I've been coming to this Days Inn for YEARS. It's been run down for a long time, but the grounds are quiet and staff were always lovely up until the new management. I didn't see any of my usual staff on this stay: everyone seems to be related now.
I booked online using a corporate code (my company stays in hotels for hundreds of nights per year. I myself am at 77 stays JUST at Wyndham properties for the year!). I requested a king room in the reservation. Upon check in, I asked if there were ANY ground floor rooms available, stating that I would take literally anything ground floor. The clerk stated that the ground floor was completely sold out due to half their rooms having new water heaters installed. I said it was fine, my husband and I just wanted to get to bed.
Neither key worked when we got to the room. I went back till get it re keyed, and there was a woman checking in in front of me. No reservation, but lo and behold they magically had a ground floor room for her. The clerk said that all the single king rooms were sold out, and tried to argue when I reminded him I had asked for LITERALLY ANYTHING ground floor upon check in. Rather than argue, I got the keys redone. He and the woman who came to the front desk muttered under their breaths that I had let the keys demagnetize by my phone. Interestingly, I'd only been holding the room keys, and not my phone so I guess I'm too magnetic.
After a few minutes, the front desk called. To make sure we'd gotten into the room. How would we have answered the phone if we hadn't gotten in?? Maybe they would have come up to check if we hadn't answered?
The room was stuffy and hot when we got inside, but thankfully the AC was good and it cooled down within an hour.
Yessir, now the hotel is looking prettier, but the work itself isn't all good. I've attached some photos of the refurbished room we were given. A nice electrical hazard, a pinch or cutting hazard if you had small children, and a shoddy door lock. They've kept the old deep tub, which was surprising. New sink fixtures, BIG flatscreen tv, and micro/fridge, which the rooms have had for as long as I can remember. So a mix of good and bad. I expect rates will go up on this hotel, which would be most unfortunate as it's been one of the more affordable places in the area.
Surprisingly, the breakfast options are still good. Pancakes, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, and the usual bread options.
I do honestly hope the new owners can get it together without making this Days Inn completely unaffordable. I also hope they're able to be honest with their customers and not make assumptions. The facilities look much nicer than they have in years, but I sure do miss the southern hospitality I've been accustomed to all...
Read moreMy parents came into town for the week. I gave them the number for this Days Inn. My mother booked the room. I am local so I decided to drive over there and check out the rooms. The young man at the service desk was very friendly as I asked to see a room. He told me what room my parents were going to be in and gave me a room key to check it out. The room was perfect, clean and updated just as they described. My parents arrived in town on a Sunday afternoon. I have 2 sisters who were traveling with them. The oldest is 41 and is autistic and my younger sister is 4. They were happy with the room. We met over at the room on Monday to make plans. The AC was cold but not keeping the room as cool as they wanted. The owner came right over to check it out. He worked on the unit but couldn't get it to work better. They moved my parents to the room next door with a nice cool unit. We spent some time there and used the swimming pool. As we were at the pool the owner and staff were doing outside cleaning and dusting. The hotel outside areas were very clean and well kept. The owner was on the premises and very friendly. We used the pool a few times during the week and the staff was great! The rate was very reasonable. I travel quite often for work and stay in all kinds of hotels like Holiday Inn and Mariots and I would stay in this hotel. I sometimes bring staff down here from other offices. I would recommend this Days Inn any day...
Read moreAs a former days inn employee, this property blew me out of the water from the one I’m used to! The lobby was clean, and had a big space for breakfast (it is free but I didn’t eat it due to an early appointment). I also didn’t check out the pool during my stay, but there seemed to be many people down at it! I booked for one night due to an appointment with my orthopedic doctor. I was alone, and had originally booked a single queen bed. The only queen they had available was in the back of the hotel, and since I was alone the front desk upgraded me to a single king at no extra charge, and had me right next to the office in case I needed anything. My room was clean and had no odors. The Wi-Fi worked great for the use I was making of it. Shower pressure was great, and air worked excellent. The BED! Omg probably the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve slept on, and the pillows were so fluffy and nice. I’m a toddler mom, so it was nice to have a night alone in a comfy place without tiny feet in my back. The hotel is in a great location, right down the road from Walmart, Starbucks next door, CFA, chipotle, and Applebees across the street for quick eats. My only complaint is the hotel uses direct tv and a very light storm came through and knocked the signal out for a while. This Days Inn will definitely be my go to place to stay for any of my future...
