We went here for their Bottomless Brunch. The overall experience was not a great one. Feedback amongst our group was that the cocktails appeared to "be light on alcohol". The bottle beer was calsberg.
We were given a briefing on arrival in terms of ordering more drinks and the process for ordering food. We were told the first order would be purely drinks (why we couldn't order food at the same time was a mystery), and would not be until the official start time (which was fine). In reality we had to wake a further 10 minutes into our 90 minute session before our first drinks order was taken. When food was ordered it took a while too (the food not being delivered until 45 minutes in). When it arrived, the pizzas were burnt too. Whilst they did say we could order more once we'd finished, the reality was that this would be impossible, due to the slow service.
Our group has probably done 20 Bottomless brunches across Wakefield and Leeds and this has to rank as one of the worst. Whether they were intentionally slow to encourage more responsible drinking, or to improve their profit margin is unclear.
Overall though a disappointing experience, and not one...
Read moreVisiting friend in Wakefield and went here for live music on a sunday. OMG what a brilliant night. I had never heard of the regular sunday singer Matt Hodges ? ( look up on utube ) History being that he had a internet live gig weekly during lockdown to keep people' s spirits up. Still no wiser until he began to sing " What a voice !!!!!! " The place erupted with sing along from many that were obviously fans and a few people dancing. Country and western style but he has a unique style that appeals to all age groups ( heart and soul singer ) Add in the friendly patrons, brilliant bar staff and reasonably priced drinks then this pub hits all the right spots for a great night out. Car park opposite and wheelchair access is possible however no disabled toilets seen however check this out. Did not eat there but positive feedback from customers about quality, taste and presentation of food. Ring and book first just in case if you want a evening table ? Outdoor dining with really pretty enclosed gas flame heaters for large groups or intimate meals and smoking area. This is a must visit for a great relaxed...
Read moreTried to go in tonight with my 19year old son , my daughter and a couple of friends to be told we couldn't go in as my son was wearing tracksuit bottoms. We'd been at the fetherstone v Sheffield Eagles game so thought we'd call in as we had such an amazing time last year. My son has autism and is extremely sensitive and lives in tracksuit bottoms. Even when we go somewhere smart his bottoms have an elastic waist. The doorman was very abrasive so my son was almost in tears, he didn't understand and kept saying I've got id. I had to take him to 1 side and say sorry mate come on we'll go somewhere else. We went to elephant where they went above and beyond to make my son feel welcome and accepted. We spent rest of the night playing pool with Wakefield supporters. Next time we play either Wakefield or fetherstone we'll be going in the elephant. My son also plays learning disabilities rugby for Sheffield and plays festivals throughout the country some of which are in fetherstone and Wakefield and we'll be telling them the same that if they want a drink and to be accepted to go no where near the...
