Unfortunately this place is not worth the price for its quality. Positives: - The pretzel appetizers were great! Fresh and buttery. - The Waiter was extremely nice, always checked up on us and was patient with my family. Negatives: - My spouse chose the fish and chips. The fries were great, yet the fish was not cooked correctly. The batter was not cooked all the way, so it was very mushy and tasted/felt like dough. His plate also had dried blueberry pie on the side?? Don’t think the plate was cleaned thoroughly. - My aunt and I ordered the Baked Haddock. No seasoning whatsoever, very small portion for the price, and the fish stuck to the plate. The side was mini potatoes, my aunt got about 12, I literally got 2. - My dad and brother ordered steak, which was EXTREMELY small for the price, it tasted like Dennys steak. They were extremely disappointed. - My youngest sibling, ordered from the kids menu. She got chicken tenders, with a side what seemed like ketchup, but instead was a thick spicy hot sauce. I’m sorry but what kind of restaurant gives a child a whole condiment cup of spicy hot sauce? She was in shock and had to drink lots of water. - There was only two choices of sides, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Not to mention I heard another family didn’t get a whole meal for one of their children. The waiter told them that they forgot and would be cooking it soon. So they had to eat while the child kept saying they were hungry. In conclusion, the price for these extremely small portions is absurd. I’m usually not this picky about restaurants, but I do not recommend this place at all. The total came out to over $150-200. I agree with everyone saying that this place is like a fancy Dennys.

We saved the best place for last on our visit to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. We got there not long before closing as we had been out hiking all day, but they welcomed us in with with nothing but smiles. Our waiter (his name escapes me- but he was very outgoing and was clearly an avid hiker who had grown up in the area) was absolutely wonderful and was super friendly. The food itself was also wonderful- it was the best we had in Bar Harbor. We started with an appetizer of fried calamari which was perfectly cooked and tender. Then we tried the lobster mac & cheese and the surf and turf combo with a whole boiled lobster and a NY strip steak (paired with fingerling potatoes and asparagus). Everything was cooked to perfection, but especially that fresh caught lobster. We finished the night off with sharing their fudge brownie sundae, it was absolutely delicious. Everything was a 10/10. When you are at most establishments past closing, you normally get the feeling that the waitstaff would like for you to leave so they can go home (reasonably so- and we would never try to stay past closing anywhere any longer than necessary)- but the individuals working at Jack Russell's made us feel as if we were part of their family there, engaging in casual conversation with us about our hiking adventures and hometowns, etc. even after we had finished our meals. It really was a delightful experience all around and our only regret is that we did not get to dine there another day as we had to head for home the next morning. But we will be back again in the future for more hiking and "consequently"- another dinner at Jack Russell's. Highly recommend you give them a try if you are in the area.

Most places were closed for winter season in Bar Harbor during our visit on 3-8-24. Jack Russell’s looked welcoming from the road so we stopped in to have dinner. Unfortunately, It was anything but welcoming! The food was below average. My husband’s clam chowder had little to no clams and tasted like a watery/cream broth. It had no clam taste whatsoever. His Haddock was tasteless as well. My filet tips were tough, sitting in tasteless broth with some shredded.fish added. The meatball appetizer and salad were ok. The only thing that we actually liked were the fries. The service wasn’t any better. When we arrived it was slow. Only one table was taken by a small group. The lady told us we could sit anywhere so we walked towards two empty tables by the electric fireplace heater sitting on the ground in the back where it would be warm. As we started to sit, she told us we couldn’t sit there because the people who made reservations will be sitting there. Why couldn’t we sit at the other table across from it? No one sat there the entire time we were there. So we sat at a table blocking the double doors to nowhere with a cold draft, making our experience uncomfortably cold. The two ladies who served our food acted as if we were a burden. I would expect this if we were at a fast food restaurant, but when we are paying upscale prices, the service and food should match.

My wife and I went to this restaurant, we were very excited because we had been one time before and had a great experience. However this time we stayed at a KOA and had taken a bus to get there . Keep in mind we called in advance with our order. We arrived and announced our arrival. My wife paid for the order and even tipped the guy $10 for being so friendly. We then left waited at the bus stopped and arrived about an later to our campground ready to eat and discovered one of the meals to be incorrect and was not there. My wife immediately called the restaurant to get our meal that was missing credited to us.The manager(Jill) said the guy(Omar) that took our order said we did not order it or that everything was in the To go bag.We then stated it was read from a list we made for our order and was witnessed by myself and father in law when she made the call.My wife understandably was offended by being called a liar and said she wanted a credit. .She (Jill the owners sister) hung up on my wife.I immediately called back and asked to speak with Jill. I announced to her who I was ,and asked why she hung up on my wife.Jill stated my wife was being nasty to her and that their was nothing she could do for her. I called her out on her lie and said I was listening in on the phone call and asked again for a credit. She apologized half laughing at me.I then asked to speak with her supervisor. She then said she was the manager. I asked to speak with the owner and she said that would be her sister who doesn't work there she just owns it,as if to say she could make no difference. We were decent customers who just wanted our meal refunded and she basically called us liars to avoid giving us a credit. I do not recommend Jack...
