We stayed at the Premier Inn at Stroud for two nights at the end of August. The hotel was easy to find on the outskirts of the town. Parking was free to residents as long as you checked your number plate in at reception. We also requested that the room be ‘made up’ the next morning. I understand that these days, they do not make up your room each day unless you specifically request for this.|We were given Room 11 on the Lower Gound Floor. We didn’t realize until the following morning that our room and all the rooms numbered 10 to 14 were at a lower level with very small windows and were extremely dark. You had to have the lights on all the time you were in your room. They looked out to the car park of the pub next door and (I suppose for privacy) they had shrubs growing against the windows. However, anyone outside could still easily see inside if you had the lights on – and you had to have the lights on during the day. I was very disappointed that we were given this dingy room. We had booked many weeks in advance and we were staying for 2 nights. I would have expected that they would give us a better room under such circumstances. It didn’t look like they were fully booked. At least, these rooms should have a warning about the location and offered at a discount. |The room itself was fine. Just what you would expect from a Premier Inn. The bathroom was clean although a bit tired and in need of a refurb. One other complaint was that the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was on the opposite wall to the toilet pan. Ridiculous, as many shorter people (like myself) could not reach the toilet paper when you are sat on the loo. Who on earth allowed it to be put there!|There was a Brewer’s Fayre next door for breakfast and dinner which was just what you would expect...
Read moreNice warm room, comfortable bed and all facilities. Nice big shower and the curtains blocked out all the light. Couple of little issues that showed up, purely by me being very picky. Said curtains covered the radiator so lost the heat from it. No bedside power socket, needed for my CPAP breathing machine, only a usb outlet. Two tea bags and a few instant coffee sachets in the tray. Toilet paper in a holder across the room from the loo, only an issue for short people though. Too be fair, reception were aware of the socket issue and provided an extension lead on request. Overall, the staff everywhere I came into contact with, were very friendly, helpful and professional. Now comes the downside, paid for a meal deal in the Brewers Fayre which is part of the building. It consists of a two-course meal and a drink in the evening and a full buffet breakfast in the morning. Starter of prawn cocktail was ok, the “malt” bread to accompany seemed to be plain brown to me. Main course of fish and chips, what could possibly go wrong? Greasy, soggy batter, overcooked fish, peas and soggy chips that had been under the warming lights for ages. Asked if I wanted any sauce, I asked for mayonnaise. What turned up was the smallest dish they could find with about a large teaspoonful of white stuff in it. Tasted like the cheapest mayonnaise you could find and to make matters worse they had used it to make the tartare sauce as well, which they had waved a few ingredients over to claim its name. Of course, nobody came and asked “how was the meal”, I think they knew. Unusually I did not send it back, due to being in a group and not wishing to disrupt the others. Stupid I know. Breakfast was cheap and cheerful but actually good value and I would...
Read moreI have stayed in Premier Inn's all over the UK over many years for business, but I have never received such hospitality in any other hotel and I include 5 star hotels throughout the world!! My car had broken down in the hotel car park and couldn't be fixed or towed for 2 days. Both Kirsty (Manager) and Dee, were very kind, professional and compassionate about my situation and nothing was too much trouble for them. Due to time, had to stay a 3rd evening which was unexpected, but the girls soon booked me a room, arranged food and a hot drink and complimentary breakfast! I also witnessed how amazing these girls are when two guests turned up late for a room, but were fully booked. In my experience, most other hotels would have done nothing more, but they stepped up and nothing was too much trouble for them. I also witnessed how amazing these girls are when two guests turned up late for a room, but were fully booked. In my experience, most other hotels would have done nothing more, but they stepped up again and called a local business to enquire if they had accommodation for the two tired, wet and hungry people. The service from both Kirsty and Dee is absolutely 5 stars!!! What lovely people. If you want to stay in a hotel where they go above and beyond, then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Premier Inn Stroud!!...
