These people have INTEGRITY, which is high on my list! I left my credit card in their office, by the computer, after using it to purchase my 7:00 am entry to the summit of Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. Days later, after I got home, they called me several times until I finally answered, to tell me. They sent it to me by mail, and asked for nothing in return. My image of Maine has been left untarnished, thanks to this act of honest kindness, in a world which is often unkind. 5 stars for that! The rooms are clean, the facility "dated," but that is part of its charm.
Very cute and cozy, it was just what I needed to get 2 comfy good nights' sleep during my late September-trip to Maine. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe, and was able to park my rental car right at my door, in true 1950's travel motel style! Very clean, basic amenities, with a fridge in the room and good WiFi. It was chilly, so no one was using the pool. There was a bonfire/campfire circle going at night, which I am sure was enjoyed by some lovely families roasting marshmallows.
I did make use of the very nice and clean laundry facility, which felt luxurious after a week of solo travel, with a big table for folding laundry, vending machines, and a microwave. The laundry is in its own little cabin with a generous front porch, complete with chairs to relax and ponder your next day in beautiful Maine!
It was mostly just a safe and quiet place to sleep for me, and the morning breakfast is like a school lunch your mom packed for you, so don't expect anything gourmet. Save your money for the delicious fresh...
Read moreWow! What a sweet, cozy motel! I recently traveled to MDI for work and needed a place to spend the night that was clean, safe, and moderately priced; this fit the bill. It's certainly no frills, but they cover the essentials nicely; my room was stocked with toiletries, extra linens, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Wifi was free, and easy to access, if a little spotty. My room was itty bitty, but just fine for me, and I'm sure a couple would find it comfy and cozy. The room was also neat as a pin. There's parking right outside each room, as a well as a narrow porch running the length of the motel with a pair of Adirondack chairs for each room. A cabin on the property is equipped with ice and vending machines, two washing machines, two dryers, a microwave, and table and chairs; the cabin even has it's own porch complete with rocking chairs! Also on-site are a number of picnic tables, a fire pit, in-ground pool, swing set, and basketball hoop. Though the establishment is simple, it’s cute and you can tell the staff have put a lot of thought into keeping guests comfortable. It's kind of off the beaten path, but an easy 15 min. drive to the Bar Harbor Village. If you're visiting MDI and plan to be out during the day taking in the sites, shopping, restaurants, etc., and just need a comfortable place to crash each evening, I'd highly recommend...
Read moreAn ok motel for just one night. Overpriced like all the others in the area. Nothing special about it. Only stayed there for one night just to be close to the Acadia Park in the morning and see the sunset from the top of Cadillac Mountain and Bar Harbor at night. Funnily this motel is a miniature of what a real motel is. Everything was downsized and small: room, bathroom, sink, shower stall, even the front door. I could barely move around in the shower, so tight. And then the stench in the room. Not impressed. If I stayed in long enough and good used to it, I wouldn't feel the deference. But when I got out and came back in ... yeah it was still there. The following night I checked in at a real hotel in Bangor and paid the same amount of money but it was big, clean, comfortable and had free breakfast in the morning. Next time when I travel to Acadia again I will stay at a hotel in Bangor. Definitely worth the drive from there. The convenience of staying at this motel does no longer ring with me. But like I said, one night is probably ok. More than that and you...
