I love the little privately-run Mom and Pop motels. On this trip I spent only 1 night out of 14 in a chain motel, but places like Leesville Lodge are the reason why most people are afraid to get away from the interstates and the corporate chains. The price should have been about $29, but was $69. I believe it's the only place around. Leesville seems like a sweet little town, (although they just had a bank robbery), and the motel is on US-1, a great road, surrounded by nice older homes. Outside looks just a little neglected. Probably built in 1970s? Tiny lobby filled up with junk. Staff was nice and mostly fluent in English. You have to pay $5 extra for a non-smoking room. You can park at your door. Part is 1 story and part is two-story. It was getting late and we were pretty tired and did not want to drive to Augusta, Columbia, or Charlotte. The room was FILTHY. Everything was dirty or broken, and I mean it was NOT GOOD! We probably should have left but I feel sorry for people trying to make a living and could see and hear their little children. They did give me some clean towels and pillowcases, and the sheets seemed OK. We stuck it out but I feel I need to put this review, since the ones I read did not accurately describe the disgusting-ness of this place. Maybe some rooms are better, but better check before checking in. To the staff- you could spend some time deep-cleaning, repairing, and painting, and this could be a really nice place! Please at...
Read moreThis place was a nightmare. The bed linens didn’t look to be cleaned properly. The owner excused me of stealing and threatened to call the police even though he didn’t see anything from the room in my car. I had accidentally locked my keys in my trunk and had to break my window to open the door and go through the backseat to retrieve my key. My trunk was opened because I was putting my belongs back in the trunk. He took pictures of the tag on on both of my vehicles and shined his light in the windows of my vehicles and didn’t see find the tv that I was accused of stealing. He then tried to claim it was stolen a month ago . I didn’t stay in that place a month ago. I asked for my money back and he refused to give me a refund. I didn’t want to argue or disturb the other occupants so I told my son to get whatever we had in the room and we left. I never plan on patronizing this place again. I was so angry and humiliated by the way I...
Read morewas in need of a place close to where i would be working the following day, L L filled the requirements. although, there are many things that i could write, i think the simplest way to explain will be listed below.|1) no breakfast|2) no coffee pot/maker in the room|3) decor/furnishings are aged|4) the hotel uses colored sheets, meaning that they(sheets) are not being bleached when washed(big no no)|5) the mattress was very hard. competition for the floor!||after writing the “bad”, here are some positives.|1) hotel is very quiet |2) restaurants, gas stations, etc. are close(within 2 miles or less)||Conclusion; its within a 15 minute drive to stay a very nice hotel for about $20 more and get more for...
