Ordered window screens. First time ordered I three. I wanted to order more, but I never realized how expensive! screens are! There was a short turn around time & the windows were perfect. A few weeks later I ordered another set of five.
When I went to pick up windows, they were the wrong sizes and just the screens only (I paid and ordered for the complete aluminum window frame plus screens). After explaining the problem (on the length - one side was significantly shorter than the other side) , the manager said that he would make it right. I also left a window from my first order that I wanted duplicated exactly for better reference for exactly what I wanted. (The manager even pointed out to me, that that screen - the one that I had bought & paid for from that store was incorrect due to the tabs being on the wrong side. That was no big deal to me, but I did leave the window for a reference.)
2 days later I stop in to pick up the windows and was told they weren't ready yet, but I could stop by again that afternoon. No problem. That afternoon, I was told that the installer was busy and couldn't get to them that day and to check back in later. I was frustrated but I told the female associate to just please have someone call me once they were ready.
Another 2 days goes by with no call and the spouse goes to check on them. They did have the windows done but they are still the wrong sizes and now they are bent. The one I left with them to duplicate is also bent now. The manager told my husband that we received what we paid for (Over $100.00 for bent windows frames!!) and that the screens would "flatten and straighten" out once they were installed.
I have shopped at this store before and always had perfect smooth transactions, so I am not sure if there has been a management change, store associate changes or what but I am unhappy with the experience and Bartow Ace will be my absolutely last choice. Especially when needing window...
   Read moreI have been working 6-7 days a week to remodel a toy hauler a few miles down the road from the Ace Hardware for the last 3 months. On a handful of occasions, I have had to run out in the middle of the day from the worksite and head to the nearest hardware store which is this establishment. I have never had an issue until today. I was previously helped by the ladies that worked there (do not know any names). Today, as I was looking for glue and in a hurry as it was FINALLY under 90 degrees outside, an older gentleman came up to me and asked if I needed help. Nice right? NOT his intent though. Because then he informed me that if I wanted to continue to shop in this store I would have to leave my âbackpackâ up front. I explained to him, it was not a backpack, it was my purse. He said, âwell, you still need to leave it up front if you want to shopâ. Obviously this is a policy to discourage shoplifting and his insistence maybe implied he thought I was going to shoplift?? Please also know that while he was telling me this, I was plainly holding $65 in cash in my hand because I was in a hurry. I was also NOT carrying a backpack but a sling bag messenger style that happened to be slung over my back because I was in a hurry. So this one man single handedly ended my business for this Ace Hardware and how many more women because he doesnât know what a purse looks like? And also, am I just supposed to assume no one will look through my purse up front? Itâs a two way street....
   Read moreI attempted to return 3 standing oscillating fans to 1350 E Church St, Bartow, FL 33830 store. They were bought one day before and in the original boxes. The manager Jerry Buttler was Very rude, and questioned me on the purpose of the return, why I needed them, what they were originally purchased for, and was all around very uncomfortable and demeaning. I had the receipt. I eventually asked Jerry why do you need to know so much about these? I purchased yesterday, and decided I didn't actually need them. I shouldn't have to be questioned like a criminal to return something I don't need. He only looked at 1 box out of the 3 and told me he wouldn't accept them for returns. He said there was a little bit of dirt on the back. The fan was turned on and tested for approximately 10 mins then boxed back in the original package. This kind of customer service is very shocking from Ace "The helpful place"...
