I don’t know where to begin but I will say that the reason why we stayed here was because they have EV charging and they have 3 Tesla ports and one additional EV charging port for other vehicles. When we arrived they did not have any rooms available even though we had booked a room for the night. I had requested that we be near an elevator due to us having a baby with us. The woman at the counter was lacking customer service skills and didn’t even acknowledge me as I walked in the door. A couple minutes later as I’m standing there, I’m assuming her manager came up to me and said “what can I help you with?”...What do you think I am here for? to beg for money? I don’t understand why the customer service was lacking when this is such a huge corporation but then again I can understand why people don’t like their jobs here. We eventually got our room after browsing the mall, which was about a mile away. Come to find out they did put us next to an elevator but one that was not working and it said it was “temporarily out of service”. So our room was on the complete other side of where the elevator was. When we arrived to the room the lights were discolored And not welcoming. They looked like daylight versus the typical soft light that is usually in hotels. The furniture was horrendous! I will hopefully be able to take pictures and post them on here but the couch has tears in it and the chair for the desk is completely dirty like no one has cleaned it in years. They say they renovated the hotel in 2011 but it doesn’t look that way. the TV probably only had three channels that were available and most of it was infomercials. We had a king size bed and the feathers from the pillows kept coming out and honestly the blanket feels like a comforter that you use for camping almost like a sleeping bag texture. I think the only positive thing I can say about this was I was able to have an interaction with the attendant at the breakfast area this morning and he was really nice but that’s all I can really say. I highly suggest taking the money and spending it elsewhere. The last visit we were in Michigan, we stayed at the Kensington Hotel which is right across the street, cheaper, better customer service and a lot more amenities. The only reason why I chose this hotel was for the EV ports and what’s funny is that they have a sign stating “Only electric vehicles that are charging” yet you see combustion engine cars in the spots and they’re not being charged because they’re not electric cars… luckily they had one available Tesla charger or else I probably would have lost it. They definitely need to fix something about their customer service and their hotel amenities. Also when you think about hotels you think about the bathroom and the only thing I can say about the bathroom is my husband found three tissues that were used as we came into the room and the pressure of the water is extremely lacking. Definitely not worth the extra $50 I spent thinking it was going to be a better hotel than the Kensington, but we wanted to charge our Tesla. If I knew it was going to be this bad, I would have skipped the EV charging station and opted for going to a SuperCharging station and spending $5 to charge my vehicle and still save money by going to a different hotel with...
Read moreFirst, when we were checking in, there was no one to help us with all our luggage (we were moving our daughter into college). We had to load everything on a cart to bring to our room ourselves. Second, we were out all of the next day but our room was not cleaned when we returned at 10:00 pm (I said hello to the housekeeper who was cleaning a room across the hall and she saw me put the privacy sign inside the room). We were going to just ask for towels and call it a night but when I opened the refrigerator to put our water in, I found molding food that was smelling up the refrigerator. We reported it to the front desk right away (he was inundated with people checking in or with questions but said he would call someone to clean it right away) we waited until 11:00 pm to ask again if our room was cleaned and the smell gone. We were told that housekeeping was gone for the night and that whoever on staff at the time, front desk worker or restaurant server, was going to have to clean the room so it'll take a longer time since that was not their normal duties. I told them to just give us fresh towels, straighten up the beds and get the smell out and be done with it. We finally got back into our room at midnight. The refrigerator still smelled but we didn't want to wait for sleep any longer. The next day, we left at 7:30 am (I made sure the privacy sign was taken inside) and returned at 1:30 pm for a much needed nap. We found the room as we left it - not cleaned! I asked the housekeeper who was vacuuming the hallway whether there was a special procedure to having a guest room cleaned since this was the second time our room didn't get cleaned in as many days. She said they would take care of it. We had to put our nap on hold while we waited. A little over an hour later, they came to clean our room so we had to leave to the lobby (we were waaaaay tired by then). We waited about 40 mins. before going back to the room for the nap. Granted that they comped our food that first night while we waited until midnight and the staff on hand were nice, it really lowered our rating when this happened twice in as many days. Very...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay! We are probably the only Michigan fans in Ohio so we came in from Toledo to watch Michigan play (and win!) in the Big 10 Championship. We wanted to be around people who would actually cheer when Michigan scored LOL. The person who checked me in was so nice and even asked how our drive up was (I'm sorry I don't remember her name) but that was really nice of her to ask. I also appreciated the fact that she still continued to help me even though another person came up and rudely interrupted us by asking if she had change for a ten. She remained professional; even though I wanted to say something to that person, but honestly her attitude about it calmed me down because she didn't take time from me to respond to that person. Our room was noticeably clean. I always bring cleaner with us when we stay in a hotel, but I didn't need to use it. The only 3 complaints I have is that I downloaded the app on my phone so that we wouldn't have to check in at the desk, we could just go to our room. The check in person told me the mobile key doesn't work for that location. Also, there was only one set of towels in our room: one face cloth, one hand towel, and one bath towel. And lastly, there was a sticker for ice delivery to our room, but when we called down requesting ice we were told that they don't deliver after a certain time. Other than that it was a great time, and wasn't a deal breaker. I also received an email from the assistant district manager Keith thanking us for staying at the Sheraton, and wished us safe travels back home. Because of that email, I canceled a multiple night reservation I made for New Years Eve with another hotel and reserved those same nights at the Sheraton :-) I would rather spend money with a brand that actually cares about the customer while we are there and when we leave. We can't wait to come back! Hopefully we can get a bigger room since we will be there so long. :) Thanks for a...
