I am an experienced traveler who stays in many hotels around the country year round. Chose today here for one night due to an airline issue in Baton Rouge. Pros: Room was available. Front desk person was professional. Everything in the room worked. Cons: Inside of hotel smelled like old socks and latex paint. Elevator was dirty and needed a good wipe down. The room smelled like old socks, latex paint, and cigarette smoke. Walls were painted orange Walls were painted yellow Carpet was orange Lampshade was broken and stained Sitting chair was worn with gross stains (with chunks) all over it. Carpets were worn, cigarettes burned and stained. Windows were covered with mold and mildew on the outside. This is my 3rd stay at a Best Western due to my company's travel policy, but I gotta tell ya...I am not impressed. Best Western is really a 2 star chain at best in my experiences so far. I would NOT recommend this hotel, or this chain to stay at until some serious investment in modernization and/or new management takes over.

This hotel is in the perfect location, but that is all that gets a good rating from me. The rooms were adequate but not clean. See pics. We checked in and the gentleman at the counter was nice and pleasant, but when we got into the room we found hair in the tub, a bar of used soap in the shower and the bathroom in general looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. Good thing we take Lysol and disinfectant with us when travel (a must these days). It really is a shame since the property is ok. We took pics and showed the gentleman at the front desk and he made a note of it and he asked us to show the pics to the manager in the morning. The manager was apologetic and offered to refund us 50% of the cost of our room. Fair enough. That was Sunday morning. I called this evening (Monday) because the refund hadn’t posted to my card yet and the manager was already gone. The gentleman on the phone was rude and hung up. I will not stay at this hotel again. Well worth the extra $20-$30 to stay at the Drury next door.

If the front door staff hadn't been so welcoming and accommodating, we probably would have asked for a refund and walked out. First, the hotel is under construction and they are doing a HORRIBLE job. There are paint splatters, dust, and sticky substances on almost every surface. Pool is closed for repairs which really sucked because ne promised my toddler son he could swim all day. Our 1st room smelled like straight pee and mold when we walked in. Apparently the AC had been leaking and the carpet was soaked with water. The walls were dripping with humidity and everything felt wet. The staff immediately gave us an "upgraded" room. Our 2nd room had a broken door that you had to lift off the hinges to open. It too reaked of pee and mold. The carpet was dry but the bed was wet from humidity. It felt like we were sleeping in a wet pee bed. Thank goodness we only had to endour the smell and wetness for one night. Bathroom was updated and clean.

My husband has to stay in Best Western a lot for work. He is a Diamonds Rewards Member. We are currently displaced for Hurricane Laura. She completely annihilated our area, and most of my neighbors lost their homes. We decided to use my husband's rewards points until we figure out where to go and what to do. The first day we arrived, the guy at the front desk was very short with husband. No big deal. I brushed it off because I know that people have bad days. We had originally only booked one night with our points, but when we got in the room, we realized that we needed to book a few more as we still don't know where to go. We can't go back home yet because the water is out and there is no power and tons of debris. I called the rewards points phone number and booked us two additional nights. They informed me to tell the front desk so I did. I was told that we wouldn't have any problems. The next morning, I am finally getting the first good night's sleep in days. I am woken up by a loud pounding. A guy from the hotel rudely demanded to know why we were still at the hotel. I explained that I booked a few more nights over the phone and that the front desk said that there shouldn't be any problems. He walked off. About ten minutes later, the guy at the front desk storms up to our room and wants to know why we haven't checked out. I re explained that we should be booked and offered him our confirmation number. He told me that the confirmation number was useless and asked me to come downstairs to sort this out. When I got downstairs, he tells me, "nevermind, we found your reservation." I would think that people going through trials and hurricanes could expect a little kindness and hospitality, but none was to be found. Instead, they were rude to us. In addition to them banging on our doors, trying to oust us, being rude, etc..the wall are thin. I can hear every conversation from the neighboring rooms. I don't want to be a "Karen' by complaining, but this hotel stay warrants a complaint. Stay somewhere will you be treated with consideration....

I came here for hurricane Francine to ride the storm out. I lived in this hotel about 3 years ago, from having damaged to my house from another hurricane for about 3 months and it was super nice so that's why I came back. But, it's under new management now and man what a mess! I pulled up and there was people smoking weed in front of the front entrance door, the ground by the entrance door was covered with cigarette butts (just gross)! When you enter the door the whole building smell like weed and the carpet looks to dirty. I asked the young lady at the desk why it smelled like weed, she said because people are in and out smelling like that! I got on the elevator it stinked, I was put on the 2nd floor as soon as you got off the elevator it was submerged in weed smoke and the smell, the entire carpet on the hallway was filthy and covered with food crumbs and kids running up and down the hallway. In the room there was a big cockroach and side the bad you could smell where beer was spilled and they tried there best to cover the smell up! All night whoever was over my head let their damn kids run all night up there until about a little after 2 am. The next morning, I could careless about the storm. I quickly checked out and got away from there! It is now like one of those cheap motels on Airline Hwy. They should not call themselves an Inn or hotel. The new management has let this went down from what I remember it! They have to do better or this place will soon have drug addicts and prostitutes...

I stayed 2 nights here by myself on a Friday and Saturday night on the 3rd floor. The area seemed safe, I never encountered anyone I was worried about. There were a lot of guests and kids but at night it was quiet and I had no trouble sleeping. Breakfast was good, eggs and sausage - make-your-own waffles were available - cereals, yogurt, and bagels.

There was enough parking for everyone. The owners take pride in their hotel and it shows - while not luxury accommodations I felt welcome and things were clean.

The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because my toilet ran constantly, my room was cleaned despite the sign in the room saying it wouldn't be so someone was in there and I hadn't taken any precautions (not issues as a result), and the outside side door was not locked and the second floor stairwell door accessible from that door would not close all the way by itself. I could understand folks being very uncomfortable knowing anyone could just walk in. I took the stairs since the elevator was usually crowded and each time I passed the second floor I pushed it closed.

There was also someone who I am guessing that lives there and throws trash in the parking lot. This person clearly has no regard for the owner's property.

There was a vent in the shower area but it was no connected to anything. The AC fan could be left on and made a nice amount of white noise for sleeping.

Overall, for the price and proximity to LSU I was happy with this hotel. I would...
