OYO Superior Budget Inn Bartow — Hotel in Bartow

A complete joke of a hotel. I booked this for a family friend in desperate need of somewhere to stay and I wish I hadn't. When the family friend arrived to their room and settled in, they pulled back the sheets and saw that there were stains. Not wanting to sleep on dirty sheets, they pulled those off of the bed only to find dead bugs in the mattress. Fun, right? My friend was tired after a 9+ hour drive and had to be up again in a few more hours, so they chose to sleep on the floor. They took video of the dirty sheets as well as the bugs on the mattress.

My friend wanted to cancel the rest of their stay, so I decided to call the desk to try and cancel the reservation and get my money back. I was met with complete hostility from the person calling themselves the manager. I explained the situation and was questioned as to why my guest didn't come to the front desk (again, they were tired and didn't want to exhaust anymore energy), and that they were a liar despite having evidence proving the claims. I was also sworn at by this manager and was refused help. He demanded that I send these videos to his personal cell phone, which I didn't, because I didnt want him to have my contact information.

I ended the call in frustration after being refused assistance and advised my friend to return to the front desk to show the videos. He did this and was told by the manager that no one called (our phone call literally ended 10 mins prior). Eventually I called the booking line and they were able to connect to the hotel and get my friend another room for the duration of his stay, but the entire experience was absolutely terrible and I DON'T recommend anyone staying here. Spend the extra coin to get a clean room with employees who know what good customer service is, because the OYO Superior Budget Inn...

The exterior made me wonder what were in for. It looked in desperate need of a revamp. The pool was empty. The fence around the pool was being used to dry clothes.||The man who checked me in was nice, as was the lady I saw when we were checking out. I think it's run by a couple ||The room smelled clean. The decor inside was not as shown in photos on Expedia and such. Decor usually isn't a drawing factor for me, but what we got wasn't even close to the ad photos. The sheets weren't dirty, yet seemed old and somewhat discoloured. One sheet had a cigarette hole in it. I don't know how the room looked before, but it appeared that they have done some work on the bathroom and around the sink/mirror, so that looked nice. The floors also may have been done recently, so they were also nice except for one area where there was gaps between the floorboards. The beds were well used - saggy, and noisy. One out of three of us slept vaguely well. Luckily, we were only there one night.||We chose this place as it was the only one anywhere remotely near to Orlando that had an available room, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Prices were super inflated for even cheapie motels, everywhere that weekend/day, and were sold out. the property itself did not look that bad. I took one look t the room and ran away in fear - too many rather seedy looking people walking around - two of them encamped outside the room i was assigned to, at first blocking the entrance. If and when the management chases these scary people away, this could be a tolerable location. Given the kind of people presently hanging around here, I cannot recommend this place.ADDDED LATER- THE ELCTRONIC RESPONSE CONFIRMS THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED.
