We dined at Swagath Restaurant this evening (12/05/2024 18:30 hours; it’s not a fake review as I have bill and Credit card statement, see images below) and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Despite requesting a mild kids' version of daal tadka, the dish was excessively spicy, loaded with 3 sliced green and one whole red chili. Upon requesting a replacement, they simply removed the chilies and added sugar, resulting in a rather unpleasant aftertaste with the same heat. I couldn’t feed my kids at all. Also, cleanliness standards were disappointing. When I requested a highchair for my daughter, the one provided was visibly dirty. Upon asking for it to be cleaned, the staff replaced it with another chair that had a similar unclean appearance. What was more concerning was that the staff member used their bare hands to scrape off food particles from the chair. A simple solution of antibacterial spray and a tissue would have been more hygienic and reassuring.
Furthermore, they were unable to accommodate a simple order for mini idlis and mango milkshake/lassi for my kids. Reason for mini idli not available was that they already have full size idli made up?? If you have something in stock that doesn’t mean customers have to eat what’s available. You could have made mini idli as the batter is the same regardless of the idli size. And mango milk shake sold out?? It was 6:30 on Sunday evening and we were the only customer; how well managed/stocked you are for summer evening meals!!
The overall spiciness of the coconut chutney and sambhar was also overwhelming. While Indian cuisine is renowned for its rich flavors, it shouldn't equate to overpowering heat. Balancing spices is key to allowing the true essence of the dishes to shine through.
In conclusion, while Swagath Restaurant may have potential, improvements in both food preparation and customer service are necessary to provide a more enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately this is my last visit...
Read moreHave been here about 9-10 times now with family and individually.. the food is really good and meets the "South Indian" spice level compared to other restaurants which reduce the spiciness typically. The chilli chicken starter literally meets it's name - was surprisingly very spicy but we loved it! (wish I took a picture!). The Hyderabadi lamb fry starter was very good - spicy and authentic. For mains - the Chettinad chicken curry was very good I'd definitely order it again. The chicken tikka masala was as usual in taste, Kadai chicken was also delicious, the garlic naan was better than the regular naan (more thicker in texture and filling), cheese naan and chilli naan unfortunately did disappoint us. Rajukodi garu chicken (rice dish like biriyani) was spicy and good as well. One thing I was looking forward to was the Hyderabadi Dum chicken biriyani however found that it was nothing special here, maybe I was expecting something extraordinary. It's good but don't know if it's great. The portion sizes are good however disappointing that you are charged £2.00 something for a small bottle of water, I would have thought water would be free. It would also be nice to see a dessert section with South Indian desserts, I am sure customers would love to have something sweet after the authentic spicy food. One suggestion - the wash basin area is small as it is, moving the bin away from there could provide more space to stand and wash your hand. Also the few times we've tried to order traditional dishes from Andhra Pradesh, the staff said it's not available which was a bit disappointing as we did want to try regional dishes. That being said it will definitely be our go to Indian restaurant in Slough and I will recommend it to others if you are looking for traditional authentic true spicy...
Read moreWe ordered Raju kari kodi , chicken lollipop as a starter and Hyderabad dum briyani and chilli garlic naan and gongura chicken as a main course for 2 people at one shot .
the Taste of the masala for Rajukari kodi was okay but the meat which they have used was very worst as none of the chef will use those chicken pieces when they prepare food at restaurants and we left almost 4 pieces to dustbin . I have never seen such chicken pieces in any of the hotel in my lifetime . Lollipop was blend and couldn’t feel it as andhra styled preparation .
Both the dishes were served warm and not hot and usually all the restaurant serves hot .
When comes to main course naan was served hot and good but the gongura chicken gravy was very bad and I have eaten this dish many times in my lifetime and this was one of worst experience .
When comes to Hyderabad mutton dum biryani there is no mutton pieces and we hardly found 3 - 4 mini pieces of mutton like chilli chicken pieces and the taste was very bad as usual .
I have reported this to service man but no response and also asked for water to drink but he didn’t bother to serve water on the request also .
We came to taste the andhra style food and it was very worst experience in UK for the first time in my 6 years .
I couldn’t click any pic as an evidence . But I would say not to try anything here . I have spent almost 43 pounds for 2 people without eating anything and my mistake was I have ordered everything in one go .
My date of visit is 01/12/24 and at 3 PM and I’m attaching my receipt here...
