Update: I spoke with the manager and he was able to address my concerns. He said this "experience was out of the norm" and gave me a voucher to try a Drury hotel out again. I arrived here to stay the night for an interview I was having the next day. I arrived around 1240am after driving all night. Exhausted and ready to collapse in the room I booked, I recalled the description I read earlier, "the hotel staff will great you upon arrival". I walked through the doors, after being buzzed in, to see a nice, young man. He was very helpful and did his job well. He checked me in, and with my key cards in hand I went to park my car and grab my bag to head inside for some much needed rest. Exiting the building to do just that, I was met not with the hotel staff, but by about 10-15 kids of middle school through highschool age. They ran into the lobby and around the building. While pondering who else the hotel might send to greet my wife and I, I grabbed our bags and reentered the building. Walking down the hall to the elevator, we were meet with the melodious music of the fire alarm. Looking about the lobby in disbelief, I noticed the alarm had awoken a security guard. Much to no surprise the 10-15 kids then showed up in the lobby not a minute later. I'm no Sherlock Holmes but I believe they might have been the culprits of this incidence. The desk staff quickly sprang into action figuring out of it was a real alarm or merely a prank. Meanwhile other guest came trickling down to greet us. In the middle of the night. Surely the hotel did not have to spring for such a grand entrance for us! We got to meet many people including one man who asked us and our fellow guests for a "snort". We all decided to distance ourselves from this individual, who didn't seem to mind as he started having a conversation with himself. Finally, the music stopped after what seemed like an eternity and everyone was allowed to go up to their rooms again. The fire department showed up shortly after with an impressive response time of somewhere in the 8minute range. We finally headed up to our hotel room for some much needed rest. The adventure was not over just yet however. While getting off the elevator on our floor the pungent aroma of marijuana filled the air. Smiling, I turned to my wife and said "I'm sorry". We both laughed and walked into our room. What...
Read moreAs a Drury member, I always seek them out for their amenities, great customer service and inclusions. This specific location offered King rooms with a Jacuzzi, THAT WAS AMAZING AND REASONABLE. The customer service did not disappoint, even though they were super busy with a little league tournament, all hospitality continued pleasantries and the manager was in the common area helping. Location for travel is great, though the quick left after getting off the ramp can be difficult to maneuver during heavy traffic. Now for the bad news, safety! This location desperately needs an off duty officer, or at minimum security guards in the parking lot. There was a homeless man, nearly undressed, picking through the garbage can out front of the doors when I came to check in, regardless of the crowd of families with small children standing there socializing and enjoying their evening. The manager was quick to address the situation but that would have never been an issue with security. Later in the evening, there was a drug dealer behind the Racetrack gas station just in front of the hotel when I was walking my dog that made me super uncomfortable (both businesses share a small green front/back area without fencing). I moved to another area of the parking lot where there was another individual cutting through the parking lot, and conducting business with the other behind the gas station. When I came out in the morning, during hours the doors are usually unlocked, they were once again card only access to enter because of similar issues. They staff and managers do a great job of keeping guests safe on the INSIDE, but corporate needs to address the safety of guests on the outside for this location. All things considered, this won't keep me from staying at Drury, but I would be cautious to be checked in early and not have a pet so I wouldn't have to go back outside...
Read moreA Motel 8 experience save your money! I booked with this hotel based on reviews and was mislead. Starting off the hotel needs an upgrade, rust on light fixtures, stains on the hallway floors, walls and overall wear on everything. One of the elevators shakes and makes noises like it's about to break. During peak hours there's a popcorn machine running which is cute and fun, you can smell it thru the WHOLE place but the fun wears off when you walk in after it's been off for a few hours and the smell of mildew and skin cells is definitely present...that's just the main part of the hotel, the room had ugly patch jobs, missing parts and one of the main lights in the bathroom flickered. All I could think when I saw each bad fix is someone payed a $50 fee for yall not even to fix it right! Very much landlord/slumlord vibes, but even more so with the body wash/shampoo/conditioner combo dispenser from amazon mounted on the wall in the shower. The hotel has some weird policys, like house keeping waking you up at 8am to see if you're still there, instead of checking with the front desk (check out's at 11). No alcohol is sold from their "Market" after 12, the selection of drinks were odd too, only 1 diet option, 1 normal soda but 5 different engery drinks and a large selection of alcohol unsellable at 1:06 am... I was advised I could walk across the parking lot to buy alcohol from the gas station but there is security outside and signs everywhere stating for your safety doors are locked and I.D. can be requested at any moment. Point is, I didn't feel safe to walk over there and what's the point of the market, if not to get more of my business 🤷♀️. It's off a super busy 6 lane road so if you thinking I'll get food right by my hotel think about going to another exit and...
