Very disappointed in our experience here. We love texas road house but the whole experience was a miss from start to finish at this one. We waited 2hours and 17min for a table party of 4 then we finally get seated the music is so loud we couldn't hear eachother talk sitting right next to eachother. The waitress shows up after 15 min to get drinks we decided to order at the same time. I always get the prime rib so I tell her the size and the others order what they want another 15min goes by she brings drinks then 20 min goes by and salads come needed refills she didn't come by until food came 30 more min go by food comes after 65 min total and I noticed right away it was the wrong cut of meat. So I asked her about it she got an attitude and said you ordered ribeye I said no prime rib she shrugs goes to kitchen just to come back and say they are out of prime rib and have been for 2 hours but the table next to us had ordered right before us and gotten prime rib so that was a lie. Anyone who knows steaks can look at the picture and see its wrong. It was a Sirloin She disappeared and my steak was cold so when the manager came to talk to us she tood me the same thing about the prime rib and I explained what happened she said she would have a new steak made so we wait another 20 min by then everyone is done eating. So I ate a little of steak but by then we were all tired and ready to go. They gave us a discount but it didn't cover the price of a steak I didn't even eat. The waitress mean while is mean mugging me and pointing me out to other wait staff while my kids keep pointing it out. Very unprofessional considering I wasn't rude and it wasn't my fault. She never did get us refills and I had to ask other staff instead. Definitely will not be back to this location in the future.

The cell phone check-in was great. Host station staff and waitress were great. Food was not. I ordered the porterhouse med rare. My wife ordered it rare. When I cut into mine, it was well done. I showed the waitress who agreed it was not made to order. She asked my wife how hers was. My wife cut into hers, and it was also well done. There was not a sign of pink on either steak. We have never sent a steak back anywhere, but both sent the plates back to the kitchen. The waitress came back and said that new steaks were being prepared “under manager supervision.” When they came out, I cut into my second steak. I commented to the lady that brought it out that it was still pretty well done, but it looked and tasted better than the first. The lady said, “Well, they’re just so thin.” All I could think was that their menu brags that the steaks are hand cut daily, so maybe the people cutting them need wider rulers. If they’re so thin you can’t control the doneness, then maybe they’re too thin. I did finally find some pink…right up next to the bone. My wife’s second steak definitely wasn’t overcooked. In fact, it seems that they really, really wanted to make sure it came out rare. However, it was basically raw. Cold to the touch, slimy and completely red. She got a box to take it home without eating it. So, I guess when they ask you how you want your steak at Texas Roadhouse, your two choices are raw or well done. I’d also not recommend the smothered mushrooms and onions, unless you like things extremely salty. Overall, I’m very disappointed with my experience, and have no desire to go back to this restaurant ever again. The hostesses and waitress each get a gold star; no stars for the food nor kitchen. Photos of my wife’s second steak.

We visited twice since they opened. First visit the music in the entry and on deck areas was so loud you could not hear anything anyone was saying to you. Second visit, the music was slightly less loud but still too loud for server to hear what your order was to be able to get your order correct. First visit service was tremendous wait was about 45 minutes. Food was timely, and good flow. I had ordered a ribeye, greasier steak then I was used to but still good flavor. Price is very very reasonable. Blooming onion was nice. Dessert was just ok. Bar service First week was floundering. Second visit I ordered filet rib combo. Filet was exceptional not greasy. Rib combo did not arrive as server could not hear. Second visit was a table of 4 and everyone was missing items from their order. Again this goes back to server not being tuned in and just not feeling her job and not being able to hear. She had a table across from us she was fighting with and by the time it was our turn to order etc she was deflated and definitely did not care. If you want steak but do not want to pay full prices, this is a good adequate place for steak. Drink menu, not much alcohol in their cocktails. Order beer or wine so you know you are getting some alcohol otherwise save your money and drink at home. Don't bother with desserts here just enjoy your steak. Sides are fine. Appetizers are fine. Drink at home. Definitely do not go here when you have no patience. It is not a calm relaxing atmosphere. Loud chaos with decent enough steaks.

*Read to completion- Disgrace to a Veteran.

Dining experience started out well with Greeting staff @ the door. We wanted to order Prime Rib; so asked if they still had plenty upon arriving. They said, Yes we have plenty.

Our waiter - Josh greeted us very nicely & was very humbling.

Then our drink order took longer than expected around 15 minutes or so. Also we asked for more rolls- which took even longer than our drinks even though we asked for them before the drinks.

Then the four of us made our orders for dinner. 2 - 12 oz Prime Rib dinners, a Cheese burger meal, & a 16 oz Sirloin Meal.

