We loved it here! Everything was sparkling clean, even to me and I am a germophobe. Normally my allergies are terrible in hotels but I was fine at the Bar Harbor Motel, which I think indicates how clean it is. The 2 bedroom unit was perfect for our family of 5 (3 kids). The back bedroom had 2 double beds, but since the kids didn’t want to share a bed, we brought a twin sized camping mattress that fit fine on the floor between the beds (pushed the beds apart slightly). Each bedroom had its own A/C, TV, and door separating it from the small hallway containing the fridge/closet space/ door to the bathroom, so we could stay up later than the kids without disturbing them at all. We did have a slight issue on the first day with an odor seemingly from a malfunctioning toilet, but the staff happily switched us to a new unit and called a plumber. They even moved our stuff for us while we were out exploring Acadia. Everyone we encountered there was above and beyond friendly and kind. When the front desk staff heard my son mention that he lost his stuffed animal in town, they even gave each of my kids a stuffed animal- for free! Breakfast was great and lasted until 10:30 so we could sleep in. Plus they have dry cereal, fruit, coffee, and juice available in the lobby all day. Kids LOVED the extras in the evenings- campfire/s’mores, movie night with popcorn, etc (all free). One day they had a visit from scientists with a tank of various local marine creatures (sea stars, crabs, mussels, etc) the kids loved learning and holding them. We also did laundry ($2 each for washer and dryer; they have 3 of each, and detergent/dryer sheets were provided) and we enjoyed the heated pool. The motel had a fun campground vibe. We were able to walk on the trail at the motel, to the Carriage Roads, all the way to the Acadia Visitors Center; about 3 miles? Very do-able with our 5 year old with snacks along the way; very easy beautiful gravel trail with wild blueberries growing along the way! From there you can hop on a free bus either back to the motel, to anywhere in the park, or to downtown Bar Harbor. There is also a bus stop in front of the motel that goes anywhere as well. I can’t recommend Bar Harbor Motel enough. Hope to go...
Read moreHad a great stay here at this motel. The little things really made our stay feel superior. Top notch staff and amenities that are included. My list of amenities I really appreciated • Communication Easy texting service for questions and staff was so friendly at check in and even called to let us know of fire with s’mores wasn’t cancelled because of short staff (they couldn’t guarantee it at check in) I had a question about charges called back within an hour and easily resolved. Even called our friends to let them know they left an AirPod after we left. • Fire and s’mores nightly • Lobster decorative towels on the bed (so cute) • Cute vintage styled rooms and clean Includes microwave • Snacks and drinks available through the day/until front desk closes One night we were tired and thought about ordering food but remember they had snacks and went and got cereal and yogurt. Saved us some money and energy! • Best Variety for continental breakfast I’ve seen. Hot food, waffle one morning then pancakes the next (you toast them) we actually liked this vs the messy make your own. Fresh fruit, Cheese and meat, muffins, bagels, English muffins even Gluten Free options!!! (Hot food clearly not the best quality but for a free breakfast it was great) • Great view to eat breakfast outside I was surprised so many people even ate inside, had a view of the water. •Pretty landscaping
We booked this last minute and wasn’t looking for anything crazy just a place to stay in Bar harbor that didn’t cost too much and this was above and beyond....
Read moreEnjoyed 6 nights stay. This is a very relaxing, quiet, peaceful setting. It reminded me of a mountain campground. Our room was in a building of 4. The retro decor was fun. Bedding was very comfortable. Room had a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ample supply of toiletries including body lotion, shampoo & conditioner. Free parking at each building/room. It would have been nice if there were a small shelf or narrow table inside the bathroom to place your clothes on. Also I would have liked to have an additional chain/latch on the entry door in addition to the deadbolt lock. Grounds were nice with Adirondack chairs in grassy areas, a nice pool (heated I believe but we didn’t use), fire pit, guest laundry area, & they have activities for kids/families. Breakfast was much more plentiful than I had expected & was kept well stocked late into the morning! Bacon, link sausage, scrambled eggs daily. Either French toast, waffles, or pancakes that could be reheated were offered daily. Bowls of cut fruit, cheese cubes, assorted muffins, bagels, English muffins, banana bread, coffee cake, croissants, pastries, yogurt, boiled eggs, cereal, granola bars, oranges, apples, bananas (many items great to take on your hike), instant oatmeal, juices, coffee, tea, & hot chocolate. Staff was great & recommended some restaurants & boat tour company. Everyone was so helpful & friendly. Location was convenient to Acadia park entrance & to Bar...
