Cozy, adorable cottages very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park! The staff was warm and accommodating. They provide (many times over) very detailed instructions about checking in/out, the accommodations, services, amenities, etc. The cottage we stayed in had a bedroom with two twin beds and a futon which was great for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids aged 11 and under) Futon was fairly comfortable. There was a portable electric cooktop with two irons. Shower only (no tub), water pressure and temp good though challenge to get the water to fall in the middle of shower due to the long cord on the shower head), with prefab plastic shower which was on the smaller side and had shower gel, shampoo and conditioner dispenser similar to most hotels these days. There is a pond (I think you can fish and paddle boat on it) and basketball hoop (did not explore the motel grounds area, so not sure if there is more to do) and our cottage had a wall to write your memories. Fireplace in the main room. Liked the porch which had stools to sit on and enjoy the morning with windows all around that open. Portable AC in the bedroom and window unit in the main room. Window unit was a bit loud and we made due by opening the window and turning on the ceiling fan at night which worked out perfectly. Coffee maker with coffee in the room and we had a fridge and microwave. It is located right off of the main highway (The 3) to Bar Harbor, however we did not hear the traffic even with our window open at night. The one somewhat odd thing we noticed is all of the utensils, mugs (cute moose mugs), pots and pans, etc. are in plastic bags or containers which we assumed was so the owners could tell if they were used or not and keep them clean. Multiple tvs in the cabin and good viewing options for my kids who were the only watchers. Doors are set to automatically lock, so make sure the key is with you if you leave or do not disengaged the auto lock. This was our first Maine cottage experience and we loved it! We used the location to go to Trenton for the Lumberjack Tina show, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It was a perfect location for us and reasonably priced. There was...
Read moreWe made reservations fairly close to the date of our travel, and many places in the area could not provide the kind of accommodations we needed. I wasn't sure about this facility, although it got reasonably good reviews. But it turned out to be just what we wanted, and I'm glad we didn't book earlier and just take the easy route of finding a place in town.||There is a broad variety in terms of rooms/cottages, so it can welcome a broad range of guests. My wife and I were there with our college-aged grandchildren and had a room in the motel that had two two queen beds in the main room and then a small separate room with a full-size bed. It was perfect for us.||We found the room quite comfortable. It was "homey," and the whole property had a kind of old-fashioned charm. It reminded me of a place that we might have stayed in when I was a kid back in the 1950s (but with AC and better appliances). Some people have complained about the beds, but we didn't notice anything in particular about them, although we're not fussy.||We received a friendly welcome when we checked in, and the woman who runs the place was very helpful both at check-in and at several other times during our stay in recommending things to do and places to eat. She had also been quite helpful when I spoke to her prior to our arrival. The "rules" (which are clear at the time of booking) are really not onerous (e.g., wash your dishes and take out the trash when you leave). It might seem odd to ask guests to take out the trash, but this place is "homey" enough that it seemed perfectly natural, although it of course wouldn't at the Hampton Inn.||If we go back to Bar Harbor, I'm pretty sure that we'll return here. We all agreed that we were very pleased with...
Read moreMy partner and I came for our 10th wedding anniversary and loved Eden Village. It's quiet and laid back, bursting with vintage summer ambiance. It's about a 20 minute drive north of Bar Harbor away from the hustle and bustle. Guests were a mix of families with kids and couples. In addition to the cottages and motel there is a sweet little playground, some BBQ grills, and a pond with ducks and a paddle boat. It was a great place for morning coffee. We originally booked 2 nights in cabin 5, and added two more nights last minute, so we got to stay in 3 rooms total. All the rooms were very clean and tidy, and comfortably furnished.
Room 21, completely remodeled, is at the end of the 10 room motel. It features a new kitchenette with basic cookware, and two beds. It's a large room that could easily accommodate 4 people. All the motel rooms share a long common porch which is a nice place to chat with others if you wanted to be social. Room 27 was a bit more basic. There is no kitchenette, but it's a good room with standard amenities if you're looking for a place to lay your head between outdoor adventures.
The cabin was the real highlight of our stay. It's the perfect studio size for a two person getaway. It features nice hardwood floors, a full kitchenette, brick fireplace, and adorable screened in porch. Our visit was in August so we didn't use the fireplace, but I imagine this would be a perfect touch if you visited in the late autumn to watch the leaves change.
Thank you to the staff for helping make our stay on Mount Desert Island...