Josh came out & stated they were out of Prime Rib period except for 2 - 8 oz portions. He stated we could have the 2- 8oz Prime Rib Meals for free. Then said, If we chose so, we could order something else in addition to - So I asked if me & my friend could split a rib eye; he said he had to get approval from mngr. I said ok. Then he came back & said they were giving us the last 16 oz Prime Rib divided along with the Split Ribeye. I said ok, sounds great. It was confusing the way he said it; my friend said - Josh said, We are now being charged for the Prime Rib & the Ribeye. So I asked Josh if that was the case; he said yes. I said, well just stick the two free 8 oz Prime Ribs we were offered originally. Well the food showed up; Prime Rib & the Ribeye. I just assumed that they were taking care of us. Because nothing was clarified. The manager came out & said we were being charged for a Prime Rib 16 oz portion and the Ribeye as well. I told here that’s not what was stated by our waiter ;she said I am sorry that’s what it’s gonna be. I said, do what you gotta do.

Upon paying for bill I stated I was a Veteran, & Josh said, he needed an ID or something for proof of Service. I said ok; and showed him a Copy of my DD-214 (Standard proof of military service & years of honorable service) . Josh smirked & laughed, said that’s not good enough! Another waitress that’s friends with my daughter came over, I told her can you vouch that I am a Veteran to Josh. She said, Of course absolutely. Overall our service was disappointing & not done in a timely manner with lots of confusion & in my opinion- miscommunication from Josh to the manager. I don’t ever plan on returning to this Texas Roadhouse in Altoona, Iowa….

Happy holidays! Thanks to all fellow veterans, police officers & firefighters who put their life on the line for the greater...

I’m usually not someone to put up a bad review unless my experience is really bad. Well unfortunately this is one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. My Husband and I decided to go to lunch for his birthday, got a sitter for our kids and we were pretty excited cuz we really never get to go out much. We get there and we’re already on the waitlist waited for about 20ish minutes on top of that. Then we get seated and right away I ask our waiter if we are able to order our appetizer and food right away cuz we have a movie to get to in a little over an hour. The server said yes no problem so we both told him our orders and he left. He came back to the table a few times to refill our drinks but never said anything about our food. The restaurant seemed kind of busy so I just assumed our food was taking a little longer. I was very patient and then about 45 minutes later our waiter comes over and says I forgot to put in your order I can do it now. So we said um ok can we get boxes and the check too please cuz we will need to leave almost right after getting our food. He said yes and left, about 5 minutes later a manager walked by and I told her about what had happened and that we would like to cancel our appetizer since we really have no time to eat it anyway. She said ok give me a minute. Then about 5 minutes later another manager comes to our table and says I heard that you didn’t want to dine with us anymore and handed us a coupon for money off our next order. I said no all I said was I wanted to cancel our appetizer and keep our meals since the order has already been put in. She then said I was just back in the kitchen and he hasn’t put your order in yet but I can do it now it will be about 20 minutes. At that point we decided to get up and leave cuz we were there for over an hour and a half and needed to be somewhere. I can’t believe how bad that situation was handled and I really don’t think the coupon they gave me makes up for all of that. I usually like Texas Roadhouse, but idk if I’ll be going again for awhile, super...

It was Mother's Day, so consider that in the mix. We had 630pm reservations and they got us seated within a few minutes. There were 7 of us. It was PACKED. The busiest I have ever seen it. Our little gal was amazing. She was bubbly, efficient, accurate, attentive. She checked on us just often enough. I asked for some extra bbq sauce. Usually that request gets lost in the shuffle and about 20 minutes later it shows up. She was back in less than 5. She kept the water filled, fresh bread and butter coming, she never seemed rushed or stressed. And I know she had to be. I wish I had caught her name. I always make sure it's on the bill, but my son in law grabbed the bill over my protest and I didn't think then to catch her name. Between being seated, ordering, receiving salads and then receiving our food, it seemed no more than 20-25 minutes. Perfect to browse the menu then finish our salads. The food, for the most part, was very good. The steaks were the perfect color and temp. The sides tasted fresh. My son in law and I ordered ribs. They were a little dry. Definitely not fall off the bone tender, but once we got past the dry outer part, the inner meat against the bone was more tender and while I can't say juicy, it was much more palatable. We considered how busy it was, how late it was and really, the meat wasn't bad at all taking all that into consideration. The atmosphere was fast paced, lively, upbeat. But my major complaint was my goodness the music was loud. We were shouting at each other across the table. Not just that I'm an old lady, but you seriously couldn't talk. We would wait until the song was winding down and then in the 5 second silence, we would all try to quickly get said what we had been holding onto. And then they turned it up louder! It didn't ruin the meal, the company and food were still great. But those poor servers and bar staff. I would have had a rough time hearing the customers. Good job, TR. You actually handled a crazy day...
