Very nice hotel- the lobby is beautiful, the room was fairly nice, decent food selection at the breakfast buffet…BUT…
Our stay was severely hampered by the city water going out and a simultaneous issue with the water pump. We specifically booked the hotel to allow our 5 year-old to swim in the pool during downtime. Our poolside room went from being a perk to a constant annoyance and source of anger as the closed pool became the focus point of the visit.
Additionally, the $18 per person breakfast bar didn’t have coffee as a result of the water issue. The hotel can’t help if the city water goes out but that price is outrageous for a breakfast buffet without a basic breakfast beverage that is commonplace.
The biggest problem was that the clerks didn’t care. I wasn’t looking for a freebie or a fawning, gushing outflowing of emotions but some kind of understanding would have been nice. The night clerk, when told about our disappointment with the pool and that I specifically booked this hotel for the use of the pool, just stared at me for several seconds and didn’t offer an explanation or apology. The next morning, the morning clerk didn’t even know the pool was closed as she had been on vacation and apparently come back that day. She too seemed to not even care or mind that this is a huge problem when it’s a core amenity for this hotel.
In order to seek assistance, I reached out to the email address for the hotel itself. I was hoping a manager or hotel administrator would write back. It’s been a couple weeks without response so no longer holding my breath.
Overall, severely disappointed in what should have been a great visit. I’ll take my business elsewhere next time I’m in Asheville as management and staff here showed no concern for our family’s well being on this trip. Wish it...
Read moreGreat location and price, no bedbugs, but had some questionable stuff leaving me feeling mixed overall.
The bad: Room did not lock and no key was needed for access. Mgmt fixed within an hour once i notified them, though it took me 24 hours to notice and our stuff was open for anyone until then. our standard room did not have a microwave despite this being what was advertised for the room. Mgmt moved me to a new room a few blood stains that weren't ours were on sheets and pillow cases. I didn't bring this up with mgmt and just used the other bed. outdoor pool was confirmed functional and open prior to reservation. It was closed when we arrived that week. When asked i was told it would be open within a day. A week later, our entire stay, it was still closed. The outdoor pool was the sole reason why we booked this hotel. Felt like false advertisement. the fabric chair had what looked like a piss stain under the cushion. I wasn't confident that housecleaning does proper fabric cleaning on the cushion so we avoided using that piece of furniture. Did not bring up with mgmt. someone double parked every night we were there, which was nearly a problem when we only had 3 spots to choose from out of the whole parking lot on a Friday night after a late dinner.
The good: for the price, these were great accommodations even considering some of the bad stuff. great location. You're pretty central to all the things to do from downtown to going to ask the outdoor attractions. Did a thorough bed bug check and found no bed bug evidence in either of the rooms we were in. Mattresses actually were in great condition. friendly staff, especially the gentleman working the night desk. Forget his name but he was extremely friendly and helpful each...
Read moreWe recently stayed three nights at the Asheville-Biltmore West location and had a great experience. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the sofa, on which we could sit together while we drank our morning coffee and plan our activities for the day. The housekeeping staff was efficient and accommodating, and gave us extra Keurig coffee pods upon request. We had the buffet breakfast on two mornings and dinner on two evenings, once in the atrium area and once in the bar area. There was an excellent array of breakfast offerings on the buffet, and everything we tried was delicious. The servers in the breakfast area were attentive and friendly. Both of our dinners were outstanding! The food was not only delicious, but beautifully presented, and our server, Andy, was wonderful. The negatives we encountered during our stay were few, but deserve mention. First, the entrance to the hotel appeared to have been well-marked at one time, but trees and bushes have been allowed to grow and obscure the entrance. Even after we knew the entrance was there, we almost missed it on subsequent returns to the hotel. There is a second entrance/exit at the rear of the property, and we found it was much easier to use the rear access when exiting, as the traffic is quite heavy around the front entrance. Second, we were quite disappointed that the outdoor pool was “closed for the season” (we stayed May 19-22). We had looked forward to sitting outside around the pool, and were unable to do so. The indoor pool and hot tub were very nice, however, and we made the best of things. Overall, we were very satisfied with our visit, and would definitely...
