park is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm or dusk whichever is sooner. If your car is locked in, it won't be accessible until 8.00am the...

A once beautiful park with lovely walkways and some of the numerous trees were brought from abroad in the Victoria era. I was there in the evening last week and was horrified to see numerous rats scampering about particularly near the duck pond. I was then horrified to see families throwing bread to the rats as well as the ducks and laughing at doing so! At one point I counted 12 rats within a small area, although I couldn't photograph them altogether. This is a matter that Slough Coucil should address ASAP as it must impact on the hygiene and health of residents in the area, some of whom obviously find the issue amusing!
