I called first to ask if we could have 2 rooms next to or close to each other. She assured me that would happen. So I made a reservation on June 9th for 2 double rooms, for the night of June 24th, 15 days later.||We got there between 3:30 & 4:00. We were told the rooms weren’t next to each other, only one room was ready & the rooms were on different floors. The lady who checked us in went to make sure the room on the first floor (#112) was ready. We found this very odd as check out time is 11 & check in time is 3:00. She came back out from the hallway to the rooms, with another woman, who was protesting the price of water. The clerk told her “the price of everything is going up.” She gave us a key, & we went to get our things from the car. Our group of 4 fought our way to the lobby with our belongings, because there were refugees blocking the main entrance. We put everything in the first room, avoiding the trash strewn all over the hallway & we smelled bacon throughout the hallway. ||||Multiple problems with this room include: the light in the bathroom didn’t work, there was a bag of chicken bones spilled behind the door of the room, there was trash behind the nightstand, no room phone, no microwave, no trash can, the tv didn’t work, the toilet seat wasn’t attached to the toilet, & the biggest thing was the smoke detector was not on the ceiling only BARE wires hanging! Staff came to clean up & fix the bathroom light. We left for dinner & when we came back 2 hours later, the old light fixture for the bathroom was in the entryway of the room along with the cover for the light & the light STILL didn’t work! That pretty much cancelled any sense of privacy as the bathroom door had to be opened while in use in order to see anything. Obviously, they couldn’t use the shower & were naturally reluctant to do so, because of the poor condition of the hotel & room in general. Children were constantly running up & down the hallways, screaming & banging on & into the room door, until well past midnight. Later, feces were discovered on the bedsheets. Just after midnight, there was a screaming match between 2 women in the hallway of the first floor, directly outside of room 112. It went on for hours. No room phone, so couldn’t call the front desk to report it, though how they couldn’t hear it from the front desk, is a mystery to me. Of course, no one in their right mind would have gone out to the hallway & make their way to the front desk personally, not knowing how serious the hallway fight was. ||||When we were able to get into the 2nd room (#204) it also had a disabled (wires hanging) smoke detector, & the shower, once turned on, had mold coming out of it in clumps, no microwave & no refrigerator, the only accessible working electrical outlets were on the lamps, none in the bathroom, the phone was on the bottom shelf of the nightstand also disabled, we didn’t attempt turning the tv on with the electrical issues in the room, cigarette burns on the sheets.||||Raw chicken on the stairs & in the hallway the next morning.||||Though breakfast was advertised on the site, we were informed at check-in there was no breakfast in the morning. No desk or ergonomic chairs in the rooms, coffee maker in the 2nd floor room with no coffee makings. No coffee maker in room 112. The towels were obviously not dried in a clothes dryer. ||||The reason for the horrific circumstances & revolting condition of the hotel, is the Ukrainian Gypsies (staff's words, not mine) that have taken over the property. They congregate (mostly 2-3 women & about 7 kids) at the front entrance, propped open the emergency door which didn’t seem to concern the staff at all, & had a bull session (about 8-12 men) with alcohol & chairs from inside the hotel, in the parking lot in the evening when we came back from dinner. I was informed they have been there for 3 weeks, but I’d surmise it has been even longer than that. As this group of people were obviously there when I called BEFORE securing the reservation, (requested 2 rooms near each other) if I had been told there was no room due to the overcrowding, & the property was in severe disrepair, I would absolutely NOT have booked the rooms at this hotel. I feel a 50% refund if not more, is in order. ||||I tried for 20 minutes (on Sunday), to call the manager & it seems the phone wasn’t working...."All circuits are busy..." After calling Corporate, I got an email from the manager apologizing, saying "we'll do better for your next stay." I called the number in the email & the manager REFUSED to refund me for the nastier of the 2 rooms, saying I was told about the refugees at check in (not true) & he could have rented the room otherwise. We weren't told how filthy the property was until we'd gotten our belongings from the car & come back into the hotel. I only asked for a refund of the one room attempting to be reasonable. Apparently, I'm being out of line as the manager actually...
