I prefer to shop brick and mortar, but the service I received at Best Buy today makes me think a faceless online giant is better than the service this store provides. Bought an open box TV, only to discover that parts to the base were missing. Thought I might go to the store to see if they had the parts lying around, or could order the base for me. Really wanted the TV, it was their last one (the only reason I got an open box). When I got there, CSR said she would need to talk to a manager, who was standing a few feet away. I started to walk with her and she put up her hand as if to let me know that I wasn't permitted to talk to the manager. I went over anyway, and explained the situation. I was shocked to hear him say that "When you purchase an open box, you have to expect some items to be missing"....really? I asked if he could maybe have them poke around to see if the brackets were in the TV area, and he flatly said NO. Asked if he could simply order a new base for the TV, again NO. No "sorry for the inconvenience", or "I bet you didn't plan on spending the entire day on a TV purchase, our bad....", just a smug, snotty attitude - This guy simply could not hide the disdain he had for me and the situation. And this guy is a manager??? A good manager would show his employees how to say no in a way that makes the customer feel good - it's something we all have to learn when dealing with the public. Went back home, boxed it up, and returned. (Took me 2 minutes to find the parts he said couldn't be provided from the manufacturer's website, btw).....To top it all off, saw the exact same TV on faceless online retailer, not open box, for $100 less than what I paid. I could have completed the purchase in 30 seconds. If Best Buy does not want to be relegated to the dust bin of history, like other brick and mortar retailers, they need to get a grip on why people choose to shop local and not online! (Post Script - You should promote the gentleman who was watching the door - Super friendly and what you should be looking for in an employee. Engaged with me, showed empathy, even if I was the thousandth customer he had seen today! UPDATE - Generic canned response from Best Buy confirms why their customer service is terrible in the store....even their customer service "pros" do not seem to grasp that the missing parts were not really...

Everything is ready and rung up including like a four year plan with geek squad, but I was taking an exceptionally long time because I have several disabilities. The cashier and the manager became exceptionally rude and hateful telling me that if I didn't have the money or I didn't hurry up then I needed to leave the store immediately. I tried to explain that my phone had popped up an offer (which it does whenever I'm in any store), that if I went ahead and put it on a Best buy credit card that I would get 0% financing for 18 months and a 10% discount on my purchase💥Whoot Whoot‼️ I thought YEA! Let's do that! I was going to apply right there at the cash register but I forgot my driver's license so they wouldn't allow me to apply for credit at the register. I decided to just apply for credit on my phone, it wouldn't take a second, however Best Buy's building is made an entirely of metal with a brick exterior...and there was a situation with the slowness of the connection because of the building, and a disability. Te manager became even more rude continually coming over to the cash register over and over and over telling me that if I didn't speed it up that he was going to have me removed from the store by the police and have me trespassed. Keep in mind that I was making a $2,000+ purchase! He Ben said if you can't prove you have the money for this purchase then you need to get out. So I open my billfold showed him the several hundred dollar bills and said is this enough? And he said well I don't know I don't know what you're buying?!?! So I told him everything I was buying I stopped filling out my credit application I put my money back in my billfold and I said well it doesn't really matter now because I'm taking my business and my money somewhere else and they can get the sale and I'll be contacting not only corporate but I'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau the Federal Trade Commission and Apple, which I have done! Oh and I've also reported them for violating the Americans with Dsabilities Act! Enjoy your Shopping experience‼️‼️ IF you have any kind of a DISABILITY that SLOWS you down even just a little TINY bit, please take your business...
Read moreBest Buy as a whole went from "expensive" to "outrageous". I don't know what their deal is..maybe trying to compensate for lost sales? Whatever it is, I won't be shopping here any longer. I used to stop by every now and then for my electronic needs but they no longer have what I want.
Not sure if all stores are the same but this particular store began charging extra for car audio installation and then did away with it altogether. In all honesty, that was the main reason I even went to Best Buy. I mean lets face it, their DVD selection is overpriced by about $5 on every movie. The tablets are $50-$100 more than Walmart for the exact same products. Cameras are overpriced by $100-500 for the better models..etc, etc. I only know this because I have shopped around and purchased stuff elsewhere. I understand that they have more overhead than an online business but good lord! Don't try to pay the electric bill with the profit from one TV!
My breaking point - and the reason I will never step foot in this store again - is the service. There are times I am willing to pay more when there is good service involved. For instance, my boss sent me to buy a new computer for the office about six months ago. I had a company credit card in hand and was told to spend any amount necessary to get what we needed. My first stop was this Best Buy and I figured someone would be eager to make a sale. Boy was I wrong. I walked around the computers for thirty minutes looking and looking. Everyone was either busy gossiping or helping other customers. Nobody even batted an eyelash at me. So I took my business elsewhere. Having worked in the retail industry for many years I'm not one to ask for help. I know what the rules are with any company.
I'm not going to tell ya'll not to shop here. Maybe you'll have better experiences than I have. Just don't say I didn't tell you so when your wallet feels a little light on your way...
