I rented a jacuzzi suite for my husband and I. Our babysitter fell through so we ended up having to bring our boys with us to stay. The staff was VERY rude about that. I arrived at 10:30 pm, very tired, and was informed that there was a 200$ deposit for local guests. They didn’t tell me on the phone 3 days before when I made the reservation and i wasn’t able to access money from the ATM that late so they accepted the 100$ cash I had on me. The front desk attendant said they would make that exception because she felt bad no one had informed me and it was so late at night. The ladies at the front desk in the morning that did our checkout were very very rude to me about the 100$ cash. In the room we found a sock and a very dirty disposable mask under the bedsheets when we got in bed that night. The check out gal insisted it had to have been ours, which it wasn’t. I had read reviews on google the night before and was absolutely appalled at how people were responded to after leaving a negative review. I’ve never seen so much disrespect from a manager like that anywhere. Most of the negative reviews were in regards to the rude staff, and the responses were awful and I felt bad for the guests that left them and was afraid to leave a negative review myself in regards to my check in experience and the sock and mask. My experience with checkout however made it feel necessary to leave a review. At 10:34 the morning of checkout there was loud ponding on the door. Not knocking, pounding. The front desk lady was at our door and said “do you guys plan on leaving today??” My husband told her yes, we had just woke up as we didn’t get much sleep having to share the king bed with our kids unexpectedly. To which she replied “it’s time to go, it’s checkout time and I need your room.” I told her checkout was at 11 and she rolled her eyes and walked away from us. My boys had a mess from their snacks and toys and stuff from the night before so it was a little after noon when we finally checked out as I didn’t want to leave the room messy. It was absolutely our fault for waking up late but I don’t feel we should have been talked to like that. I wanted to leave the room a mess because of her attitude but I didn’t feel it was right because someone other than her would probably have to clean it and that wasn’t fair. When we finally made it downstairs to return our room keys and ask for our deposit back, the lady at the front desk sent her daughter and her coworker to inspect our room before she would give me my money back. Her daughter seemed to be only 11 or 12. While they were gone the lady made multiple comments about our late checkout time and the fact that we brought our kids with us but didn’t include them on the reservation form. I told her we didn’t expect to be bringing our kids, and a lady at the front desk did our reservation over the phone after I had accidentally booked the wrong room online. At that point her daughter and coworker came back and told her “the room is fine, I GUESS, but you can tell they had kids in there that’s for sure.” We left that room cleaner than it was when we got in it as we had brought down the extra sock and mask that they had left in the room for us to find when we got in bed. I felt so embarrassed that she spoke about me like that and even more embarrassed when her young daughter, still in her pajamas, standing behind the front desk with her mom, rolled her eyes at me too! How are you allowing people like this to run this hotel? I’ve ever felt more embarrassed, ashamed, or disrespected at any other hotel or public place I’ve visited. We will NOT be back and we definitely won’t be recommending our friends or family to stay at the Super 8 by Wyndham in...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. Glenda - the manager, is by far one of the rudest, saddest people I think I’ve ever spoken to. We booked through Priceline (which I also don’t recommend, third parties are difficult) and the GPS took us to the Super 8 closer to Des Moines and Clive. (If you’re staying at a super 8, stay at that one. Will at the front desk was amazing and beyond helpful). When we got to the Clive location, Will informed us we were at the wrong one and the other one was about 30 minutes further. We were driving from Colorado for the past 14 hours and we’re exhausted and didn’t want to have to drive more. We called Priceline and they said they could cancel it no problem, just had to have this Super 8 (wonderful Glenda) approve the cancelation. Will booked us the room and we stayed in Clive. In the morning I called this Super 8 to which Glenda picked up being extremely rude before I even said anything. She was unbelievably snippy, and clearly a sad human being. She refused any cancelations, even though the night before they said it would be fine. If it wouldn’t have, we would have just made the haul there. Glenda said “call this phone all you want, I’m not doing anything” with a smirk, almost in the tone of a 5 year old brat who doesn’t get their way and has a tantrum. She then hung up. So Glenda, if you’re reading this, I hope whatever bad thing that happened to you in life gets better, and you learn to treat people correctly. Because you’re are clearly mentally damaged from something in life. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Super 8 by Wyndham Clive/Des Moines and not this place. Will at the front will treat you great and you won’t have to have the devastating, disappointing, horrific, ugly, pathetic, dreadful, loathsome, and pitiful experience of meeting Glenda. Glenda, good day to you. I...
Read moreBest to avoid this place. I don’t leave reviews, it was so spectacularly bad I felt compelled. I spoke with someone on the phone to confirm the reservation. Spelled the last name twice and informed them exactly the time I would arrive since I would be coming in late. I arrived at exactly the time I informed them of. Once I get here, no such reservation can be found. The employee I spoke with on the phone twice had never actually reserved anything. The employee at the desk when I showed up was trying to be helpful and kind which I appreciate, but it took nearly 20 minutes to figure out, at which point they gave me a price $40 more expensive than what I had reserved online and over the phone. It was only after I said something they gave me the price I booked at, again, which I do appreciate. But then I was given a key card to a room that had someone else in it. This hotel doesn’t even know which rooms have occupants. I was then given a worse room type that absolutely stunk of smoke and BO. It was musty like it hadn’t been touched in years. The air filter reflected that as I could see the black dust coming out of the AC unit. The toilet is somehow loud and never stops running which is confusing and the shower has zero water pressure. “Breakfast” is also a joke. It’s a cheap hotel, I’m not expecting much, but 2 little Debbie muffins is not breakfast. To say it was unpleasant it putting it lightly.
TLDR: you aren’t guaranteed a room at the price you book, the rooms SERIOUSLY stink, the hallways are gross and also stink, the air filters are gross, the shower pressure sucks, and the breakfast is almost non existent. I wish I hadn’t been so cheap and just paid an extra $20-30 for a holiday inn express or one of the many other...
