Apologies in advance, I'm terrible at being concise! The food is generally good, building is very nice but the service is lacking. I'm a bit surprised to see so many people praising the service as we've had quite cold service. A lot of the staff are ladies around my age, so I always try having a chat with them or a little banter, but they are not very friendly to us at all. They never smile or are talkative and they chew gum. No one ever asks if we enjoyed our meal or anything. Also why on earth is there still no table service? The rest of the world has had to go back to normal, perhaps the waitresses have slowly become less friendly as they have had fewer and fewer interactions with customers for years now. We were curious what the soup of the day was so we asked a young lad sorting cutlery who was the complete opposite to the girls, super friendly, jokey and very warm. Admittedly it was also a bit disappointing to hear that your soup of the day is some vague carrot based soup 'with onions' that has not changed all year. Please do not tell off the staff for telling me this, I prefer that he was honest and you guys should make a soup that he'd be proud to sell to me. On a positive note, they serve good quality food at decent prices and if you're looking for an all day breakfast, you're far better off at Curio than one of the greasy caffs nearby. The menu has a wide variety of cuisines so there should be something for everyone. The building itself is huge and impressive with a lovely upstairs dining area with tables and sofas for those wanting a more casual experience. We do like Curio Lounge we just feel let down by the service. Sorry again...
Read moreI usual love this place but today was very disappointing. No tazatziki on my flatbread but because it was a takeaway order I didn't know this till I got home and its so frustrating given its my favourite part of the dish and the rest of my experience wasnt ideal. Order fine food made fast but the man came out with a pile of boxes and then just put them on a table, I sort of looked at him then looked at the girl behind the counter and she said 'aren't there any bags' he said 'noooo ....' then proceeded to enter a cupboard and joke about her purse being usable. At this point it was actually getting quite rude, no one can carry 5 takeaway boxes easily without a bag, my food was getting cold while he made jokes. They took what looked like rubbish/old recepits out of a plastic bag and put my things in that. It was quiet, I can't understand why this happenned. Just super dissapointing, and no attention to detail for the click and collect experience.
*I had a bad back which is why I was getting a takeaway and despite explaining this they continued to make jokes rather than find a solution. I wish I'd spent that time checking my food now.
Update: lord I just checked the burger, no garlic mayo maybe 1/4 of the salad you would usual get when sitting in, I think its really clear the chef doesn't like doing the takeaway orders, so why offer it? Quite angry now as I'm a regular and was getting a takeaway to cheer me up not annoy...
Read moreYesterday, Sunday the 2nd of November, we went with a couple of friends to this new place in Letchworth. At the time we have paid, we have been informed about some delay in the kitchen. But this was supposed to be just 30 minutes, not more than the double. In fact, the chef took 1:12 minutes to deliver 5 meals. Normally a great time corresponds to great meal, but this is my score:
3 burgers, dry, re-heated and overcooked. 1 Pulled pork, almost fine, other than for the fact the sauce was nowhere is not at a side 1 fish cake that was reasonably good.
Two waiters have been asked where our meal was over time. The first one who said "I'll go and check" has never came back to inform us. The second, after 45 minutes who apologised for the delay, said another 5 minutes. When I said, ask the chef for more chips to alleviate the anger returned by saying we would have received them for free. We never saw that chips at all.
Useless to say there is no way for us to come again, especially considering that this place is not abiding to the health and safety standard. One bottle of poisoning disinfectant has been left on the floor amid all the little children playing around that could have got the bottle and accidentally ingest it. I took pictures of this just in case.
When alerted by my wife the manager was not that much concerned. It was only when she said she works in the industry that he jumped over to remove the...
