Bizzle’s BBQ — Restaurant in Barboursville

I’m sure the bbq is amazing but sadly I’ve never had it. Twice I’ve tried to eat at Bizzle’s and twice they’ve been inexplicably closed during business hours. The first time the doors were closed at 12:30 when their schedule says they’re open until 1:30. I chalked it up to a random unfortunate occurrence and came back the following Friday. On my second attempt there was a group walking in ahead of me, they opened the door and immediately stopped at the entrance. They said the whole place was shut down and the lights were turned off but the door was unlocked. This was again at 12:15 during posted business hours. There wasn’t a note on the door or anything explaining why they weren’t open. I find the whole thing very unprofessional. If there was an issue on both occasions there should have been something posted to the door or the website explaining why they weren’t open. Not to mention the door being unlocked on the second attempt with no employees in sight and the whole place shut down. There is a note on the door explaining they will be closed for a week in mid May, which is in a few days. So it looks like I won’t be able to make my third and final attempt at eating at this establishment for a while. The food was awful! We ordered the smoked sausage and it was not smoked and it was cut in slices with grease and not cooked well, like it was just put in a skillet with grease for a couple of seconds. He kind of threw the trays of food on the table like we were inmates. The Mac and cheese looked like vomit and was very sweet. The greens were greasy like the sausage. We got up and left the food there, walked out. We paid for this food before we got it. Did not eat the food after tasting it, he didn't come and ask what the problem was or anything. I think he had an attitude because when we first got there, I asked if he had regular spare ribs, not the baby backs, he said no we have baby backs. I said I was wanting the regular spare ribs and he said, "can't go wrong with the baby backs" and I said, "that's not what I want" So we went with the smoked kielbasa sausage. We will...

I recently ordered takeout from Bizzle’s BBQ and I was thoroughly impressed! The burnt ends were perfectly smoky and tender, with just the right amount of seasoning.

The sides were equally delicious—I loved the mac and cheese which was creamy and delicious. The portions were generous, making it great value for the price.