Read moreI don't like being fooled by reviews like most of the ones this place has. Most of them must be for a different place. Going in order...||||First, this place is difficult to get to. The GPS in my car was repeatedly "fooled" while trying to get there. To say that this hotel is in a rough part of a violent city is an understatement. The only way I succeeded in finding it was to first use the address of a pizza place I planned to go to for supper, and then updating the GPS. This "hotel" is in an industrial development which has long since seen better days. Getting accosted at an intersection by an aggressive panhandler while enroute was a highlight of the trip to this "hotel". ||||When I finally got there, I had to be "beeped" in by the desk clerk. Yes, there is an electric lock on the door to allow entry into the lobby. This was in a manner not unlike you would expect in a high-security prison. Indeed, most U.S. airport terminals aren't as secure as the lobby of this hotel is. While I was being checked-in, I was intrigued by the "rules" of the hotel. Especially the one about "visitors" (and the hours they're allowed) in guest rooms. The inattention to grammar on the signs about smoking (see photo) should've given me a clue on what awaited me.||||Since this is only a two-story hotel, there is no elevator. However, my request for a ground-floor room was ignored (despite the hotel appearing to be near empty) and I had to navigate the stairs. Perhaps it was for my safety that I was located on the upper level?||||The room was reasonably well-decorated and initially seemed clean. The whole interior of the place appears to have been recently remodeled. Unfortunately, the heating in the room wasn't up to the task of keeping the place warm on a sub-freezing night. The worst part of all was the absence of hot water at 7:00 AM! This is unacceptable! It was a preview of the chill that awaited me in the hallway as it was quite cold when I went down to breakfast. ||||I have to say "initially seemed clean" (despite a strange "guard" installed on the light switch next to the room door), because, when I turned around, there was an obvious "X" mark/stain left on the inside of the room door. There was also a chip in the finish of the bathtub. The wiring for the hairdryer appears to have been an afterthought. There was no microwave in the room although there was an opening in the entertainment center where one could've fit. (There was a fridge, though...) There was also a noticeable crack in one wall. Finally, there was a stain on the chair. Please see the attached photos. ||||The best thing I can say about this place is that the sausage at breakfast was quite good. The eggs on the other hand, looked like an industrial/institutional product. ||||Between that cold water for the shower, the room not getting above a cool temperature, and the frosty morning chill in the upstairs corridor, this hotel is setting an example of what "green" practices can mean for a hotel guest. ||||It was interesting that at checkout, the desk clerk didn't ask if I'd had a good stay. Before I could tell him about the hot water problem, he asked if I (senior citizen) needed help with my luggage. And, when I said I didn't he said "see you next time" while taking my card key and walking away.||||Outside, my car was one of only five in the parking lot. Thankfully, it appeared unmolested. I loaded it up and got out of there, thankful I'd survived the experience.||||This was without doubt, one of the worst -if not the worst- hotel experiences of my life. Thankfully, I only used my "Choice Rewards" points to "pay" for the room. I'm surprised Dan Bell hasn't filmed a "show" here. Yet...||||Summation: Don't even think about considering this place! If you have a choice between sleeping on the sidewalk and spending a night here, you might be better off on...
Read moreThe front desk lady was trying so hard but I did not enjoy my stay here. I stayed one night and left abruptly in the morning. The poor front desk woman even commented that I didn't look like I'd slept well and was surprised I wasn't staying for the free breakfast. The area this hotel was in just did not feel safe. The hotel felt gross and dingy. As soon as I entered the hall from the lobby, I knew what I was in for. I got smacked in the face with the most foul oder I had ever smelled. I don't know what it was, it was just enough to make me gag. When I got to my room there was an intimidating looking man pacing on his phone in front and yelling angrily on his cell that I had to shoot so I could get to my room. When I got in the room, it was seemingly clean but just had a disgusting feel about it. The decor was hideous, like very dark maroon and black, not welcoming at all, it felt like a prison which for the next 8-10 hours it basically was. I could smell someone next door was smoking pot as if they were in the room with me. The man I saw on the way in relocated to outside shortly after I came in only to pace right outside my room on the exterior this time where he stayed the rest of the night it seemed. I tried to make the best of the place, I went to the bathroom and saw what appeared to be bullet holes in the bathtub which was not inviting. I tried the TV, but it didn't get any channels. There were 3 channels and 2 were odd cartoon channels. The black and white kind that play when someone gets murdered, not relaxing. I tried the wifi, it did not work. I called the front-desk, was given another password, it still didn't work. It was 9pm and most of the local businesses were closed, which is very telling of the area this was located in. I sat at the desk to try and eat my takeout dinner from Long John Silvers, (because yes you come to Maryland for seafood and when every place is closed nearby and you don't want to walk the streets at night, you settle) and realized it was broken and wobbly and the chair felt like it was going to break and the height adjusting didn't work so I sat 3ft off the ground at eye level with my food. I tried to use the AC but it just blew the curtains open wide so the angry pacing man was able to see inside and look at me with the most confused yet aggressive look someone had ever given someone. Overall, this was just a terrible experience. Would it meet the minimum requirements to be a clean place to rest your head for the night? Yes. Would I recommend it? Maybe, if you are traveling, desperate, and can take care of yourself if it came to that. But not if you are traveling alone and can't, not would I ever bring children here. Should it be billed as a Quality Inn? No. This is not what I had come to expect from Quality Inns. This was not the same standard precident as they had set at other hotels in the chain. I spent a night sleeping with one eye open expecting someone to break into my room or to hear gunshots...
