Unfortunately, my experience was deeply unsatisfactory due to serious cleanliness and health concerns that made the stay unacceptable. We encountered multiple signs of unsanitary conditions, including the presence of roach sightings in the hotel room kitchen and visible mouse droppings in the room. These are not only unsettling, but also pose legitimate health and safety risks. I documented the findings and have provided photographic evidence upon request, and was still denied a refund.
I expected basic cleanliness and hygiene standards to be upheld, especially for a paid accommodation. The issues I experienced fall far below those expectations and created an environment that was neither safe nor suitable for any guest.
Unfortunately, upon arrival we had an event to attend so we quickly checked in and quickly left the hotel. We arrived back fairly late. My three small children were already tucked into bed and asleep during the discovery of mice droppings, roaches, other bugs, food, crumbs and hair in the corners of the room. I packed up all of our belongings right back into the suitcases, zipped them fully up and put our suitcases on the table tops hoping no roaches or mice were able to get into our personal items.
Given the severity of these concerns, my family and I decided to find another hotel first thing in the morning. We checked in at the Staybridge Suites (costing an additional $256.48), but well worth it. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend Staybridge Suites.
To make matters worse, I kindly spoke to John at the Best Western Auburndale front desk and let him know that we have left the hotel due to cleanliness concerns. He was very rude, insisting that we will not get a refund and lacked basic customer service skills.
I would not recommend the Best Western Auburndale hotel. I requested a refund a week ago and still have not received our money back as it was denied by Best Western Auburndale management.
**Update response to the owner’s comment:
I appreciate your response, but I stand by my experience. The room I was given had clear cleanliness issues, which I documented, and I reached out for a refund in good faith, the very next morning on my first night (and a whole day before my checkout out date). I find it disappointing that the request was denied, especially considering I’m not the only guest who has raised concerns, there’s a consistent pattern of cleanliness complaints in your reviews.
Regarding your statements, specifically “a refund could not be offered due to the timing of your departure and the request being made several hours after checkout” is completely inaccurate. Our hotel reservation was originally booked for June 6th-June 8th. I reported these issues the very next morning on June 7th (the day before our checkout date on 6/8).
This isn’t about one bad night; it’s about accountability and basic hospitality standards. I hope you’ll take guest feedback seriously moving forward and make the improvements others have...
Read moreWhen checking in the gentleman working the front desk had his phone blaring on YouTube. He had walked away from the desk and had it playing for the lobby to hear. When returning, I think he could tell I was agitated and proceeded to tell me how he purchased a Range Rover for his wife in vehicles for his multiple kids. Apparently Range rivers are known to have issues so he watches the videos on how to repair them on his free time. When we finally got checked, and we proceeded to the room only to have to pass through extremely loud teenage boys living their best life. It was almost 11 PM by the time we got to the hotel and checked in after a sporting event all day. I called the front desk around midnight because the same gentleman were running up and down the hallway and screaming profanities. The front desk basically hung up on me saying they would take care of it. About 30 minutes later, it was still continuing so I called again. The employee at the front desk seemed annoyed to hear from me again however, I let him know. I have young children and it being well after midnight now was unacceptable to not let their chaperone know. I was able to let them know exactly what room number. These boys were coming in and out of and the chaperone went screaming at them even louder than the boys had been themselves. She also had no Care in the world for who called or what was happening. This behavior and volume level continued, and we attempted to get some sleep, but truly almost left to just sleep in the car because it was ridiculous. I would think there would be cameras on each floor for the employees to be able to monitor and anyone slightly paying attention would have seen and heard what was happening, but yet again his phone on YouTube was probably more important. Highly disappointed and will never return to this hotel, which is sad because it was fairly clean and in decent neighborhood that we frequent with sporting events often. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone...
