Hubby and I stayed here Feb 18-27. We used the first 3 nights w/ our Hyatt points. We always book a double since I move around a lot in bed, but they only had king beds available. Doubles seem to be reserved for the folks that come for tournaments, so that was a bummer. Also, no kitchenette like most Hyatt House brands- there was a mini fridge & a microwave, however. I have to agree with some of the reviews that these rooms are very small. Most Hyatt Place has a sectional & a coffee table in a separate sitting area. These king rooms have a sofa and a small footstool that was pushed against the windows and right next to the bed. The kitchenette seems to be their suite & at a different price point.
Their breakfast buffet was decent. There’s fruits, oatmeal, sausages, potatoes, eggs, cereal, and an omelette station. I have to say that Jacob that does the omelette had the best attitude and very friendly! On the weekends, he’s by himself making the omelettes and refilling the food- but on weekdays when it’s not so busy, there are at least 2 people? The Asian omelette lady was sweet, too. I think she also works or rotates at the front desk.
Housekeeping & front desk were friendly & accommodating.
Two things:
There was a fire alarm that went off on Tuesday, 2/22 around 11:30a. I was on a work call and that fire alarm was so loud, I can feel my ears ringing. This went on for about 30+ mins. They didn’t let the guests know that this would happen (even though I was downstairs earlier & I saw a work crew talking to what seemed like the manager). They did, however, post a sign for another fire drill on 2/24 for an hour so I had to leave the property during that time.
The parking situation is risky. Since we didn’t stay downtown, we figured this would be free parking. You can use the lot behind the hotel for $20/nt, do side street parking, or park for free in ‘The Round’ parking garage (managed by the city.) On our first night we parked at The Round & when we went to retrieve the car the following morning, we saw shattered glasses from the car that was parked next to ours (also a guests of the hotel w/ their yellow hangtag). This confirmed someone else’s review about how there were break-ins when they also parked there. So the subsequent nights we parked in front of the hotel.
We happened to stay on the fifth floor and we had a noisy neighbor & was relocated to the 3rd floor. That sucked. When we were on the fifth floor, we could hear the light rail- it’s wasn’t so bad if you muffled it w/ the heater/aircon.
This location is pretty great as it was close to a lot of stores, highways, and...
Read moreStayed for 6 nights in June. Party of 4. First real vacation in a few years. The hotel is new and suites are spacious. Cleanliness was above average. Good location to tram.||Disappointing that the website description of the two queen bed layout on the hotels website states a full size refrigerator and there is no queen bed layout with a full size fridge. As people in our party have medical conditions that require most meals to be prepared without certain ingredients the full size refrigerator and kitchen was one of the main reasons this hotel was chosen. When I went downstairs the next morning after arriving at midnight and traveling a 12 hour day I explained that the queen suite does not have a full refrigerator. I pulled it up on my phone and showed her their hotel website and the incorrect description. Desk representative seemed tired and I felt like I was bothering her and she just kept saying no queen bed rooms have full fridges. She said there are two suites available that have a full fridge available. At this point of needing a suite and wanting to enjoy a much needed vacation I said just give me a suite and was placed in ADA king suite for $37 more a night. Don't think that was the right thing to do.. charging more for their incorrect website description..but didn't have the time to go back down and try to find a manager to talk to. I tried to find an email address to contact on website. Couldn't find anything. ||Breakfast food offerings were above average, however, items were always running out and people were waiting. It wasn't just one hot item running out it was all items out and waiting almost 10 minutes to get food. ||I was excited about this hotel, but was left somewhat disappointed. I have stayed at other hotels in Beaverton and had a much...
Read moreI really enjoyed my Hyatt House stay during my visit to Portland. The hotel is new and opened in March 2021. I was able to get a king suite which was nicely furnished, had a good sized bathroom and a kitchen area with a mini fridge, microwave, sink, dishwasher and electric stove top. Everything was in very good shape and I only had a small complaint about a very squeaky door when you enter the room. I went down one morning and asked to have maintenance oil the squeak. I waited two more days and went down again and a very kind front desk clerk, Johann, made the note and when I returned that evening from work the door was silent! Johann was very capable and polite and also helped me extend my stay for a day when I realize my project was delayed. The hotel is located very close to the light rail system, but they have very limited parking. I counted only 30 parking spots at the back of the hotel and nine of them were for electric vehicles. With all Hotels struggling to survive these days they did ask if I needed daily housekeeping and I declined it. Also, there’s very limited breakfast offerings, but you could go to the breakfast area and order it and they would bring it out to you in a closed box. I only tried the breakfast one day of my five night stay. They did have other offerings of individual cereals and individual juices & milk available. Lastly, the BGs Food Cartel is within a short walking distance and although I planned to go there, I never made. I will travel again to Portland again in 2 months and I look forward to my stay at this Hyatt House again and hope to explore the BG food carts with their wide variety of food trucks...
