This is our second Drury Inn & Suites in less than a week. We loved the one at Albuquerque NM why not try it for our next stop in Amarillo, Tx. Of course I read the reviews and they were pretty convincing that we were going to have a great stay. All started by front desk greeting us. The young lady (she wrote her name in a cards with the room keys and all instructions included, my forgetfulness is horrendous when I really need to remember something and give some credit) she happily and kindly provided clear instructions about breakfast, dinner, pool use, pet policy, laundry area. This time I decided to rent a suite. It was sweetly awesome. Huge room, with a bed sofa included , TV, microwave, small refrigerator, king bed. Very comfortable with fresh linens. My two shih tzu were able to play. Well, we decided to extend another day. Pool was used by us, specially the hot tub with the Spa button. It was a great Spa, it seems it had some bubblish/salty stuff that made you feel relax. Little trick, use the pool between 11am-3pm, when all people have left and the new ones haven't arrived yet. You'll have the space for you in total silence. Towels are provided. I used the laundry. A washer wasn't working but I was able to use the other. Breakfast/dinner room was spacious. Breakfast was tasty. Had cold and warm options. Dinner was tasty as well. That particular day they had soup, pasta alfredo, chicken, baked potato, salad, fresh vegetables. Also you have the opportunity of having three free alcohol beverages (they have a small menu of which one) while they mark it through a small card given during check in. Coffee is available all the time. They also have popcorn in the afternoon and it is self service. Everyone that grabs a bag you can see their inner child reflecting through their expressions. They have a small mini market with beverages, frozen food, ice cream, chips, sweets, over the counter basic meds, etc. A life saver. They do not have designated pet relief area but have the bags available. They have plenty of green area that already seems pet relief area and they were clean so people are picking up their pet's presents. This Drury is immediate to the highway, have plenty of places to eat and it is located in a safe spot. The hotel has it's Amarillo theme through wall decorations which makes it unique. I highly recommend this place. If you want to save a headache researching hotels, this one you can make the reservation with eyes closed. Go for it. No one is paying me for making a...

Stayed at this location 4/27 and 4/28. The first night we stayed everything seemed fine. We woke up the next day and went to Palo Duro and a couple hours into my day I was becoming itchy and noticing bites appearing, on my face, my arms, my hands. By the end of the day I swelled up like a balloon. At this point I couldn't sleep. I was up until 3am, got up to go to the bathroom, came back and saw bed bugs crawling over the bed where I was laying, FULL OF MY BLOOD. I immediately murdered the bugs and ran to the front desk, who were WAY TOO CHILL ABOUT THE SITUATION. They ended up refunding us for the nights and gave us another room to sleep on the fifth floor for a few hours. We spent 3am-7am sorting, bagging, washing, showering, all of this before even being able to switch rooms, which we did in our towels and brought nothing else to the room to not risk the spread. Before we switched rooms, I walked into the bedroom and SAW ANOTHER ONE CRAWLING UP THE BACK BOARD. In our new room, we woke up every 30 minutes too worried to sleep. I had even MORE bites from the ones I killed in the other room, and I'm so allergic. We ended up throwing out half of our belongings including our suitcases because we couldn't wash them. Our trip was completely ruined and we had nowhere to stay since we couldn't risk bringing them anywhere else and were even more worried about other possible way-too-relaxed hotels with bedbugs. We showered at truck stops and slept in our car. This was awful and terrible, literal hell. We were thousands of miles from home, bit up, swollen, sobbing, losing our belongings, sleep deprived, and absolutely broken. And they acted like it was just another day to them and not a big deal. We thought this was going to be a great place to stay because of the reviews, but we went through an actual nightmare there and all they did was refund our stay and hand us some garbage bags. DON'T TRUST HOTELS JUST BECAUSE OF THE REVIEWS. CHECK THE BED. IF IT LOOKS LIKE SHARPIE MARKER ON VARIOUS LINENS AND THE MATTRESS, THATS BED BUGS. Wish we knew that when we checked and said "oh that's just marker".. honestly I've never had a worse stay and I'll never be back to a Drury. We're out hundreds and hundreds of dollars on all the precautions we had to take to not bring them home on our flight, and all the money we have to spend to buy new items. I'm just sickened. Don't make the same mistake. Don't...
Read moreWe travel 4-5 months each summer and always look for a Drury Inn & Suites. "Usually" they are 5-star hotels. This one had a couple of issues that leads me to giving it 4 stars. The room is very nicely laid out with very adequate pieces of furniture. However, the bathroom sink drained VERY SLOWLY. I think it's either because the P-trap needs to be cleaned out OR a studor valve needs to be installed to allow air which is needed for a drain to drain properly. The HVAC worked just fine but when the air handler kicked on it sounded like a high-grade commercial washing machine on its spin cycle. Very loud. The internet wasn't as fast as other Drury Inn & Suites we have been at. It also was very slow. We were also disappointed in the cost of the laundry room facilities. $3.00 per load both for washers and dryers? Thats over a dollar more than other Drury Hotels we have stayed at. Since we are on the move every couple of days, we decided to wait until we get to our next hotel to do laundry.
Breakfast AND dinner were great. So far, we have never had any complaints about the food or the staff in the dining room. The buffet is well supplied, and the staff is working very hard to keep things full all the time being courteous and friendly - in spite of some people who just seem to complain no matter what. The staff is doing the absolute best that they can to keep up with the amount of people in the dining room and the amount of food they are piling on their plate. We have discovered another hotel that is going to be a big competitor for the Drury Inn & Suites and that's the Staybridge Hotels. Their suites match the Drury. Their breakfast matches the Drury. Presently they only have a dinner Mon, Tues and Wed evenings - would be nice to see them go all 7 days. Now this is where they surpass the Drury. FREE washer and dryers and they have plenty. FREE. The laundry room is clean and so are the machines. This is to the couple with the CAT SCALES embroidered shirts that also had a room on the 4th floor. STOP slinging your door open and letting it SLAM SHUT. Every time you went in and out of your room (and it was a lot) BOOM. It shook the walls and echoed down the hallway. Early morning when you went to and from breakfast - BOOM. Every evening (several times) BOOM. Look up hotel etiquette and act accordingly. When you enter the sleeping area, be quiet and respect all your...
