Perhaps the worst food service experience of my life. We came in for breakfast and not a single employee was smiling or welcoming. The busboy filling our water did not smile or acknowledge our existence. We sat for over 15 mins before anyone came by, and when we mentioned we had asked for cream and sugar, the server matter-of-factly pointed to the table and said "right there". There was no cream. Keep in mind we had gotten the attention of no less than 3 employees, inquiring about where our server was, where the cream was, and when we could place an order. It was like pulling teeth. We decided enough was enough and got up to leave, and the server who was so rude took it another step and gave us an attitude. She insisted that WE apologize and be sorry for being impatient... What??? I've worked food service for 7 years and this is simply unheard of. It appears as though the large female wearing red was the manager or at least the most senior employee but she was clearly diverting responsibility. There is clearly something very, very wrong with management/ownership. There is quite literally nothing good about this establishment besides the view. If you decide to have a nice family trip in Bar Harbor, AVOID this location at all costs. It will...

DO NOT GO HERE- the only good part was the view. Food was bad and service was terrible. Our waitress was literally a crook. Both of our breakfasts clearly indicated that home fries came with it yet our waitress tried to charge us for them and then started to argue that they were separate. We asked for her to grab a menu for us to show her and she begrudgingly did so and removed it from our check since it was included. We asked for the check split and gave her 2 cards. She brought the check back but forgot to split it. She also forgot the toast that came with one of the meals. We specifically asked for the type on ordering so it’s not like she didn’t know. The speed to get the food was also the slowest I have ever experienced for breakfast (45min) and it was not busy. The food I really can’t say anything good about. The execution of everything was just terrible. For example my hollandaise sauce was chunky. Was upset enough about this meal I called and asked for the manager and she rectified the situation. I will try this again and hopefully will leave a more...

Don't EAT here. Just get coffee and enjoy the view.

You are truly just paying for the view. Think of it like a free holiday inn express breakfast (served on paper plates), but you have to pay $40.

-- Super expensive for what you get. You get microwaved food served on paper plates for extreme prices. $11 for premade microwaved pancakes. -- The eggs were fine. It's very hard to mess up eggs. -- The toast wasn't the least bit crispy, just slightly warm bread. -- The pancakes tasted like they have been made hours prior and microwaved. Super gluey and they gave us the wrong kind. -- It all came out on paper plates (would be no issue if the cost was less) -- You had to clean up after yourself (totally fine, but why ask for a tip then?)

You are truly paying for the view. Save your wallet some pain and just get coffee and enjoy the view. If it's not foggy the view is nice. Very warm with the sun beating down on you, but nice nonetheless.

I would have no problem with the prices if the food was good. And I would have no problem with the food if it had waffle house...

We found this place accidentally by following a sign to ocean views and a Hampton Inn hotel on Cleftstone Rd . Much to our surprise the ocean views were from this restaurant next to an older style motel. We arrived when they were closed for lunch so we decided to return the following morning for breakfast on the last day of vacation. Sadly it was at the end of our trip or we would have gone back for another meal. Breakfast on a sunny day was simply perfect. I should have taken pics of the food to show everyone. Pancakes with Maine maple syrup, eggs, bacon, crispy home fries, and multigrain whole wheat toast with coffee and OJ were all prepared with love. Next time we visit Acadia we will be returning to try dinner. A visit for the view alone would be worth the ride. GPS is wrong, just turn onto Cleftstone and follow it to the end.

The Looking Glass Restaurant is an incredible place to enjoy breakfast. The atmosphere is wonderful. Upon walking in, you'll be pleasantly greeted by staff as you quickly come to realize the main attraction of this restaurant, the view. The Looking Glass overlooks the sandbar and parts of downtown Bar Harbor. To say the view is stunning doesn't do it justice. It's best seen in person. Aside from the marvelous view, the food is spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff are so polite and helpful. Customer service is top notch. They definitely put the customer first and should be proud of such an amazing establishment. Looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you so much for your hospitality, delicious food, and incredible view.
