The rooms are cute, small but cute. The tiny fridge.so retro.and adorable and the owners were so sweet. So why did I give only a two star rating?! My entire jewelry case, a tiny black box that had all my mom jewelery im it as well as two pieces from my sister that passed from cancer 4 years ago, came up missing after the cleaning ladies finished. I'm not accusing because I didn't have eyes on them, but that's the time period it.came up missing. Nothing in the box has any resale value or pawning value, it's only value was in my heart. Although it was a nice lodge, I wouldn't take my chances staying here. I've cried my eyes out and my daughter has too, she says mom what kind of sicko takes things that aren't theirs?! If ANYONE finds it or finds it in their hearts to return it, I would be forever grateful. My heart is broken and my faith in humanity is all but gone now.

Edit::: I JUST received my jewelry in the mail. Turns out it was somehow left in a place a and my family looked. It was not stolen according to the hotel and was returned to my home by mail. I am forever grateful.

Yes I did post my review EVERYWHERE, isn't that what you do when you want result's??!! I reported my jewelry missing the day I got home, after unpacking my luggage and not finding it, but the owners say it was SO LONG AFTER the ALLEGED incident, that was me, not making assumptions that my box was missing until I unpacked, there was no way for me to do so as I drove home. I feel grateful that my stuff some how turned up a week later SO LONG after I reported it. Whatever the case maybe, my stuff was returned by the owners, at MY EXPENSE. If none of this had happened I'd given this place 4 stars, so I'll change my rating to reflect that, thanks to who ever stayed in the room after us and found it. 1 last thing, I'm not sure why you assumed I didn't report the alleged theft to...

The only thing good about this place was the friendly woman in the office!!! I went to have breakfast by the water across the way and when i got back there were house keepers inside my room !!! There was a sign to not disturb on my door.. They went in anyway i had heart medication my clothes everything i had there with me on my bed.. I went to speak to the old man who owns ot and was told its a new law they dont havr to respect my privacy in Michigan. My bed was placed up against a baseboard heater that could easy catch on fire. There is no door on the closet so you hear a loud banging noise for the heater all night.. There is only one lock on the door and its the one they have a key to. My little cousin and myself stayed here and we didnt feel safe at all... They also just throw the linens on the ground outside as they are cleaning... Would not recomend. And i wasnt going to even do this until i checked into the Holliday inn and asked about the law where they can enter the room anytime they want.... And was told its illegal to enter the room.. So they violated everything to me and these reveiws are false. Also they dont have a blanket other then the shared quilt...

We decided to stay here after reading the mostly good reviews. Well here's what happened. We stopped to pay and drop off our luggage because we had plans for the evening. We wanted to pay cash since we held the room with a card but was told that we couldn't do that. Not sure why? Next we went to our room by the over grown weeds in the planters outside our room. Went in the room and was overwhelmed by the strong scent of air freshener. Room was so old and out dated. It was moldy, floors were sticky, beds were creaky and uncomfortable. Bedskirt was stained with (possibly vomit)? Both of us saw live bugs on the floor, a beetle, spiders and something else. A large web. No dead bolts on doors. Shower stall was tiny. Dark musty towels thrown on the end of the bed for the bathroom. Nasty little sliver of soap to use. So disappointed in this place. Spend the extra money to go elsewhere. Even the office staff were very strange. Oh and at night expect the road in front of the lodge to have people drag racing, screeching tires ect.....

Knew I would be in Alpena for business. Looked around online at hotels in the area. Figured I would try a motel for a change. Couldn't beat the price, under $100! I stayed here in the end of September and the weather had already cooled off dramatically. I did have a little difficulty getting the heat to turn on, but one short walk to the front office and the owner went straight over and gave it a kick start. Room stayed warm all night. Temps dropped into the mid 30's. Room was what I was expecting from looking at the other pictures online. Small and cozy. Tv, mini fridge and microwave, and coffee maker. The only thing that I wish they had was an iron and ironing board. Friendly owners and good location.

A real dump!!!! I can not believe it was so highly rated. Bathroom was so dirty I would not shower in it or walk barefoot on the floors. The register for heat was falling apart and black tape was used to repair the toilet. Not sure how one reviewer could say the bathrooms were updated. Maybe in 1950. lol. I added photos to the review as proof. Would not have even spent the night but other hotels were full and our vehicle was too full to sleep in. Door to the room was flimsy and would be easy to break in. Loud and paper thin walls. Never again!!! Especially for $130 a night. The reviews have to be false. The owners must spend all of their spare time writing good reviews for their motel.

This is a family owned cute little lodge. Comfortable clean rooms, we had the family room with 2 queen beds, a kitchen in the middle with table, stove, micro, fridge, sink, dishes etc and 2 twin beds in a separated adjoining room. Also tub and shower, plenty of closet space as well...Wonderful location directly across from Lake Huron, 15 mins away from Rockport State Park. The owners are very wonderful and so sweet ❤
