This is one of those hotels where the front desk clerk treats you like a criminal for wanting to rent a room. The young East Indian woman at the front desk in the mornings really needs a lesson in customer service. Terribly rude, brusque, suspicious. I think this place is a total scam. They try and grab every dollar they can. I looked online to get prices before I called in to make a reservation, glad I did. When I called I was quoted $20 over the rate listed on their website. When I asked about that, the woman on the phone got flustered and sputtered that there are different rates online, since it's a third party site. Then I pointed out that it was THEIR website...she was busted trying to price gouge me. Take my advice and book online. If you call the desk directly, they'll pull a large number out of the air. This hotel is not worth the money. Stay down the street, at much nicer hotels and actually cheaper rates. Its old, run down, there are no amenities and the staff is rude. My room was large, but dated. Dirty carpet, my feet were black. The shower ran out of hot water. The guard the towels like you are going to steal them. The maid knocked at my door very early, and argued with me about if I had paid for the room yet. The bed had cigarette burns. The worst problem here is that they seem to try and keep guests deposits for any reason they can dream up. I was awoke very early by another guest checking out who was yelling about the front desk clerk trying to charge her for damages she said she didn't cause. Normally I wouldn't let that bother me, but I've been in the office when I saw this happen to a few other guests too. What they do is, upon check out, they go up to the room to inspect it. They find whatever reason they can to retain the deposit....dirty bathroom, stained towels, "smoke damage". I actually watched the clerk do this to two guests in a row. You can't tell me that every single guest damages their room. They tried to pull that on me the last time I stayed there. Claimed that the bed spread had cigarettes burns in it and they needed $65 to replace it. Now, the cover had burns on it when I checked in, but I count couldn't prove it so I was screwed. However the next time I stayed there I was in the same room and the exact same cover with the exact same holes in it, was still on the bed! A total scam. They are probably pocketing the deposits, because they sure aren't using them to restore the rooms oe the so called damage they said was done. I will be calling corporate to report this. This is theft,...
Read moreWhere to begin? How about Location, Location, Location! The Days Inn Auburn backs on to a small airport, very appealing if you are fond of the sound of small planes and helicopters! A short walk across the parking lot and you are at the Iron Horse Casino, or at night, when the partially lit neon sign was on, the Iron Ho (not sure if this was deliberate or not). A more dismal casino I have not been in- I don’t think even Gary Busy would hang out here. Across the street was the typical shady strip mall with a massage parlor and a “glassware” shop. So basically if you want to fly your small plane in, gamble in an empty run down casino, buy a pipe, smoke some meth and finish the night off with a massage/happy ending, the Auburn Days Inn might be your place!!!! If on approach to the motel, you think it is a bit rundown….well you are right. It compliments the Iron Ho nicely. Upon entering our room, I first noted that the carpet was pretty worn down and discolored, I think it was a very high traffic area for the ants in our room- they seemed to be very diligent and hard workers!! I had concerns about people peeking in our room, but luckily years of god knows what had left some kind of haze on our windows to limit the clarity any creepers might be able to see through. This security feature was new to me, but appreciated. Other subtle touches included the arachnid collaboration with the fine art in the room and the splotchy two tone bath tub, you always wonder if you were cleaner before you got in the shower. My friend and I dared each other to actually take a bath in the tub, but were far to sober to do so. Also, if you find house cleaning to be pesky and irksome, the Days Inn remedied this by only coming on the last day of our 4 day stay!!!! The one redeeming factor of this motel was the bathroom floor phone. If you get drunk and fall down on the bathroom floor, and then have the burning desire to call someone, you don’t have to move!!!!! If this room was $49 per night I might have been more understanding of the places foibles, but it averaged out to $179 per night, which for us Canadians came out to $235 CAD per night which is insane for this place, they could have at least thrown in a 20% off coupon for the massage parlor!!!! This was the worst and most overpriced motel I have...
Read moreThey are lucky to even get one star. We go here every year. But this year has been the worst. They have just gotten worse too. Breakfast used to be good. They at least had food to feed everyone that was paying to stay in the rooms there. Now all they serve is toast and you might be lucky to get a boiled egg. They have instant oatmeal, cold cereal, juice and milk. No fresh fruit, donuts, danish, or bagels. But the last time we went there, was for Easter weekend and they gave everyone different rates for the room. They are so unprofessional and the rooms are terrible now. The carpet is coming up and some stuff is out of date. The beds do not have protective sheets.. So if someone had bed bugs, the beds are not protected. The bath smelled like a dog was given a bath. The coffee machine did not work at all. When we checked into our room there was white stuff on our top sheet. We were so tired we just took the top sheet off and went to bed. I usually bring extra blankets and figured that this days inn has always been a good place to go to and they proved me wrong. From now on I don't care, I'm going to pay $200 for a room a night at Holiday Inn Express. They atleast have waffles and bacon, fresh fruit and bagels. I'm not dealing with this hotel ANYMORE. They kept my deposit and made my kids sit in the freezing cold, on our SECOND night because our keys got shut off. They overcharged us for one night, and OVERCHARGED us again the SECOND NIGHT. We paid $89 for a SINGLE bed. Then since they kept our deposit, we ended up paying for $100 for a night in a bad hotel that used to be so well maintained and is now just a rip off. I should of just slept in my car then over paying for this hotel. But hey, they probably needed the money for breakfast that the employees were eating before all the...
