I began going to Peace River Center when I moved to Polk County, Florida, and no longer had health care. It was my only option, and I was lucky enough to find a social worker that I was compatible with, and she did help me some... Even when she had to refer me to another counselor, I was referred to someone that was a really good fit for me. Yet the counselors I've had, though I get along with and liked them, I found only knew the basics, and really weren't as knowledgeable as they should have been, as well as it taking over a month and a half for my intake process to be completed. Not surprisingly, I did have a single 12 hour stay in the crisis center. A few nurses (more that 50% during April 2020) weren't abiding by Covid-19 protocols and refused to put their mask on when I asked. If I weren't in such dire straits, I would never consider going there given what i deal with a few times a month Two stars because at least I got along with my counselors, and some treatment I received did help a bit. The doctor is a complete quack, he wont let you talk and doesnt try to treat mental health, he cuts off all of your current prescriptions and just gives out valium no matter what you are used to taking.
