This place deserves zero stars if not for the nice employees working in the front. I assume the "back of the house" employees are nice as well. So, 1 star earned for that.
However, don't believe the lies from the owner about prices. The prices are absolutely outrageous and there is no rhyme or reason to it. A strain might be $15 or $20 one week, the next week it's $60 for the same batch of the same strain; nothing has changed but the price. They also used to have $30 and $39 strains but I haven't seen those in at least 2 weeks, with the exception of $30 Big Detroit Energy (which is one of their worst-rated strains) and that sold out within the day. I check the website multiple times daily, so I am usually on top of things when checking the pricing. This place is robbing medical patients blind, and it is absolutely disgusting. I am thinking about transferring my recommendation elsewhere, despite the distance, because suddenly Capitol has gone from one of the cheapest pharmacies to one of the most expensive ones.
The owner may try to chime in with, "we have something at a price point for everyone". That is an outright lie. I checked this morning and there were 19 strains of flower; every single one of them at least $60 per 3.5 gram bag (an eighth of an ounce). Again, some of these were $15 or $20 not too long ago.
This dispensary has a monopoly on the region and they know it, so they continue to gouge medical patients. Something has to be done about this. We were told "prices will come down to normal levels once flower is rolled out". Well, that was over a year and a half ago, and almost nothing has changed. Now you get a cute little jar sometimes so you feel less ripped off, but that seems to be the only tangible difference for the patients. They just continue to feed us lies and rake in the cash. We need to boycott this greedy place.
Capitol will sometimes try to blame the growers for the pricing, but obviously they can lower the pricing by quite a bit because they seemed to be doing pretty well selling those $15, $20, $30, and $39 eighths. Now everything is $60+ again. Somebody make it make sense, please.
EDIT: Please better inform your staff so they know what they are doing, Randy. And more importantly, PLEASE don't be so greedy. Some of us are suffering and you are getting rich off of us just because you can. How do you sleep at night? Probably on a mattress full of money....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a patient of Capitol Wellness, I feel compelled to express my dissatisfaction with the recent developments at this dispensary.
Pricing: The prices have skyrocketed since the move to the new building. Despite promises of a price drop with the legalization of dry flower, the opposite has occurred. The quality does not justify these costs, especially when neighboring states with the same contracted growers (like Good Day Farms) offer much more affordable rates. Wait Times & Online Orders: The wait times have always been an issue, and although they have improved slightly, they are still unacceptable. The situation with online orders, being booked days in advance, adds to the frustration. Transparency: As part of a program tied to state universities and governed by Louisiana, there must be full transparency in where funds are going. The constant blame-shifting between growers and dispensaries over high pricing leaves us in the dark, and we deserve to know the truth. Quality: The quality of the product, especially when compared to other states, has been disappointing. The same strains have been on sale for weeks, and their efficacy is questionable. Consideration for Patients: Many patients, myself included, are left with no other legal alternatives due to the unique system in Louisiana. We were told that things would improve, yet they have not. While I have personally boycotted Capitol Wellness due to these issues, I understand that not everyone has the means to do so, and they should not be exploited or left without essential medication. Staff Friendliness: I must give credit where itās due. The staff at Capitol Wellness have always been friendly and approachable. Their positive attitude is appreciated, even in the face of the above challenges.
In conclusion, the medical marijuana program in Louisiana and Capitol Wellness in particular need to take immediate actions to address these issues. We deserve better. Change is not only needed but expected, considering this is a state-sanctioned program. Patientsā well-being must be the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly the employees are super helpful and always a pleasure to deal with and Iāve been going there for over two years and never had a complaint about the staff once. Unfortunately, and I know this is everyoneās main complaint but itās very much legitimate, the prices are higher than they should be on everything. I understand the need to make back your investments, but in a sell itself type of business such as marijuana, that has never had a problem getting a return and I donāt understand why the prices canāt be more reasonable. I also understand the need for our government to allow the pharmacies to have competition for the benefit of the patients instead of allowing one pharmacy to basically own an entire area and take advantage of the people who are just trying to find an alternate form of relief in an opiate and benzo plagued society where doctors are willing to use your life, and in time your addiction to the meds, as a bargaining chip for their own greed. I think itās a shame to see such a good program tainted by greed in so many ways and hopefully at some point the people in charge, on all sides, will put the needs of the patients before such high prices for a product that literally sells for more than half the price in other places, that also provide an even better product to begin with and have no problems staying financially stable. Once again the staff is truly awesome though so itās definitely a place Iād recommend for patients in Baton Rouge...
