Motel 6 Huntington, WV — Hotel in Barboursville

We have been loyal to Motel 6 ever since we moved across the country with our 2 dogs and stayed nightly at locations along the way. However, our recent stay at Motel 6 in Huntington WV was very disappointing and I wanted to write this review because it did not meet the standards that we have experienced elsewhere. When we arrived to check-in, late and exhausted, the staff was hostel to us having dogs with us and questioned what kind and what size. They said there was a size restriction and I said your website explicitly says there are no restrictions on size as long as they were well-behaved and supervised (We have 1-15 lb dog and 1-60 lb dog - again we've never had any issues with staying at your other locations with them and never leave them unattended.) We declared the dogs when we checked-in but they said they had the right to charge us extra for them. I again said that this was no where located in their policy. The room being dingy, with no tub stopper and unfinished renovations and the general unfriendliness of the staff I could look past, but our entire stay we felt unwelcome. Ita a terrible feeling to have as a customer and we did not have another option at that time to go to. What is most disappointing is that we would like to return to this location (we live nearby and have been doing home renovations that require us and the dogs to be out of the house at times) but I will not patronize this location again.

the bed was stained and appeared to be mouse droppings in the floor a huge hole in bathroom wall attempted to be patched poorly as there is still a huge hole in wall. The room smelt badly the mirror had tooth paste and dirty spots all over.. the floors were sticky, this is first visit I was here for 20 minutes before going back to hospital .. had to book again due to circumstances thought maybe the experience was a one off so I booked on Expedia way in advanced for the weekend it was pay later and hotel took it upon them selves to go ahead charge and cancel and state over and over when I said but it's pay later the response was but your card declined I was due to arrive at this location in one hour and expect d to pay then was shocked when they were trying to charge me before arriving... And well I have certain charges blocked for occasions just like this when u shouldn't be charging me yet when it's pay later lol. It was. A blessing is disguise cause of the lack of good management we had to pay for a room else where and paid $40 more in total for weekend and a major upgrade with new place. The lady working counter I liked though, she is extremely pleasant to deal with but her manager needs a new job.. owner of this place you can tell just could care less about this business..the motel chain people need to visit this location for them selves motel 6 should be so ashamed of...

A budget, pet friendly, clean room and good service is what I look for when travelling and this scores a 5 for me. Front desk was great! I had trouble with the key card and was moved to a different room right away. Both rooms were clean. The shower was perfect, easy to use and water temperature and pressure were perfect. Linen, floors, fridge were all clean. On my way to visit family I just needed a place to sleep. As previous reviewers have mentioned, you can hear the traffic, but that doesn't bother me. When I travel, I'm lucky to be awake 5 minutes after my head hits the pillow (which had better be clean and fresh!). This is not an upscale place... if you are looking for that, go elsewhere. But if you want sleep in a clean room and you want to feel safe and don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do it, then this is the place. If there are issues, you want friendly staff who treats you like a valued customer. I have two routes I can use to get to my destination; I will go out of my way to stay here next time I travel. Side note: I have travelled with my pets, staying at Motel 6 for over 20 years. This place takes a deposit which is something new for me. I don't like it, but I understand the reasons. My dogs are well trained so my deposit isn't at risk, but I know that isn't the case with all travelers and the owner has to protect...
