I flew in this afternoon to stay before catching a flight tomorrow to DC. I am going for my husband’s burial in Arlington National Cemetery. The Holiday Inn ABQ was highly recommended by several friends who fly here to connect with other flights. The shuttle driver, The shuttle driver was exceptionally nice and helpful.
The experience went downhill from there. The front desk clerk, a young woman who could barely get off her cell phone, was not helpful. I checked in got my room keys and hauled my suitcase and carry on to the room, 217. I have a broken wrist, from 2 days ago, so had a hard time maneuvering my luggage and she offerEd no help. When I got to the room neither key worked and the carpet outside the door smelled awful like something had been spilled on it and had soured.
I hauled my luggage downstairs and requested keys that worked and a different room due to the carpet smell. She said, “No we can’t do that”? I
asked why not and she replied, “I was just kidding, calm down.”. She gave me keys to room 423. Keys worked, room is fine, bathroom needs a lot of work.
I went to the restaurant at 7:30PM. Ordered a steak salad. An hour later it had still not come. The people at the next table had just received their meals, a salad, chicken and a burger. They said they had waited 2 hours. The waitress apologized and comped their meals. There were only 4 tables filled in the empty dining room and tables in
Lounge were empty. I asked waitress why the long wait and she said the menu was new so the cook was trying to figure it out. I paid for my drink, left and ordered a pizza, which arrived in 30 min.
I asked the young lady at the desk if she would call the manager so I could speak to them. She told me
“We don’t have one. We are short staffed”. I asked for a corporate managers contact info. She had no idea how to provide that information so she gave me your card.
I had a broken wrist from the previous day. Could not use left hand. Young desk clerk was on her cellphone for at least a minute before she acknowledged me. I hade carry on backpack and suitcase. She offered no help or cart (non available to get to my room. Got to 2nd floor and room cards didn’t work. Carpet outside smelled like something had spilled and soured. I went back down asked for a different. Room and working cards. She responded “we can’t do that”. When I asked why she said “just kidding, calm down”. Went to restaurant and ordered a salad. After an hour cancelled order and called for delivery pizza. Only 4 tables full in dining room. Asked waitress why it was taking so long, she said it was because of the new menu, cook was trying to learn it. The table next to me said they had been waiting 2 hours for burgers, a salad and the chicken entree. Waitress apologized and said she would comp their meal. Next morning was As desk at 5:50 am. Told them I needed a shuttle to airport no later than 6:10 to make a 730 am flight. Desk clerk said shuttle driver was delivering check out bills but would be down soon. He arrived at 6:30 to take several of us to airport who all had flights between 7:15-7:45. We were getting ready to call an Uber when he showed up
I have a reservation for when I return from my trip next week, but decided to cancel and...
Read moreI was initially excited to be staying here. It is conveniently located right next to the airport. The outside appearance, lobby and restaurant look like this is a quality property. But that’s where it ends. Let’s start with the restaurant; the only morning we ordered breakfast it took 2 hours, the waitress kept coming out and asking what we ordered over and over, and finally when the food came out it was not correct. It took 2 HOURS for our food to come out, and there weren’t even that many people there. We were told that we could get ice on the top floor, but there was a sign that the ice machine was out of order. We were able to get ice on the third floor. Both elevators had strobing lights in them. One baggage cart had flat tires, and the other baggage cart had a cage that would come right off if you pushed it. They were out of coffee half the time downstairs. Now on to the room… The desk light didn’t work, it was really dim. The blackout curtain and sheer curtain were both missing the cable used to open and close them, and they could not be open and closed by hand. The sheer curtain also had a rip in it. The bathtub had a coating on it that was peeling away so I felt I could have cut my feet on it. The showerhead nozzle has so much hard water buildup on it that water barely came out, and I cleaned it myself in order to be able to use the shower. The towel holder was extremely wobbly and felt it could be pulled from the wall at any moment. The cold water handle for the bathroom sink was loose. The drain plug for the bathroom sink was missing. The mirror in the bathroom had many chips on the frame. The toilet handle had to be held for several seconds to flush and even then it wouldn’t flush all the way at times. There was no luggage stand. The AC smelled like dirty socks while it was running on fan mode. The 2 electrical outlets by the beds were really loose. The lids for the coffee cups were too small, and this was also the case for the common area coffee by the restaurant. The AC unit has a sign that states to use the wall thermostat to operate it, but there was no wall thermostat. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had at an...
Read moreI will not be back to this hotel. The management or ownership of this place is horrible. I had not even checked in and they withdrew the funds from a card on file, which caused me to go overdraft. I keep funds out of my checking account for a reason and had plans to use another card, which was expressed a few days before our trip to them as well as our late check-in. When I called to complain as I was not even in town yet. I was still about an hour or so out on our way into town. I was told that is just what the owner has them doing now. The couple in front of us when we checked in, however, did not have this problem. We listened as they asked what card they wanted to use for their reservation and they had not drafted from their card as we did. They decided to test my card without me even being there. I was beyond frustrated and the woman up front was no help. She was smug and didn't seem to care. The gentleman up front was nice and even apologized when we checked out two days later. I was told a manager would call me about this matter and I still haven't heard anything. I have been a rewards member for years and have stayed in some rough areas, but I have never had a hotel do something like this, and without letting me know first. I even checked their confirmation email and there was no notice of this. The hotel that we visited a day before, also did not do this. I have stayed in tons of holiday inns and have never been charged before checking in. To top matters off, the shower doors would not shut, all of the ice machines were out of order, one of the two elevators was out, they had one decaf coffee and one decaf tea in our room with no lids or anything else. The breakfast had expired jelly and fake eggs. Upon check-out and a few days later, I saw that the charges have been reversed, so I am just waiting for them to decide what they are doing. I usually do not write bad reviews, but this experience overall was horrible. I will not be back and I will make sure anyone I know who stays in Hillsboro will choose a...
