Nothing fancy, just lobster. We pulled in and found a parking spot that had around 15 parking spots. You stand in line to order at the shack, choose from the large menus. You get a number, and they will bring your food out to you. There are lots of places to sit, picnic tables under cover, picnic tables outside, and chairs by the fire pit. We ordered the lobster for 1 with muscles and corn, naked lobster roll, crab roll, and blueberry pie. The boiled lobster is just straight boiled, no season. You do get butter. Ordered a side of tue chowder, rich flavor that had potatoes, corn, and big chunks of seafood. The crab roll was good. It had a lot of meat, but the mayo seemed a little too much. The naked lobster had nothing on it but had butter on the side with it. Each of the sandwiches had cape cod chips. We got blueberry pie to go, and it was so good. The taste was definitely blueberry, not too sweet, and the blueberries were so small.

Average experience. This was our first stop in Bar Harbor. We were recommended this place on social media. It was extremely expensive and just meh. We ordered a hard shell medium lobster and a lobster roll. We loved the lobster roll. It was cold with mayo style. I’ve only ever had lobster roll once before and this was a lot better. The lobster was yummy. They paired it with Cape Cod beans potato chips which I thought was cheap. We ordered blueberry pie and whoopie pie. Both were meh. The blueberry pie lacked flavor and the whoopie pie just isn’t my thing. The atmosphere is nice. It’s all outdoors and you all up to the shack to order. You have to throw out your trash, but they do serve you the food. They call out your number and you raise ur hand and they come over. They have a fire pit and Adirondack chairs which is nice. I loved their old soaker blueberry soda. Restroom outside porta potty

We’ve been coming here for years, and when we do it’s at least two visits per visit in Bar Harbor. We’ve eaten lobster dinners at restaurants downtown and the Lobster Pound, and by far the best tasting is here. The key is they cook their produce in fresh sea water, and it makes a whole world of difference. Other places have smaller lobsters, chewy tough lobsters (for under 3lb; the bigger the tougher they get), and bitter aftertaste lobsters - but never this place. The atmosphere is serene, relaxing, the perfect place for gatherings. You can actually hear each other talk, unlike the loud music in other outdoor dining experiences. Best of all, they have the best blueberry pies!! They make them from scratch and we always bring back a whole pie for the road home. (Ps: if you’re not in the mood for lobsters, try the crab roll. It is just as delicious as the fresh seafood and pie)

My whole goal for my first trip to Bar Harbor was to find a local spot for lobster. I didn't want to go to one of the places on the strip. I wanted to get my lobster from a real deal lobster pound. I read some reviews and did some research. After looking at some write ups, I decided that it couldn't get much better than a place that doesn't even have indoor seating. We arrived and were welcomed as soon as we walked in. We asked for some guidance and were quickly directed to the overhead menu. All of our questions were answered. We decided to go with the real lobster experience for two. We picked out two lobsters and a bag of mussels. After making our selection, picking our blueberry pie, and our local soda, we paid and made our way to a picnic table next to a fire pit. When our food was ready, it was brought to us at our table, along with everything necessary to consume our meal. Now the food. The mussels were so tasty. This food was steamed in seawater, so the flavor of the mussels had a nice salty taste. They were cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. The corn, also steamed in the same pot, was equally as good. I have never eaten corn without drenching it in butter and salt. Not tonight. The corn had the same mildly salty taste to it. The lobster was the sweetest lobster meat I have tasted and was extremely easy to shuck. After consuming our meal, it was time for the blueberry pie. The crust was light, flaky, and buttery. The filling was delicious and not too sweet, but just the right amount of sweet. the food was great, the service was fantastic, and the staff was friendly. Not at all surprised that this is a family business. I can't wait to plan our next trip to the area. We will definitely come back to...

If you want fresh lobster cooked just right, this is the place for you! Don't come here for the ambiance... There is none. Don't come here for fancy service, there is none. Don't come here after dark... they are closed. Don't come here if you want to eat indoors... there are picnic tables for you only. Don't come after Oct 10 (for 2016 season) because they are closed for the winter.

This is a roadside shack with a few outdoor pots that cook up really fresh, delicious lobster and steamed mussels. You come here, order at the counter, find a picnic table outdoors, and they bring the food to you in 15 or so minutes. They close at dusk (there are no lights). When you order, they pluck the lobsters right out of the tank, put it on a tray, and it gets boiled in seawater that is freshly obtained each day. We had the meal for two, which gives you two lobsters, two pounds of steamed mussels, and two ears of corn. The lobsters were sweet and cooked just right. The shells were soft, probably because we came in late summer (September) and the lobsters were malting. The mussels are really fresh with none of the after taste. The corn was delicious. All for $33. Can't be beat! We had chowder (halibut) that was pretty good but a bit salty.

We came here for the food and we loved it. I thought we had pretty good lobster dinner the night before in the middle of Bar Harbor but food wise, this place beats the other place by a mile.

I love the food here and as long as you know what to expect (very casual and no "facilities"), you will have an...

We did Maine from Portland to Bar Harbor and back. How many lobster rolls places did we stop at? Way too many for me to admit, but more than my suit is going to tolerate once I get back home. But, that sheer number of experiences gives me a little perspective on why this is a 5 star place.

You are going to drive by it and not give it a second look. That's what we did the first time. We ended up looking at reviews and going to the Travelin Lobster a few mins away because the photos looked better. And that place was good - that review is next. But, if we come back to Acadia, we will be coming back to C-Ray. Why?

You get a good amount of lobster. The bun itself (not the lobster) is PANINI toasted, which was unique and now that's how I want every lobster roll done. The melted butter complimented the chilled meat perfectly. It's not crowded. The blueberry pie is the best. Josh (think that's his name) came out to talk to us and was just a good guy and that alone makes me want to support him. He told us that he buys his pies from a local lady, not just a Costco style pie that he cuts up. They increased their prices for him a few months ago like everyone has, but he sticks with them because they are local and the product is good. That says a lot for me. He needs better marketing, so here I am doing my part.

Stop and get a...
