*Read to completion- Disgrace to a Veteran.
Dining experience started out well with Greeting staff @ the door. We wanted to order Prime Rib; so asked if they still had plenty upon arriving. They said, Yes we have plenty.
Our waiter - Josh greeted us very nicely & was very humbling.
Then our drink order took longer than expected around 15 minutes or so. Also we asked for more rolls- which took even longer than our drinks even though we asked for them before the drinks.
Then the four of us made our orders for dinner. 2 - 12 oz Prime Rib dinners, a Cheese burger meal, & a 16 oz Sirloin Meal.
Josh came out & stated they were out of Prime Rib period except for 2 - 8 oz portions. He stated we could have the 2- 8oz Prime Rib Meals for free. Then said, If we chose so, we could order something else in addition to - So I asked if me & my friend could split a rib eye; he said he had to get approval from mngr. I said ok. Then he came back & said they were giving us the last 16 oz Prime Rib divided along with the Split Ribeye. I said ok, sounds great. It was confusing the way he said it; my friend said - Josh said, We are now being charged for the Prime Rib & the Ribeye. So I asked Josh if that was the case; he said yes. I said, well just stick the two free 8 oz Prime Ribs we were offered originally. Well the food showed up; Prime Rib & the Ribeye. I just assumed that they were taking care of us. Because nothing was clarified. The manager came out & said we were being charged for a Prime Rib 16 oz portion and the Ribeye as well. I told here that’s not what was stated by our waiter ;she said I am sorry that’s what it’s gonna be. I said, do what you gotta do.
Upon paying for bill I stated I was a Veteran, & Josh said, he needed an ID or something for proof of Service. I said ok; and showed him a Copy of my DD-214 (Standard proof of military service & years of honorable service) . Josh smirked & laughed, said that’s not good enough! Another waitress that’s friends with my daughter came over, I told her can you vouch that I am a Veteran to Josh. She said, Of course absolutely. Overall our service was disappointing & not done in a timely manner with lots of confusion & in my opinion- miscommunication from Josh to the manager. I don’t ever plan on returning to this Texas Roadhouse in Altoona, Iowa….
Happy holidays! Thanks to all fellow veterans, police officers & firefighters who put their life on the line for the greater...
Read moreI’m usually not someone to put up a bad review unless my experience is really bad. Well unfortunately this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. My Husband and I decided to go to lunch for his birthday, got a sitter for our kids and we were pretty excited cuz we really never get to go out much. We get there and we’re already on the waitlist waited for about 20ish minutes on top of that. Then we get seated and right away I ask our waiter if we are able to order our appetizer and food right away cuz we have a movie to get to in a little over an hour. The server said yes no problem so we both told him our orders and he left. He came back to the table a few times to refill our drinks but never said anything about our food. The restaurant seemed kind of busy so I just assumed our food was taking a little longer. I was very patient and then about 45 minutes later our waiter comes over and says I forgot to put in your order I can do it now. So we said um ok can we get boxes and the check too please cuz we will need to leave almost right after getting our food. He said yes and left, about 5 minutes later a manager walked by and I told her about what had happened and that we would like to cancel our appetizer since we really have no time to eat it anyway. She said ok give me a minute. Then about 5 minutes later another manager comes to our table and says I heard that you didn’t want to dine with us anymore and handed us a coupon for money off our next order. I said no all I said was I wanted to cancel our appetizer and keep our meals since the order has already been put in. She then said I was just back in the kitchen and he hasn’t put your order in yet but I can do it now it will be about 20 minutes. At that point we decided to get up and leave cuz we were there for over an hour and a half and needed to be somewhere. I can’t believe how bad that situation was handled and I really don’t think the coupon they gave me makes up for all of that. I usually like Texas Roadhouse, but idk if I’ll be going again for awhile, super...
Read moreIt was Mother's Day, so consider that in the mix. We had 630pm reservations and they got us seated within a few minutes. There were 7 of us. It was PACKED. The busiest I have ever seen it. Our little gal was amazing. She was bubbly, efficient, accurate, attentive. She checked on us just often enough. I asked for some extra bbq sauce. Usually that request gets lost in the shuffle and about 20 minutes later it shows up. She was back in less than 5. She kept the water filled, fresh bread and butter coming, she never seemed rushed or stressed. And I know she had to be. I wish I had caught her name. I always make sure it's on the bill, but my son in law grabbed the bill over my protest and I didn't think then to catch her name. Between being seated, ordering, receiving salads and then receiving our food, it seemed no more than 20-25 minutes. Perfect to browse the menu then finish our salads. The food, for the most part, was very good. The steaks were the perfect color and temp. The sides tasted fresh. My son in law and I ordered ribs. They were a little dry. Definitely not fall off the bone tender, but once we got past the dry outer part, the inner meat against the bone was more tender and while I can't say juicy, it was much more palatable. We considered how busy it was, how late it was and really, the meat wasn't bad at all taking all that into consideration. The atmosphere was fast paced, lively, upbeat. But my major complaint was my goodness the music was loud. We were shouting at each other across the table. Not just that I'm an old lady, but you seriously couldn't talk. We would wait until the song was winding down and then in the 5 second silence, we would all try to quickly get said what we had been holding onto. And then they turned it up louder! It didn't ruin the meal, the company and food were still great. But those poor servers and bar staff. I would have had a rough time hearing the customers. Good job, TR. You actually handled a crazy day...
